Yeah, I'm the real threat to the Republic. A retired deputy from Palm Beach who is also a military veteran. What have you done for our country to protect it and also protect the communities you live in?
Provide hundreds of jobs.Helped dozens of people start businesses. Pay taxes. But what does that have to do a person’s religious beliefs?
Did you see combat or were you just a paper pusher? People that provide service usually don’t do it for a pat on their back like you seem to.

I’m not calling anyone out. I applaud all those who provide service to others. That includes LEOs, Firefighters, even doctors and nurses. But You made a choice to enter the military and were paid for it. Does that make you better than everyone else? I don’t see how. Does the military payroll accountant risk the same as the average grunt?
But back to the original point, yes, religious extremism such as you exhibit has been shown to be very dangerous throughout history. Whether it’s Sunni vs. Shia, the Spanish Inquisition, the Taliban and iSIS,Irish Penal laws, French antiProtestant laws that helped lead to the French Revolution, etc. That’s why, like our Founders, I believe in religious freedom. I respect the beliefs of almost all religions, and the right to not believe in any higher power at all. Nobody has all the answers.
So yes, I believe Religious fanaticism is bad.

But not all 12 million who work for the DOD put their life on the line. In fact most don’t and are at less risk than LEOs, Firefighters and other protective personnel. So spare me your stolen valor.
