About that...Some of ya'll are drama queens, this UF team is in the dance for sure, it's just a matter of what seed. Getting Egbunu back and getting him up to speed will make a huge difference as we're softer than an fsu freshman's SAT scores on the interior, he adds toughness and interior defense which we need like a uga fan needs dentures.
About that...
...Johns Egbunu's knee swelled up when the Gators went to Newark to play Cincy. He hasn't traveled with the team since that episode. Not sure what will happen moving forward, but the team has never really been 100% sure he would be back, even if he was cleared physically. And if he does not play this year, he is definitely not coming back next year, medical red shirt possibility or not, according to team sources.
As for Chase Johnson, he got way behind physically and basketball wise from being out for so long. Chase wont play this year but should be fine moving forward imo. If the team can, they will red shirt him.
And yet "NIT here we come" was still a cry baby unfounded post.
Talk about crybabies. Listen, if you need to troll me on that, then by all means. I guess I earned it. But the losses we had, when they were in bunches, suggested that we were indeed headed just that way. If I end up being wrong about that, then I am very happy about it.And yet "NIT here we come" was still a cry baby unfounded post.
Totally agree with MJ. Combine all that with the new "formula" for deciding who gets in as well as seeding and who knows how it will play out. They are now using 4 "Quadrants" to weigh a team's schedule in their selection decisions. BTW, our RPI is now at #46. That is bubble territory, usually on the wrong side. Pomeroy has us a #26, which is usually a pretty solid indicator of a NCAA invite.
The next two games, against UGA and Vandy, are must wins. A loss to both and we are in very bad shape. A loss to one and we are still biting nails, given that the final four games are against NCAAT teams.
On the optimistic side, if we beat both Vandy and UGA, and win two of the remaining fours games, against @Tennessee, Auburn, @Alabama and UK, then we have a solid chance of not only making the tournament, but having a decent seed. But if we lose all four games at the end, then we are back on bubble territory
So we are not out of the woods yet. And anyone can make a good case for ANY of the above scenarios taking place, the way this team has played.

It was probably a little early, but the NIT is a definite possibility. Presuming we win the next two, and the win at Vandy is not a given, we probably need to win one of these: at Tennessee, home vs. Auburn, at 'Bama and home vs. UK. We're probably not beating 'Bama on the road, so one out of the other three, and none of those are going to be picnics. We'll probably be 8-10 point dogs at UT and pretty close to coin flips at home vs. Auburn and UK.
Even at 10 wins in conference, maybe we get in with a couple wins in the SECT. Right now, I'd put us at 2:1 to get in, but that's not a lock.
We have 6 games left, fully confident they can win 3 of them. If they do they're going to the NCAA and it won't even be a question. And let's not make Alabama into Duke, thanks.
What i said, and you having a whining, knee jerk reaction to a couple losses, aren't even close to related.
If Florida wins the next two, dunno if they will, but they're certainly expected to, they're in the tournament with one or two wins over the last few games.
You threw up the white towel after a couple early losses, wouldn't want you in a fox hole with me.
That one and the Auburn game. Pearl seems to know how to attack teams that have weaknesses and is able to hide the weaknesses of his own team. He is an excellent coach. I am also not optimistic about going to Tennessee.I didn't see too much reason for optimism from our game with 'Bama in Gainesville. Anything can happen if we make a bunch of threes, but that was a pretty systematic destruction. They are just a lot bigger and more athletic than we are. They just smacked Tennessee by 30 at their place. Of all our remaining games, I'd be most surprised if we won that one.
Disagree with you, man. The coach can only put players in position to be successful. It's up to them to execute. Foul shooting tonight has been terrible. Chiozza and Hudson have played their worst games all year. And Hayes just goes to sleep on defense too often. With 2.43 left in OT we're down by 3 and are 1-6 at the foul line, 14-26 for the game. That sucks and it's not on the coach. We are terrible at home. White is average at best. I'd love for Ole Miss to take him off our hands for us.
We've missed 5 in OT. Chiozza missed 2, Hayes has missed 3.BTW, we have missed three FTs in overtime. Two by Chiozza. For the whole game we have missed 11 FTs
No White slows down the game on offense when we get a lead and basically tries and kills off a game. We don't do anything in the half court on offense. It's very Muschamp like to be honestDisagree with you, man. The coach can only put players in position to be successful. It's up to them to execute. Foul shooting tonight has been terrible. That was later, after my post. We've missed 5 in OT. Chiozza missed 2, Hayes has missed 3.

We are at our best when the pace is fast. No idea why White slows it down. He has done this several times this yearHudson was totally absent tonight and Chiozza absolutely sucked. I know we all love Cheeze, but he played a terrible game tonight. Hayes is very limited and down the stretch this team totally fell apart. Bad shots, weak defense, missed free throws. Just no toughness and grit at all. And Maten is a star that was clutch when they needed him. Chiozza tried to be that guy for us, but he forced too many shots and took a lot of bad ones. We had a chance to put the game away with 8-10 minutes left in regulation and just got away from the type of play that had us in the lead all night. Very, very disappointing.
Mike White is the bball version of Muschamp when we get a lead. He stalls the offense and slows things down but forgets that this team isn't very good in the half court offense with a slow tempo but he keeps doing it. Terrible loss and terrible coaching. He stalled our offense.
That was later, after my post.
BTW, we just lost to Georgia. Twice this year. Once at home. A team that we will clearly meet again. In the NIT. They will probably match UGA and us up in the first round.
I will wait for the wisdom from those that don't think this is a bad thing.
Sounds more like Dumbo Fisher of bball! I hope Ole Piss takes White off our hands, but who do go after? Has to be some young, aggressive coach with HC experience, but I can't think of an ideal candidate.Mike White is the bball version of Muschamp when we get a lead. The coach slowing the game down the last 10 minutes IS a valid point. We just dribble around until late in the shot clock and then take a bad shot most of the time. But here are some game stats: 11 missed free throws, 5 of them in OT, 59% for the game; Jalen Hudson 0 points in 22 minutes; Chris Chiozza 5 points on 2-14 shooting in 35 minutes, the last 3 points coming late in OT where the game was already lost. And the really bad shots taken by Chiozza included several where he was trying to speed the game up and forced them. We don't win when Chiozza and Hudson play that poorly. Also, late in the game we weren't getting out on their shooters and they hit several uncontested 3's. This is a team loss IMO and a very bad one.
Fluke!!Despite everyone with basketball knowledge saying he’s one of the best coaches in the conference? He also has an elite eight under his belt which very few others in this league can claim
