Gators to Hire Ron Roberts as LB Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator ?

LSU Early Enrollee Michael Daugherty Withdrawing From Program, Entering Portal

Daugherty arrived to campus in January, set to enter NCAA Transfer Portal before spring practice.

Freshman safety Michael Daugherty has announced his plans to withdraw from LSU and enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, he revealed via Twitter Saturday evening.

Daugherty, a 4-star prospect, was one of the first players to commit to the Tigers in the 2023 recruiting class, but will now explore options elsewhere before even suiting up for spring practices.

Florida Brings On Allen Brown as Defensive Analyst

Florida hires former Eastern Washington defensive pass game coordinator and cornerbacks coach Allen Brown as a defensive analyst.

Brown has recruiting ties in the pacific northeast, and a premier section of talent-hotbed California. His hire continues a clear plan for UF to increase its national reach in the talent acquisition market.

Brown will aid Corey Raymond — who took over the entire secondary when Patrick Toney, former UF safeties coach, left for the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, — with a retooled group of Gators' cornerbacks in 2023.

Gervon Dexter impresses, solidifies draft stock at NFL Combine

One of the most impressive things Dexter did this afternoon was his 40-yard dash. His best time was 4.88, which was 5th in the field. But what makes that so impressive is that Dexter is 310 pounds.

4* Jamonta Waller, 6-2, 225 Outside LB - Edge

"Coach (Austin) Armstrong, he was at Alabama, and he's at Florida now," Waller told All Gators' Zach Goodall Sunday at the Under Armour All-America camp outside of Atlanta. "He was recruiting me when he was at Southern Miss, so we have been locked in for a little minute now."

Gators scheduled to get the No. 1 overall prep prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle on campus this month

4* OT David Sanders out of Charlotte (North Carolina) Providence Day School is set to make his first visit to the University of Florida’s campus on Saturday, March 11.

The 6-foot-6-inch, 255-pound high school sophomore’s recruitment has been led by inside linebackers coach Jay Bateman, whose experience in the North Carolina area has him assigned to that region’s recruiting efforts.

Florida football: The Gators’ rumored permanent opponents in new schedule

From Ross Dellenger
List of Permananet Opponents

Two or three weeks ago someone else posted these same 3 permanent opponents for Gators - who knows

Nothing is official yet, but if the league decides to go with three permanent opponents, the Florida season will start to look a lot different on a yearly basis.

According to this list, the Gators would see Georgia, South Carolina, and Oklahoma every year, rotating the rest of the SEC as the years go by.

Bama & Nick Saban was upset that Bama drew the teams that they did: “They’re giving us Tennessee, Auburn, and LSU. I don’t know how they come to that [decision].”

The backroom politicking will now start - hot & heavy.

We have nothing in common with Oklahoma; rather keep LSU

It may have been that same guy but they were saying to make the schedules more like they want and keeping certain games every year Florida might end up playing Oklahoma every year instead of someone like Tennessee.

Fever,

Kept thinking that we had seen/heard this same BS about OK being one of our permanents.

Went back to GwinnettDawg's thread of Feb 9th -

Who will be your 3 permanent opponents?

You posted a link (Post #13) to this same Dweeb - Ross Dellenger & what looks like the same schedule the people at Hail Florida just posted.

Something smells here !

Should have double checked it before posting, My Bad.

I guess it could be possible if they are trying to keep the traditionally better teams with the harder schedules.

Fever,

Not sure Ross Dellenger can even spell SEC much less be trusted to know anything about the SEC's new 9-3 schedule in the 1st place.

Wondering if Will Thomas or Dellenger just needed Click Bait.

FqUzG-pWYAE-G2y

We are going to have a pretty hard schedule in odd years if that is close to what they might be planning.

Fever,

Where did this schedule come from ? Different from the one Ross Dellenger posted today (March 3rd) & subsequently quoted by Fan Sided / https://hailfloridahail.com/
https://twitter.com/RossDellenger

Until TX & OK actually join SEC (2024 ?) & the Commissioners' Office actually puts out the Official 9-3 schedules for each team, we are just guessing.

Bama & Saban / Smart & UGA will twist their Permanents into a pretzel to make it as easy as possible for them.

Can't remember who posted this one. It looks like it could be close to what it will be though.

If those 3 are true then our 3 may actually be what that one guy claims. I still think Bama may get Auburn, Tennessee and Miss State though.
Fever,

Let the politicking begin !

Saban, like every team in the SEC, would like Vandy, Mizzou and Miss St.

Alabama’s three proposed opponents include Auburn, LSU and Tennessee.

Auburn & Tenn have been up & down; LSU pretty consistent.

Saban will probably BS his way out of having LSU as a permanent.

Hell give him Texas instead & tell him its for the good of the conference & increased TV ratings. LOL

Anthony Richardson Dazzles with 40-Yard Dash Time at NFL Combine

Former Florida Gator quarterback turns in unofficial 4.44 40-yard dash.

Update:
Anthony Richardson's official 40-yard dash time at the 2023 NFL Combine was 4.43. He was clocked at 23.44 miles per hour, per NextGen Stats.

The numbers say the speed measure was the fourth-fastest all-time amongst quarterbacks in the history of the combine.

DAMN !

Some GM is going to roll the dice & take a chance !
Wonder if any teams have two 1st round picks ?

A 4.43 is crazy for someone his size.

Craver enjoys his first visit with the Florida Gators on Saturday

Receiver Mario Craver (5-9, 152, Pinson, AL. Clay-Chalkville) was on campus and had the chance to see everything Florida has to offer including watching spring practice.

Florida hasn’t hired a replacement for Keary Colbert yet, so the Gators do not have a receivers coach at this time, but Craver says that won’t play much into his decision.

“To be honest, I don’t really care about them not having a receiver coach right now,” he said of Florida not having a receiver coach yet. “As long as the new receiver coach is on the same page with Coach Napier then I believe that he will be on track with me. Coach Napier talked to me about it.”

Looks like CBN is going to take his time & get two GOOD replacement coaches !

If they get here for part of Spring Practice - good; if not, looks like he will manage & sell it to recruits anyway.

For all you old ass people who remembers this Doobie Brothers classic, Right @Gator Fever? I would have tagged @instaGATOR but I get the impression Insta is more of the Lawrence Welk type.
Nice!! My wife and I saw the Doobie Brothers in Jacksonville back in the late 70's. I prefer their music before Michael McDonald. Had a rougher edge to it that he kind of ruined for me.

Gators’ offensive line is the position group to watch in 2023 spring practice

It seems like we could have just cut & pasted this caption into a thread for the last 5 years.

In his first press conference after the start of spring practice yesterday, Billy Napier praised Kingsley Eguakun and Austin Barber for their leadership. That should be music to your ears, because they are the only experienced offensive linemen returning.

Florida is replacing, call it three-and-a-half offensive line starters from last year. Richard Gouraige and O’Cyrus Torrence are off to the NFL, and Ethan White and Michael Tarquin transferred to USC.

Barber played enough while Tarquin was out hurt and otherwise as a part of the rotation that he gets partial credit as a returning starter.

Good article -

More on Craver

Craver reminds me of Chiefs' & former Gator WR Kadarius Toney - small but fast & explosive.

"...Napier sat down with Craver on Saturday and explained to him why he’s needed in Gainesville and how he can help the Gators’ offense."

“He was like that he wants to get me the ball in space because I’m one of the most explosive guys in the country,” Craver said of Napier’s message to him. “He wants me in space and in one-on-one situations so I can get the ball and do what I do. He said that they need more explosive guys that can stretch the field.”

With Colbert gone, analyst David Doecker has been working with the receivers and he also talked with Craver on Saturday.

“Him and Coach Deck [analyst David Doecker],” he said on the coaches he talked to. “He talked to me about the receiver situation and how he’s going to be on the same page as Coach Napier and that Coach Napier is going to bring in someone good.”

At some point, CBN does needs to hire a WR & TE coach,
BUT
not having them here now, for our Spring Practice, doesn't seem like it will cripple us for player development or recruiting - for the short term.

They, who ever they are, may be tied up with Spring Practice for their current teams.

As I hoped, CBN smart enough to take his time & get 2 good Asst Coaches & hopefully, 2 excellent recruiters.

My opinion of the coaches who left was that Keary Colbert was very good & William Peagler - mostly because of his non-existent recruiting results - was mediocre ; yet both of them were hired by NFL teams, which shows how little I know.

Still hoping we bring in Ike Hilliard as WR Coach.

NOTE
CBN Promotes Off the Field Analyst Russ Callaway to TE Coach

More Names for WR Coach

Looking at the names below does nothing for me - they should at least interview Ike Hilliard

"...Some names that I’ve been hearing to replace Colbert as Florida’s wide receiver coach include
Joe Dailey - former WR Coach Boston College & Carolina Panthers
Joel Filani - former WR Coach Texas Tech, Wash State
Taylor Stubblefield." - WR coach Taylor Stubblefield fired by Penn State Jan, 2023

Gators commit DJ Lagway working to flip top-50 UGA commit

Among those who visited were 5-star 2025 OT Mason Short, 4-star Gator commit Adarius Hayes, 4-star FSU commit Jordan Pride, and a few other top-100 guys.

But the biggest. target on campus (March 4-5) may have been 4-star UGA commit Jaylen Heyward. Heyward is ranked as the 2nd best safety in the class of 2024 and the 36th-best overall player.

Heyward committed to Georgia over Florida and others in January, but that hasn’t stopped Napier and the Gators from going after him.

Lagway’s pursuit of Jaylen Heyward is very important for the Gators’ 2024 class. For starters, flipping a player from UGA is always fun to do.

But Heyward is a top-ten player in the state of Florida. Napier, ever since he got to Gainesville, has stressed the importance of recruiting well in-state, and not letting other teams come in and poach talent from Florida.

Georgia has had their way recruiting players from Florida these past few years, and that has to change.
