I would just hate to live in fear. I understand if you live in a bad area and feel you need a weapon to protect yourself but it must be a miserable existence.

Hey, if you're scared someone might invade your home and harm your family, by all means, get some protection.
But really, it's very unlikely it will ever happen so relax a little.
It's far from perfect.
But putting the feds in charge of running elections because you don't like how states are handling it is like changing your shirt because you shit your pants.
If you'd pop down from that ivory tower you stay in you'd see that not everyone lives like you do. It's not fear it's reality. You might not ever need a gun where you live, I've had to draw mine three times this year and that's not a record.

I am not against personal gun ownership (other than automatic weapons), but I guess I am more like Theo in personal experience. In my roughly 40 years of adulthood I have never owned a gun or ever been in a situation where I really thought I needed one. And I haven't lived a sheltered life....have lived in Florida, 10 years in Los Angeles and now Tennessee and traveled quite a lot. Been to hundreds of sporting events, hundreds of bars, many times to Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, NYC, New Orleans, etc and have done my share of drinking and carousing. However, I do try to avoid trouble. But I am curios as to the circumstance that would require somebody to have the need to draw a weapon so often. Is it in the line of duty?
You never need one until you need one. Have you not watched all the home invasions that are happening? And I HAVE drawn a gun on someone breaking in my house...when I was 14 yrs old. Yes...I had a loaded gun as a 14 yr old that my Dad allowed me to keep by my bed. I NEVER go ANYWHERE (other in my boat) that I do not have a loaded gun in my pocket. There are bad people ut there...and they usually have weapons, and will kill at the drop of a hat. NO CHANCE I will sit there and be a victim(or my loved ones) because I was too stupid to be prepared. If nothing ever happens like that....GREAT. But if it does...I have a chance..a MUCH better chance to WIN the confrontation, and protect myself..and my loved ones.

It is reality. And it is a shame. But as a MAN, it is our duty and responsibility to protect our loved ones. I can accomplish this much better with a firearm in my early 60’s than I can without one. I have ONE rule I have gone by my entire life concerning confrontation…. WIN.
And they were notified a month before they were removed (Letter sent to the address on the registration) and were also told if they thought it was wrong, they could re-register , even on election day and still vote.
They had been doing it for months. Part of the process is they sent out letters informing the people they were to be removed. It wasn't just snap my fingers, your gone. And technically speaking, it's against Federal law for a non-citizen to register to vote, so they didn't actually purge "voters", they removed names of people who were not legally able to vote. They removed dead people too.
I’m all for purging invalid voters from the rolls. It’s the right thing to do. They just need to know how to go about it.

They did it the same way they've always done it (at least since the law was passed in 2006).

So, the story that there was a federal law prohibiting 'systematic' purges of the voter rolls this late in the process was incorrect?
SCOTUS sure thought so.
The Constitution is clear on this, and the argument that legal voters were disenfranchised is crap too because VA allows day of registration on Election Day. So anyone showing up to the polls and not finding their name can register and cast a provisional ballot which is counted once their registration is confirmed valid.
