Biden Crime wave

I don’t know if more is my stance. I have one for protection. And with the amount of firearms that are readily available on after markets, and how many are already in the hands of bad people or bad groups….putting some restriction in place, in my opinion just leaves more people as sitting ducks. My point with my post was, it’s my opinion from being in education and seeing it first hand, there will be more folks with the mindset to commit crimes or do heinous acts. I don’t have hard data to support this stance nationally but the incidents that have occurred in my county have Gone through the roof.

Regarding the kids, I feel it’s parenting moreso than society. The permissive society in our education system is due to horrible federal laws that protect them from being alternatively placed. The days of “you screw up you pay the price” are long gone. Parents believe their kids over adults. It’s a losing proposition and they are learning bad behaviors such as actions don’t have consequences bc mommy or daddy will protect you.
A lot of the parents are victims of the same permissiveness.

We need to figure out some way to deal with kids who have no intention of participating in the quest for an education. We should have a world class public school system but crappy students are holding everyone else back.

Your last sentence is spot on and what is ruining public education. It’s why people are running from the profession and the education system is getting diluted. It’s now permeating up into administration and even district level positions.

Regarding guns: You're saying we need more guns to protect ourselves from all the people with guns. Could the number of guns be part of the problem?

Regarding the kids: They're victims of our permissive society. We lower expectations then lower them again in the name of diversity/tolerance. It's no wonder they're not prepared for real life.
So what’s your plan to have “less guns”?

Chicken meet egg.

Starting with “no child left behind” declining standards in education - fueled by equity - has led to a crap system that lets kids get by without learning anything. How to act, add, read or think.

And when compulsory education “works” it teaches kids what to think and not how to think.

I would make owning guns a privilege more than a 'right'. I'd start cutting into the supply by a variety of means.....limits, registration, whatever.

Yes, I'm aware of the second amendment and I know it wouldn't end crime tomorrow.

Public education has been focused on making it look like many kids are being educated so they feel better about themselves.

So again, your solution is to make it harder for law-abiding citizens to own guns.

Reminder: Law-abiding citizens are responsible for 0.0 acts of gun violence in the history of the planet.

Yes, I want to make it more difficult to obtain firearms. But, if you act like good boys and girls, you can still hunt, protect yourself or just feel manly.

We know. And bless your heart, I believe you honestly think that would help the problem of gun violence.

Instead, it would make it far worse. Firearm restrictions are meaningless to criminals who commit gun violence. They only affect law-abiding gun owners.

So your plan to stop gun violence is to restrict ownership among the group that contributes 0.0% to the problem. Logically, that will make the problem worse.

You can't see that because you are obsessed with an inanimate object. You should be obsessed with changing the behavior of the people who are actually COMMITTING gun violence.

Like we responsible adults are.

I understand the gun companies want us to believe that LESS firearms will lead to MORE gun violence.

Just like less drugs would lead to more overdoses and less cars would lead to more accidents.

You aren't wanting to reduce the number of firearms. That's what you can't understand.

You are wanting to reduce the number of firearms that LAW ABIDING CITIZENS OWN.

That means you want to lower the amount of DGU (Defensive Gun Uses) performed by law-abiding citizens.

That means more gun violence. That means more law-abiding citizens will be killed via guns.

You shouldn't need a gun company to tell you that your plan will make gun violence worse. You have a God-given brain for that.

I'm not? That's weird. I thought that's exactly what I wanted.

Your plan will not reduce the number of firearms. If it did, then your plan would have a small degree of success.

Instead, your plan WILL reduce firearms among ONE GROUP: Law-abiding citizens.

That will result in MORE gun violence.

Guns do not kill people. People kill people. Guns are an inanimate object.

You still don't understand this. As evidenced by you believing that if you reduce firearms, that reduces gun violence.

This is good! You actually realize that less guns would lead to less gun violence.

We've had another breakthru.

Good job!

Of course less guns can lead to less gun violence. As long as you remove them from the people who are committing the gun violence.

What's your plan for doing that?

No, and making legal gun owners wait and jump through hoops that the criminals would ignore would shift the balance the wrong way,

You plan would make people less safe.

You’re right. We should make hard drugs illegal.

That’ll stop overdoses.

What a GREAT ideal Theo!!!! INCREDIBLE!!! One small question...do you think the criminals will abide by these new incredible laws? Because I am SHOCKED we never thought of this concerning illegal drugs!

You think we should eliminate laws because criminals break them?

Laws should target criminals only. You want to target ANY gun owner, criminal or not.

Let's apply this logic to another area, drunk driving. If we pass a new law saying that you get the death penalty for driving drunk, who does that law target?

100% targets criminals. Because it's a crime to drive drunk.

But if you pass a law saying you cannot buy more than 2 beers at a time, you are targeting law-abiding citizens moreso than criminals. The law-abiding citizens will follow the law, the criminals will break it, likely by stealing the beers.

This is why laws should target criminal behavior. You want to take behavior that contributes 0% to gun violence, and target it.

Shameful.

You have to get a driver's license to legally drive. Doesn't that 'target' law abiding citizens? They're the ones who have to get a license.

Law abiding citizens will get the license. Criminals will not. If the cop pulls over a law-abiding citizen and asks for his license, the cop gives him a thank you and lets him go. If the cop pulls over the criminal and asks to see his license, the criminal goes to jail.

See how laws work when properly implemented?

What you are trying to do is make laws that affect EVERYONE based on the activity of criminals. It would be like trying to stop drunk driving by arresting anyone that drives a car.
