I agree. I would have given Mullen one more season to correct defense and recruiting. My only concern is that as Ratliff pointed out Dan was very disconnected from recruiting. He would need to make a philosophical change.

The trouble with that was he had already quit before he was fired. In my opinion a waste of a great offensive mind.
Coach Napier is going to need to realize he either needs an offensive coordinator or become one himself. Rarely does a HC succeed doing both.
The fire Dan attitude was already in place, so he just went with the flow imo...

Ans: It's not just the recruit class rankings that make any coach successful, that's why imo.
And as an excuse/reason for Dan,,, some schools had NIL money before there was an NIL....
So while Dan wasn't getting Top 5 classes, he wasn't doing as bad recruiting as some here claim, and he was doing it before NIL and he didn't have 50+ helping him either.
But that's all now 'water under the bridge.' so maybe it's time to just move on and stop blaming Dan.

Fisher caught lightning in a bottle with Rapeis at FSU then caught lightning again with the A&M QB Simon Lebond back in 2020. Other than that Fisher has been total garbage.
As for Mullen and his recruiting, you continue to ignore the fact every class of his had academic casualties.
Now do the class rankings during Mullen for the kids that actually made it to the field. You will see that while pretty good on signing day most fell apart before taking the field.

We scored 31 on the road against the #9 team in the country. They have a top 50 type defense and that includes games against LSU, Georgia and Tennessee. Offense not a problem the 2nd half of the season. Make a FG against arky and stop a 4th and 17 we are talking 7-4 right now. We need better defense if we are going to win more games. We are I believe up to 39th in total offense and 49th in points per game.
By the way…Wisconsin finished 7-5…
