March Madness

Leonard Hamilton looking like a total moron on the bench once again come March. I have no idea how he always brings in so much talent, he never develops it. Same old song and dance for FSU - they have really long, tall, and athletic players, but they have never develop any skills.

Because he's the black Cal, wasted talent EVERY single year...

Surprised by nole game. This team has 3 legit nba guys. They are deep too. I think easily his deepest and most talented team.

I know you hate Cal. That will not allow to to admit that his record is impeccable. Yes, he relies on overwhelming talent. But he signs overwhelming talent. And usually puts them together well enough to go deep in the tournament. His teams always play better down the stretch.

No, he is not a great X-O guy. He tells his player to go out and play on offense and he does coach decent defense. And they do

it will allow me to call out a guy with more nba talent EVERY year than everyone else and only ONE ring with all of it combined...

and coaches at a blue blood school that gets more benefits of the doubt as anyone with calls and more FT's than ALL of their opponents, and still wins...nothing

Billy D has double the titles at a football school with his ONE kentucky like recruiting class and even then not even as close from a star studded roster standpoints and Noah never even played until his sophomore year and turned him around coached him up and made him improve as much as any player iv'e ever seen... played 2 minutes in the prior tournament, next year turns around and makes him the NCAA Tournament MOP and broke the record for shots blocked ever in the tournament by the first half of the NC game... He's been in the NBA for two years and doesn't even coach in college anymore and STILL has double the titles and rings...

Yeah, criticizing Cal bc he isn't the best at X's and O's is fair. Using that isolated criticism, however, to claim he's a bad coach is short-sighted. Dude wins a lot. Period.

###s, you doing ok? The lack of whistles has made this pretty watchable thus far. It's pretty clear this will be close until, at least, 5 minutes left. Just brace yourself and keep in mind how little was expected of these guys preseason. :)

When a guy has more talent than everyone every year, it's completely fair to call him out for having only ONE title... Butler had a bunch of nobodies and went to two Final Fours in the same time period because of a coach that cal wouldn't be allowed to eat in the same room with at the big boy table...

I have no words, we are playing the best ball of anyone in the entire tournament through 2 games... This reminds me of the first two games in 2006 after losing to South Carolina two times that year just like Vandy this year... We apparently own UCLA and Virginia in basketball every time we play...

Im blown away by what's going on right now, When was the last time we got favorable calls this badly by the refs? THIS is what happens when WE get treated like Kentucky, we piss on peoples graves...

EVERY single guy on the panel picked uva, the only one that picked us the other night was Pearl and he wasn't there tonight. That black guy that acted like they would beat us like this and Bruce Pearl laughed at him and was like "we'll see"...

picked the best time of year to play our best basketball, this is really exciting. We keep this up and we might do the unthinkable and have a shot to play in Phoenix boys...

Do you not think recruiting is factor in evaluating coach quality for college hoops?

Virginia played terribly, but our defense was a major factor in that. Amazing how we'll these guys have played tonight and against ETSU with Allen and Barry not shooting it well. Other guys stepping up, limiting turnovers, crashing the boards and playing solid defense. Very impressive.

I don't care to talk about that underachiever, the Gators are going to go just as far or further than them like iv'e been saying for a month and getting kicked off the rupp cry board for it... They are all in awe right now sucking Whites dick over there right now and with their pretentious arrogance that only they can have, are turning it and twisting it into somehow making a WAX job UF just did against a good team into how good it makes them look lol... While barely scraping by a clown directional school in state and will be done tomorrow already...

An amazing stat, in 7 of Florida's last 8 Tournament appearances they have now gone to at least the Sweet 16 (7), Elite 8 (4), (3) Final Four... and Two National Championships. I think it would be hard to find another school that's done that over that span in the modern day. Not bad for a "football school"... not bad at all

Basketball team brings in talent the same way the football team and baseball team do.

They have a "system".

UF has beaten the five ACC teams that they have played in the tourney:

UVa (2017)
Pitt (2014)
UVa (2012) Interesting won this one my the same 26 point margin
Duke (2000)
UNC (2000)

You can't question all those Final Four appearances Cal has but if he doesn't get another championship in the next few years that can be questioned. Not sure what to think of him considering they get every player they want almost but he does have the issue of few remaining after that first year.

I agree with that point. I was just challenging the assertion from numbers that Calipari is not better than Hamilton. I guess I should have let it go, what with his penchant for hyperbole.

People say with all that talent Calipari has underachieved. But has he? His business model is to send 3-4 guys to the NBA lottery every year and get 3-4 green one and dones to replace them. To use that as an excuse for his seeming underachievement in the face of all that talent might seem misguided, but there is some truth to it. There are pros and cons to every style of basketball. And there are pros and cons to every style of recruiting. Calipari uses his model very well. Better than anyone. His model has obvious benefits; he is loaded with NBA talent every year. But there is a downside. His teams often start out slow and often take some time to gel. He has to shape entitled, superior athletes into a team on the fly. And he is very good at that.

No, he is not a great X-O guy. But he does not need to be. Plus, development of talent implies having talent for more than one year. I do not see him taking a Devin Robinson or a Patric Young and developing them over multiple years like White and Donovan did.

I hated Calipari when he first was hired by UK. I thought he was a snake oil salesmen that would quickly get UK into NCAA trouble. I think he is a bit of the former, but he has run the UK program with integrity. At least as much integrity as he is capable of achieving, anyway. Which is just enough to stay out of trouble.

He is good for college basketball and he is good for the SEC

Wait, are you saying that the Gators haven't actually missed EVERY.SINGLE.SHOT that they have attempted in the last five minutes of a game?
Are you saying that the NCAA president and SEC president don't meet at half court (or mid-field for a football game) just before the game with duffel bags of money to give tot he refs to ensure we don't get any calls?
And are you saying that when we lose EVERYBODY DIDN"T SEE THAT COMING even though numbers predicted a win before the game?

Blasphemy I tell ya! Pure and utter blasphemy!
