Not enough to charge him with Federal Campaign Violations.

You seriously think the DoJ would pass on 2 Federal felonies so some shitheel DA from Manhattan could charge him with misdemeanors?

Obviously you don't know what everyone in the free world has been aware of for a couple of years now...

William Barr tried to interfere in Michael Cohen’s case before abruptly firing prosecutor: report
He allegedly tried to undermine prosecutors in the Stormy Daniels hush-money case implicating Trump as Individual-1

But a Justice Department official told The Times that Barr did not order the case to be withdrawn since there was little he could do to affect the sentence after the fact and was met with pushback from prosecutors in New York.

Though Trump was referred to in Cohen's case, the Justice Department has a decades-old policy which precludes a current president from being indicted. Local prosecutors in New York later seized on the campaign finance issue and issued a subpoena for Trump's tax returns in the case. The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the case. [trump lost]

Barr ultimately moved to fire Geoffrey Berman, who was appointed as the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York after Trump fired Obama holdover Preet Bharara. Berman, who also investigated Rudy Giuliani and others in the president's orbit, refused to leave, arguing that Barr did not have the authority to fire him because he was appointed by a federal court. He ultimately stepped down when Barr said the order came directly from Trump. However, Trump denied that he had anything to do with the matter.

See this smart guy? In red?????

Read it again.

According to the document I posted, Cohen testified that he authorized payment to both women at the direction of his client.

Regardless of who interfered with what, it is part of official court record that Cohen said he acted at his clients request.

Trump has denied this. He has also denied the affair.

I stated:

You will note it doesn't say that Cohen spoke to his client. I don't know that there is any proof that Cohen paid off either woman because Trump told him to.

The first part is admittedly poorly worded.

Obviously he spoke to his client, he's his counsel of record.

What I should have said is it's Cohen's word against Trumps. There is no record of any text or email or recorded phone call nor any witness that will testify either that Trump told Cohen to make this go away or that Cohen asked for and received permission to act with Trumps authority.

No Federal prosecutor even at the urging of the President is going to touch that. And they didn't.

If you can't prove it in court it didn't happen.

Do I think Trump banged Stormy Daniels? Hell yes. Can I say for certain he authorized hush money? No. You hire a lawyer to fix things so the dirty shit you do doesn't splash back on you.

Actually there is a recording of Cohen & trump discussing the 2nd woman...Karen McDougal's payment
That implicates the CFO Weiselberg AND David Packer of the National Enquirer of being involved

So there are more people involved in "hush" than just Cohen

No Federal prosecutor even at the urging of the President is going to touch that. And they didn't.

Limited knowledge of the facts of the case may be biasing your opinion

And given trump's hiring record especially for lawyers what makes you think Cohen was a competant "fixer"

Desperation is never a good look nail..

Clinton's payment was a legal settlement to end a lawsuit.
trump is being accused of misreporting his payment
Funny how none of them is arguing that he's innocent. They are arguing that you don't charge a former president.

No one should be above the law....especially from the "law and order" crowd.

I think the crooked Georgia prosecutor will if NY does but the feds won't. This crooked nonsense just gets him elected easier in 2024.
Elon agrees with you. I am not so sure how can we find a confidante as weak or weaker than Hillary???

Well, seeing how I am in the energy sector and oil companies are making record profits, I’d say I was right and you don’t have a clue.

So there’s that. But maybe I’m wrong. Watcha got to dispute my assertion, or are you just blabbering again.
They are making record profits due to supply squeezes both in current and in the futures market causing spot and oil crude prices to go up. Those were caused by the shutdown of the key stone pipeline, and other moves to get away from fossil fuel.

So the environmentalists get a set of their desires, the oil industry and especially Russia and Saudi Arabia are making record profits.

Who gets hurt? Everyone who pays higher direct oil prices and indirect as it makes up meaningful portions of COGS for those.

I wish he would get indicted and face just a few of his crimes

We should be so lucky. We are trying to scrub the Teflon off so he can be tried with some chance he can be convicted. I just do not understand the people who can't see he is a nothing.
Jim, Stevie Wonder begs to differ!

Sorry, but you’ve been told bad info. The Keystone pipeline had ZERO impact on energy prices, as it wouldn’t be completed for years. Plus the oil still makes it to market by other means. It’s a total red herring.

Oil prices went up due to:
1. Sudden increase in demand
2. US drilling had dropped by 75% in 2020, to the lowest in history
3. Russia crude boycotts.
4. OPEC supply cuts.

Keystone is still off the market but crude has dropped by 40% from its high. Why is that if Keystone is to blame? It’s simply due to forecasted demand cuts from a potential recession. Nothing to do with the environmentalists. US production will set a record high this year.

I could be wrong but I think Keystone affected consumer confidence and caused some pearl clutching within the petroleum industry that ended up being for naught, see Willow project.

For sure. It was just something that was easy to Blame Biden for even though its impact is negligible. There are other pipelines being completed as we speak.

And I’ve long been in favor of Keystone, but then I don’t live where the pipeline runs thru.

Russia’s Oil Revenue Drops Sharply as Price Caps Work, IEA Says

  • Russia sold crude for average $52.48/barrel on FOB basis: IEA
  • The nation’s Feb. oil exports dropped to lowest since Sept.

Russia’s oil-export revenue fell to lowest in more than a year in February as buyers of the nation’s barrels largely complied with price caps and sanctions, according to the International Energy Agency.

The flow of money into the country from international oil sales fell to $11.6 billion last month, down more than 40% from a year earlier, according to the IEA. February crude oil and product exports averaged 7.5 million barrels a day, the lowest since September, the agency estimated.

“Although it has been relatively successful in sustaining volumes, Russia’s oil revenue has taken a hit,” the IEA said on Wednesday in its monthly report.

Western countries and their allies have taken a number of steps to reduce Russia’s oil proceeds, a key source of revenue for the national budget, in order to limit the Kremlin’s ability to finance its war in Ukraine.

The coalition of nations have imposed ceilings on the price of Russian crude oil and refined products, which are designed to ensure the keep country’s energy flowing onto world markets while curbing revenue. The price restrictions came on top of European Union bans on imports of nearly all seaborne Russian crude and petroleum products, depriving the Kremlin of what has historically been its largest energy market.

The overall supply constrained market has supported all producers. This is interesting, I had not seen the latest here and as you note Europe is imposing diplomatic price and import caps. Why? Because the war had created the ironic effect of financially empowering Putin.

You also need to include Saudi Arabia.

But let's just be clear...production volume & revenue is down in the case of Russia

Russia is not making record profits as you claimed right?

And this was last year as reported by the NYT:

Yes, over a year ago for the first 100 days of the war.

And then Russia profits tumbled primarily because of war related restrictions
And now Russia can't afford fund their military effort and their GDP contracted in 2022

And here you are in 2023 still claiming Russia is seeing record profits?
