gutter rat thug ( parents should be arrested )

This is typical HS behavior now at my HS. Super disturbing and the parents show up thinking their kids are innocent. I’m a public educator and have no problem promoting the fact my wife home schools our kids this year. These incidents and behaviors are truly burning everyone out of education. I hate that something i used to love has become sour.

well in another day of the roundtable, had a kid earlier call me a bitch b/c i would not let him get candy from the vending machine, as i was flushing him to class. when i approached him, he says "what, i said a word, what is the big deal."

So she was shot? With a gun? Yeah, we definitely need more guns. That would make things better.
It’s not an issue of more guns Vs less guns. It’s an issue of wrong people having guns and the correct people having guns to protect themselves.

I’ve read and saw how you have not been in agreement on this thread Theo, but I’d like to share maybe some different perspective.

I’m an administrator in a large high school here in central Florida. Being in education for 15 years, and now an administrator, I am responsible for student statement intakes and investigating/resolving statements.

What I’ve seen and worked these last two years is staggering, and concerning. The mental health diagnosis that is present in students has exponentially increased, students’ behaviors classified as ESE has gotten worse, and the overall decision-making of students in general has diminished, with apathy setting in.

These 16-18 year olds will be exiting the structured school setting in 1-3 years and need to conform in our society. If, and I do say if, these students don’t learn how to exist in society, they will be lifelong criminals. People are running for the hills in education because there are so many protections and rights students have, nothing can be done to remove students from schools unless it’s a zero tolerance offense…and by zero tolerance it essentially means bringing a weapon to school. I can say, there are more students now than ever before fully capable of doing one of those tragic acts.

I share this with you and everyone else to shed some light on the trajectory of our younger society. They don’t understand the totality or consequence of committing a serious crime, having a gun, discharging a gun, burglary etc. It’s my opinion, and some may disagree, those folks shouldn’t have guns bc they aren’t stable and proven they can make good decisions and be responsible. Not to mention, stricter gun laws only prohibit the majority of good citizens from being able tk get one. They are available in after markers and the streets for those who want one.

I end my post with this…At school often times i feel like a sitting duck. Yea we have officers on site which do a great job but I can’t personally protect myself. I am not willing, nor do i want to feel this way at home, where my wife and kids sleep at night.

I hope my post has been informational for everyone who has participated in this thread.

Regarding guns: You're saying we need more guns to protect ourselves from all the people with guns. Could the number of guns be part of the problem?

Regarding the kids: They're victims of our permissive society. We lower expectations then lower them again in the name of diversity/tolerance. It's no wonder they're not prepared for real life.

I don’t know if more is my stance. I have one for protection. And with the amount of firearms that are readily available on after markets, and how many are already in the hands of bad people or bad groups….putting some restriction in place, in my opinion just leaves more people as sitting ducks. My point with my post was, it’s my opinion from being in education and seeing it first hand, there will be more folks with the mindset to commit crimes or do heinous acts. I don’t have hard data to support this stance nationally but the incidents that have occurred in my county have Gone through the roof.

Regarding the kids, I feel it’s parenting moreso than society. The permissive society in our education system is due to horrible federal laws that protect them from being alternatively placed. The days of “you screw up you pay the price” are long gone. Parents believe their kids over adults. It’s a losing proposition and they are learning bad behaviors such as actions don’t have consequences bc mommy or daddy will protect you.
