I honestly don't think DeSantis has much of a chance to win the nomination. I would hope he and Trump could come together and run on the same ticket.

I'm 78 and I call that B.S. Most of us have already lived most of our lives and endured much more than "mean tweets". We Geezers will vote for the person most qualified to lead our country and the rest be damned. I worry more about the young who tend to change their minds every day by believing every media post they read. I believe very little of what I read because most posters and/or reporters have some sort of agenda.

I think folks around your age are more bothered by the lack of decorum. It's not about being offended or faux traumatized by mean tweets.

I can't remember what question @jfegaly posted from that debate, but DeSantis absolutely had no answer. I haven't seen that deer caught in the headlights look since Mike Shula's introductory PC at Bama.

I think it was when Crist asked him to confirm that he would NOT run for President in 2024 if re-elected.

That was the question.

He's certainly best buds and speaking fondly of a lot of closeted democrats.

How do you square that with your claim that it's ridiculous to think that DeSantis is of the same mindset as the people he looks up to?

In the same way that Trump appeared chummy with Putin. Trump was building a relationship with him so that we could get what we needed from him.

It was even more obvious when Trump did that with Kim. No reasonable person believes that Trump actually liked Kim. It's a tactic.

Agree to disagree, I don't see it as being anything close to the same way. In fact, Trump refuses to build a relationship with these people and his polling numbers across the board show him even/slightly behind DeSantis at worst, and ahead 20+ points at best.

But I will agree that I think DeSantis is trying to build a relationship with RINOs like Paul Ryan and Jeb. And there is a sizable portion of Trump's base that will never vote for him for fear that he's willing to work with the RINOs to get what he wants.

And as every RINO like Haley and Pence drop out of the race, they will throw their support behind DeSantis, and that will further convince Trump voters like me that something is fishy here.

For the voter that was never hardcore Trump, this stuff probably isn't a big deal, or a deal at all.

But for hardcore Trump voters, DeSantis has to actually earn our vote. We won't simply vote for him cause Trump isn't running.

DeSantis cannot win without our vote. And unless he changes his behavior toward the RINOs dramatically, he aint getting it.

...and that is why DeSantis needs to "Forge the relationship with Putin and Kim." Strategically it's very similar.

And that would mean that those voters would "win" and their reward will be Gavin Newsome or Michelle Obama.

Agree to disagree. Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan aren't world leaders, in fact they are viewed as completely toxic by a sizable portion of the voters that DeSantis will need to win.

If DeSantis is in bed with the RINOs, then a vote for him IS a vote for Newsome or Obama.

BTW, McCarthy is another who has been labeled a RINO. He's been pretty freaking useful so far in his new role.

It's a complex game....as we used to say, chess not checkers.

I must say I like this...Still got Gubner Ron in first but I could warm to this kind of campaigning. If the 3 guys keep to policy it could make it hard to decide.

And this is why you and those of your ilk are jackasses.

A RINO in the White House is still better than a Democrat.

If you stay home on election day in November are putting the enemy in the WH.

Pouting is for children.

This is not about Trump. It's about America. You can let it veer to the left some more, or you can make a small correction to right instead of a large one, and you can try for a better candidate in four years.

It's a two party system, those are your options.
