Ok, then give me the Top 10 coaches that Florida would have REALISTICALLY put on its list ahead of Mullen.
With $6MM to spend and the resources we have. Put your own list together of top coaches not named Saban, Swinney, Meyer or Fisher and they take the time to listen.

I'm clueless and you're smart.
See. I knew you could do it. You are 1 for 1 today for being right.

So you can't give us a list and you can't figure out how to quote correctly. The weekend is not off to a good start for you.
Maybe you can point out typos and grammar errors too. Someone pointed out I misspelled Stricklin earlier. I better be careful I might use the wrong emoji. Retorts like your post usually seem like a good idea when you can't counter facts that put you in your place.

I can tell from your comments you have a rudimentary knowledge of the process. You probably played some ball in high school. I would say Alabama. About every kid I ever met from AL who played a down of football thought they were going to win the Heisman and thinks they have a PhD in football. The problem is they THINK they know more than they do.

You want a list of 10 names that would be ahead of Mullen for a major program like ours. When all i have to do is give you a list of offers Mullen has received for head coach since he took over State to show he was not a top 10 option for a program the caliber of ours.
1. Vols> A program that was even more in the crapper than ours and had also tripped over themselves in the hiring process.
2. Gators

Once again, you are excused. You may want to go belly up the bar at Durty Nelly's or Salty Dog's and try to bedazzle the barmaids with your "nodlidge" of football, but don't be surprised if they shame you too rookie.

Still waiting on that list. I'm not sure you can do it but then again someone told you how to quote properly, so maybe they can also help you with that.

Thank God you showed up HomoGator. I mean, we were all just here for over 15 years, writing tens of thousands of posts, but really not understanding the Gators or even football until you showed up 4 months ago and gave us those 42 posts of solid gold to really show us the way.

Again, thank you, oh THANK YOU.

You're very welcome. Believe me, I have been reading the tens of thousands of posts on this board for over 15 years, biting my tongue. There are about a half dozen posters here that appear to grasp Gator football and football in general, the rest are pure trash especially the nulls and leg humpers.

I have met some seriously GD handicapped fans over the years who knew so little about college football but they weren't wearing orange and blue. Then there was you. I'll continue to show you the way little one. You really need some assistance. Bless your heart!

What we really need is your Top 10 list without Mullen. Ready to admit you can't produce it?
Oh dear!! I didn't realize you couldn't sleep without my acknowledgement. Here's a list of candidates that should have been considered before extending an offer to Mullen. Every one of them would have been either a superior hire to Mullen or at the very least an equivalent that could have been brought in with a much lower salary than the $6.1 million we are paying him. Not saying they would have been hired, but should have been vetted/interviewed. This is just off the top of my head and doesn't include other possibilities from the professional ranks.

Now follow your pattern and jump to another topic in concession or go nighty night lil' boy.

Chip Kelly (attempted)
Scott Frost (attempted)
Justin Fuente
Mike Norvell
Bob Stoops (rumors swirling he may want back into the game)
Matt Campbell
Charlie Strong
WIllie Taggart
Les Miles
David Cutliffe
Chad Morris
Dave Clawson
Larry Fedora
Dave Doeren

Is this list even serious?

I was cool with the potential hires of Norvell, Fuente, and Morris. However you summer recruit followers would be crying the same cry right now. They are more talent evaluators and developers than they are 5 star chasers. Same probably said about Dave Doeren.

Taggart and Strong may be just as good or better than Mullen. The case will be made the next few years between Tagg/Mull. Strong already failed at a big school with a big budget.

Matt Campbell had a huge buyout or something didn't he?

A list that included Les Miles who failed at a big school with a big budget and David Cutcliffe is laughable.

You really wanted our search to be like UT's didn't you?

So your list of candidates that should have been considered would be mostly made up of coaches with zero Power 5 head coaching experience, and the majority of the rest either only have HCing experience in the ACC, or were fired from the SEC.

And you would never consider the guy with 10 years experience as a head coach in the SEC, who took an SEC team to #1 in the rankings for a month AND who has experience coaching at Florida AND whose offense produced a Heisman QB.

And you would hire Dave Doeren before him. Hell Cheatersee wouldn't even hire Dave when he told them he wanted the job LMAO!

This is good stuff, you never disappoint.

I was being kind about it but his list was freaking ignorant. Les Miles and David Cutcliffe?

I believe Dan could do at Memphis what Fuente/Norvell did. Same with SMU/Morris...Dave D/NC State. I think Dan could have Va Tech running about where Fuente has em. I think Dan could have won at Louisville in the Big East/AAC and at USF.

Let's get a washed up former SEC coach who never produced a QB or offense and crapped away more talent to revive our offense and lack of QB running a decade long now. Or better yet hire a 100 year old who is topped out on his career at Duke because he was an OC 20 years ago in the SEC.

We should have got Norvell when the first 2 fell through. That better have been some huge baggage not to get him imo.

The gambling rumors are a message board myth. Who would buy a vacation home...and turn down a pay raise to give more pay to his assistants.

It was Ole Miss fans making up a lame rumor he has debt at Tunica casinos. Ole Myth fans can't handle any type if rejection or that anyone wasn't interested in them.

But I'm telling you.. you'd be crying right now since you are a summer recruit watcher. We'd probably be right where we are in that aspect.

Each one of those coaches on the list are better hires at $4MM a year than Mullen at $6MM a year. Some would have been worth every penny of $7MM. Several won National Championships or played for them as a HC. Several won conference champions or won their division. Something Dan has never done in 10 years as a HC.

Dan's claim to fame is, let me get this straight, he was #1 for a month in the middle of the season. A product of playing a watered down schedule the 1st half of the season. Yes, Tim won the Heisman with Mullen at OC, but do you think maybe Urban Meyer had something to do with it. Meyer won a NC without Mullen and has had excellent QB play too at OSU.

Mullen at $6MM per year is crazy stupid. The list I gave has a majority of those coaches who at $4MM per year would have been a better hire than Mullen and his deal. Many on this board alone have said Dan may not be the guy who wins championships, but he can turn it around for the next guy. I don't necessarily disagree. But, why pay what amounts to basically an interim coach $6MM a year when you can get an equivalent coach for $4MM that can also reach Dan's ceiling?

Mullen was clearly the best candidate.

Kelly is a better coach, but it's obvious he wants to go back West and would have been talking to other teams after every season. You would have had him for 2, maybe 3 seasons.

Frost is a complete unknown and was the hot young up n comer at the time. More often than not these guys flame out and Florida is too good of a program to roll the dice on him.

What Florida needed most of all was a stable hire that would stick around for a while. Mullen was the only guy on any list that met that criteria. Anyone that can't see that either doesn't know what they are talking about, or they are trolling.

Maybe both.

Yep, that's the funniest thing, the guys Fever wanted are even worse recruiters than Mullen.

It's much tougher winning the SEC West with the smallest budget in that division then it is winning a division in the AAC or ACC.

Maybe they just didn't have the budget. Seems to be the acceptable excuse here. :p:D

Didn't have the budget and had never coached in a Power 5 conference. So of course you thought they were better candidates than Mullen.

I see what you mean about irritating fans that think they know what they are talking about.

Someone is sensitive. You remind me of someone I used to date. He was always bitchy too. He was a walk on at Alabama. He didn't possess the speed or skill to play a down, but loved when I piled on.

Sweetheart is that you?

I doubt it. He has recruited pretty good for the conference he is in. He seems to be decent at recruiting and coaching them up.

You're smoking crack buddy. Maybe Mullen won't be the best hire...guys hasn't even fielded a team at Florida and if you know so much why don't you go play the lottery and win. Bob Stoops was never coming to Florida before and no reason his name is even being mentioned about the job...I like some of your others but Taggart, Les Miles, Cutliffe and others are better than Mullen? I would take Mullen over Strong right now any day.

I have a hard time believing anyone with your overblown sense of self could read posts here or anywhere for 15 minutes without commenting, much less 15 years.

So you were a secretary at these jobs?
We both know that isn't true. Should we call you MatchesMalone, Obvious Lee, 4#### or what you christened yourself, The Queen of Dictation. #IFYOUKNOWWHATIMEAN Last time we hooked up you were in Hattiesburg area. Do you still hang out at Groove??
Really sorry I didn't call.

$4MM/year Taggart, Miles or Cutliffe > $6MM/year Mullen is all that I am saying. $4MM/year Mullen?? He moves up the list.

You could say the same thing about Mullen at Miss State.

Well....a realist could.

He recruited like crap his 2nd and 3rd classes at Miss State and is recruiting like crap his 2nd class here and he was a pitiful 3-34 against final AP top 25 teams. I bet Norvell's top 25 record is better than Mullen's and he is at a non-power 5 school.
