Interesting that they stuck with their starter and we went to our bullpen. Might end up being the difference in the game. No radar gun or pitch count on garbage SEC+, so not sure if that influenced Sully's decision. Puk struck out 2 in the sixth, I think.

lol the SS boots the ball and it bounces right into the 2b hands like an exchange to almost turn two. It's hilarious how those bounces love to happen to us in sports so often in big situations

We definitely had our shot. JJ at bat in the 8th with baserunners at 2d and 3d. They got him out all night with high fastballs.

These teams are like mirror images. I don't know if USC has pitched like this all year, but they've got good starters and a bunch of good arms out of the bullpen. I would think we've got to have the edge today with Faedo, but I thought that the last two games too.

As much talent as we have, our hitters really struggle against good pitching. Teams have watched a lot of film on Schwartz and are handling him a lot better than last year. He gets almost nothing to pull and has to settle for going to right field most of the time. Liput and Rivera are really in slumps. Hopefully, they can pull out the rubbergame today.

A split's a pretty good outcome on the road at USC. I wouldn't be surprised if we see those guys again in the postseason. They are tough. It's a great rivalry.

With the deal the SEC made with ESPN we're getting more SEC games on the SEC Network, combined with ESPN, ESPN2 & ESPNU. However, before this deal we got more Gator games via FoxSports Florida and SunSports. I'm watching a lot of games on my computer via SEC+ and the Watch ESPN app., but it's not the same as having them on TV. I could care less about watching Auburn & Tennessee play baseball or Miss. St. & Missouri play softball. I imagine most of the SEC is just as aggravated about this as us Gator fans. But the powers that be are making a ton of money off the ESPN deal so don't expect any changes. I liked the old days better.

maybe I've missed some, but I think we've had less than 5 games broadcast. With the schedule we've played as the consensus no 1 all year, that's ridiculous.

That's great that every game is available online, but the online broadcast is not as good. There are no stat graphics, no radar gun, no pitch count. They showed 2 out of 3 from that auburn series and one game from no 1 at no. 5. It's weird.

Welcome to SEC TV third tier broadcasts. Not as Gator friendly as SunSports, as SEC TV has to give TV time to all sports across all SEC programs. SunSports had a Gator exclusive on third tier rights and aired a lot more Gator sports. But while we are on TV less, we make more money

Ive seen replays of Bama's spring game more than the #1 baseball team.. along with both them and UK's baseball teams. Money bag world

I feel like ever time I turn on SEC channel one team from Miss. is on. regardless of the sport.

Tough loss at Tennessee yesterday. The "experts" keep saying Puk will be the 1st player selected in the draft, or at least one of the top picks. This is based on potential as a 6'7" lefty that throws in the mid to upper 90's. But he's so inconsistent I think he needs another year at UF. He threw 91 pitches yesterday in 3 1/3 with 6 k's, 6 walks and a hit batter. Kind of his MO. In 11 starts this year he's thrown 50 innings. Seems like a great kid and I wish him the best. But Shore & Faedo seem more reliable to me.

Almost word for word what I was thinking yesterday watching him. Even when he is "on" he will have multiple innings where he throws a lot of pitches and pitches himself out of the game. Right now, Shore & Faedo are better.

That sounds exactly like a young Randy Johnson. Early in his career, he would have a lot of strikeouts, but also a lot of walks and wild pitches.

Gators up 6-1 in the top of the 6th with one out and no one out.

Rivera just went yard for two RBIs

Gators closed UT out 9-3. Got to 40 wins faster than any Gator team ever. The first team in the SEC and the nation to win 40 games this year.

UK took the weekend series against USCe. There is now a tie at the top of the SEC standings, Between the Mighty Gators and USCe.

I love Puk, but he seems a little flaky to me. His start against USC, he probably had the best stuff any Gator pitcher has thrown this year. But you don't know if he's going to give you that or the Tennessee start. I just wish he would throw strikes. College hitters are not going to square him up too often. In any event, he's about to get drafted in the top 5 of the mlb draft, so we might as well try to enjoy the ride the rest of the way.

I see the physical comparison to Randy Johnson, but Johnson was mean. I don't see that with Puk. He could probably benefit from a little of RJ's bad attitude.

We're now tied with South Carolina for the best record in the SEC, Texas A&M 1/2 game behind. South Carolina plays 3 hosting A&M this weekend, we host Vandy for 3. The last weekend of the regular season we are at LSU, Carolina is at Alabama. Who knows what will happen? SEC is brutal, but gets us ready for the NCAA's.

MSU is 1.5 games behind at 15-9 and with the difficult part of their schedule behind them. The contenders close out as follows:

UF (16-7): Vandy, @ LSU

USC (16-7): TAMU, @ Bama

TAMU (16-8): @USC, Ole Miss

MSU (15-9): @Auburn, Arky

Clearly, MSU has the easiest closing stretch. TAMU probably has the toughest though ours is right there with them. Definitely don't want a sweep either way in that TAMU-USCe series. It's going to take at least 20 wins to capture a share of the title. My guess is a split title, but if you get to 21 you win it by yourself.

This a good breakdown of the close of a brutal year in the SEC. Depending on how these series go, you could see an argument for five SEC teams in the top 8 seeds. 20 wins in league gets you a super regional at home. 19 probably does it for the Gators. Waiting for JJ to catch a hot streak...

Us and SC will have played one less game because of the cancellation of the 3rd game in Columbia. I'd be curious to know if it would then come down to winning percentage to determine the regular season championship if it's between us or SC vs. one of the other teams. I'd also be curious to know what the tiebreakers are (if any).

Not sure if the regular season conference is determined by the same formula as the seeding for the tournament;

Seeding
The two division champions shall be automatically seeded number one and number two based on winning percentage in conference competition. The rest shall be seeded numbers 3 through 12 based on winning percentage without regard to division. Ties will be broken in the following manner:

Two Team Tie

A. Win-loss results of head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.

B. If two-teams are divisional opponents: (1) Win-loss percentage within their division (over the 15-game SEC division schedule). (2) Win-loss percentage of the two teams versus the No. 1 team in their division (and proceeding through the No. 6 team, if necessary).

C. If two teams are not divisional opponents: (1) Win-loss record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed using common opponents only (and proceeding through the No. 10 seed, if necessary). (2) Coin flip by the Commissioner.

Three Team Tie or More

The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken: (Note: If the three tied teams have three different records against each other, they shall be seeded in best-percentage order.) Otherwise, once the tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker procedure will be used.

A. If all three teams are common opponents: Total win-loss percentage of games played among the tied teams.

B. Win-loss percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed and proceeding through the No. 8 seed, if necessary, using common opponents only.

C. If three or more teams still are tied, the Commissioner will conduct a draw.

Some pretty amazing stats on our pitching in the pre-game notes for USF:

- the team leads the nation in strikeouts, strikeouts/9 (10.4) and strikeout to walk (4.34).

- Faedo is 11th nationally in strikeout/walk (7.58!), Dunning is 16th and Shore is 27th.

- Puk (12.70) and Faedo (12.29) are sixth and seventh nationally in strikeouts/9.

- The team has won Shore's last 17 starts! Going back to 2015.

The pitching Sully rolls through Gainesville is incredible.

Florida baseball finishes perfect 14-0 in midweek games

Thomas GoldKamp

The No. 1 Florida baseball team closed out a perfect record in mid-week games on Tuesday night, topping South Florida 11-4 to finish the season 14-0 in midweek games.

"It's extremely difficult to do, because obviously you're playing quality opponents in-state," coach Kevin O'Sullivan said. "They get excited to play the Gators. To be able to play at a high level with playing such a difficult SEC slate and to come and bring your game every Tuesday and Wednesday, it's remarkable.

"I told the guys that I really wanted to finish this thing off. It's one of those accomplishments that I can use as a teaching point moving forward. It is possible to win every midweek game if you bring your game all the time. It's a team victory. It's just a really, really good feeling to know that we're coaching a team that brought it every game. It's not easy to do."

The Gators also made more history on Tuesday night, winning their 41st game in the regular season. That ties the record mark set by the 2011 team, which finished 41-15.

Florida has six games remaining and could smash the record with upcoming series against No. 7 Vanderbilt and No. 13 LSU. Those series could also determine whether this team -- which has already made so much history -- ends up as SEC champions.

Currently, the Gators sit at 16-7 in SEC play, tied for the lead with South Carolina in the SEC standings. Texas A&M also sits just a half-game back at 16-8.

Florida Sate just lost back to back games against @ #53 JU and at home against #93 FGCU. That puts their ability to land a national seed very much in jeopardy, as the RPI has dropped them to 12. They do have a road series against #32 Duke and at home against #3 Miami, so they can play themselves back in National Seed contention. But they have no room for error.

Is there any doubt that if they do not get a National Seed, they will once against be matched up against us?

Not worried about FSU. They lost a bunch of midweek games and have no pitching depth. Their record would be worse if they did not have so many rainouts. Miami will most likely sweep them.

Shore just pitched a complete game the Gators won 4-2 against Vandy. One more quick note: #Gators have now won 18 consecutive games started by Shore. He is 15-0 during that stretch.

Great win. Logan Shore is so gritty. He & Hudson Randall are my 2 favorite Gator pitchers ever. Hope Alonso is OK.

They took over fast and then Buddy is pretty much untouchable as an athlete on the base paths... Then shut them down the rest of the way and basically for 8 innings.
