Florida - Miami matchup

We are better from top to bottom and we have our challenges...have the better coach/staff and the players are in their 2nd year in the system....unless turnovers become a big factor we win...or win by multiple scores.

I am not "Sad" level nervous but I think we may be fooling ourselves if we think our offense is just going to roll over this defense. Those 2 D line transfers seem to be working out for them so far and they only appear to be a little soft at safety. I hope our defense destroys their offense to make this game a blowout.

How do you know if the dline transfers are working out for them so far? We haven’t even played a game yet.

It sounds like they are practicing like when they played. That UCLA transfer is really good at separating from the blocker and getting lateral chasing plays down. It really stuck out on his 2017 UCLA tape also. He was the DT we tried to get also.

You mean the 1 guy that was a backup at UCLA last year and the other that has had injury problems and other issues that prevented him from playing much at UCLA last year. Miami is counting on these guys?? Just want to make sure we are talking about the same UCLA players.

He didnt play much last season because they changed the defense and he wasn't good with his attacking style being contained. The guy is pretty good and is allowed to play like he did in 2017 in Miami's defense. His tape shows his ability and he was doing it against decent players like at USC and Texas A&M. I don't see any of our D Tackles that have the moves he does on many plays. His weakness is probably he can be pushed back sometimes if he doesn't make his move quickly.

The same guy that couldn’t see the field at UCLA. A UCLA team that finished 3-9. A UCLA defense that finished 105th in the country. Sorry if I’m not overly impressed by a player that didn’t see the field on a lousy team and a lousy defense. Given the above I’m not shaking in my boots over this guy. I’m gonna have to see something to believe it.

Ok I hope we bury these clowns but you will see when we play them that he can be disruptive at times. Next you will tell me the VT DE transfer is nothing to worry about because he only played 3 games last season.

At least he had a little bit more success than the 2 guys at UCLA and was actually contributing before he got booted from the team. The 2 UCLA guys struggled on a lousy defense.

That UCLA guy dominated in 2017 with a defense scheme like Miami's.
2017 was 2 years ago and to not be able to get on the field playing for one of the worst defenses in the country in UCLA doesn’t look good regardless of scheme. If he was so good they would have found a spot for him to contribute. Coaches find a way to get there best players on the field.

Not all of them and maybe overall it was better to switch to a different defense that didn't value his type of play as much but UCLA was a wreck in 2018 and we luckily avoided that head coach who has checked out it appears.

It appears the DC he hired had never been a DC before and was always a position coach despite being 61 years old.

LSU 33 - 17 Mia - @ Arlington TX
LSU 19 - 27 @ UF

FSU 27 - 28 @ Mia
FSU 14 - 41 UF in Tallycrappy

Wis 35 - 3 Miami
Wis 13 - 38 Mich
UF 41 - 15 Mich

No worries mates.... ;) --- :D

Insta,
Have you become a proponent of the transitive property ? I think I remember you throwing out the old comment about "...that's why they play the game", instead of just analyizing it on paper.

Manny Diaz is in his first year at SCUM, but remember he was Mullen's DC in 2010, and has seen Mullen & his offense at close hand.

May not mean much after this many years, as both Coaches are sure to have changed their styles based on current personnell.

Mullen & Hevesy both think OL will improve over time, but 1st game against an experienced Miami front 7 will be tough.

"...Line coach John Hevesy said he has not faced such a massive overhaul up front during his previous 25 seasons on a college sideline. The 48-year-old coach did recall in 2015 at Mississippi State, the Bulldogs replaced three starters from a team that played in the Orange Bowl."

“It was early on, we just keep it a little bit simpler for them,” Hevesy said.

On top of it, eight UF linemen are either redshirt freshmen or in their first season. Three of the backups during the spring were first-year players.

I realize that we have beaten the issue of the OL & Felipe Franks' QB play to death during "talking season", but both points are salient.

I just don't see a runaway game from either team. IMO, first game screwups keep it close all the way to the end.

Hopefully, Gators come through and win the damn game !

First for the 'fevered brain's' consumption... o_O

=====

"Florida coach Dan Mullen (and the instaGATOR ;)) seems to have a little more faith in his offensive line than those who have slapped a big question mark on it heading into the season." -- Robbie

“We’ll stay with what we do,” Mullen said. “I’m not as uncertain (as some). My uncertainty on the offensive line is depth. If we can stay healthy, I’m OK. And it’s just how fast we can accelerate some of the really young guys to get going.” (sounds a lot like what the iG's been saying all summer)

PS
There has been a renewed interest in the blocking of the RB's and the TE's, which the players have latched on to with aggressiveness for their part. o_O

And as to the 'transitive property' stuff, I use it for debating purposes, mostly when there is no H-2-H action to go by. While not perfect by any means, it's better than the -- Yes it is - No it isn't, repeated over and over incessantly,,,, imoho...

One of the most encouraging things this last year (for me) is that we finally see players breaking big plays for TD's again. We have some, and are getting more, explosive players....making big plays again on offense. We've had some bad ass defenses. A lot of it is scheme but it's really encouraging to see again. We've had a team or some players (not knocking players from the past) but we haven't seen guys making big plays for a while, on a consistent basis. If that keeps up then I'm not worried about the direction of this football program...in fact we're going to blow some teams out. This might be that game...I'm interested to see how we're prepared and play. I'm also excited again and it's been years since I felt this way. Muschamp had 1 season but really he couldn't put it all together. I'm 40 years old and remember being in the south end zone when we beat FSU (13-9) I think back around '91 watching us just stopping Casey Weldon-FSU...so I've been a Gator my whole life but what Mullen is doing and the direction of this program hasn't been this good for almost 10 years. Nothing is proved yet but Go Gators! Come on Gators Get Out and Go!

At least Muschamp cared and brought some of the best defenses I've seen in G-Ville, defense and special teams won most of the games that we did...he just couldn't put it together on the other side and with recruiting...Sturgis couldn't miss anything within 60 yards and won a lot of game for us. Mac was a total pu$$y. Not an easy league to win in but Mac destroyed the program. Guy was a total quitter. East now to look back and commit on things but it's hard to understand how he was ever given the keys at our university.

I"m going to wait and see...I think we'll be okay. How good? Not sure but I trust our coach and next 2 seasons...we will be a National Contender....oh...last year we were the 7th's best team in the country lol...I was shocked too. #gators

AP = t7 ----- Coaches = 6 ----- Take your choice, or averaged = 6.5

While I was not shocked. I was laughed at and ridiculed for saying that I thought that they could win 8-10 games, depending on injuries, ect. Several told me that the span was 6-8 games, with 7 being the most likely. And it would be a big plus to just make any bowl game... --------------------- :p

Their starting DT Nesta Silvera is out for the game and they have no oline and don’t know who they are going to trot out there at QB. Tate Martell has not been good at all.

Which will make it all the more baffling when they beat us...tellin’ ya...throw logic into the dumpster on this one...

Naw, just throw sad in the Dumpster instead, and then light it on fire and then give it a push down the hill...:D

Sad, no reason to be negative brother...Gator Nation is going to take down Saban and these other teams...soon we will mop the floor with UGA and these other freaks like we used to. We keep stacking these blue chippers...with Mullen we are going to stomp some ass. And to all you leg humpers... it's coming again... you'll be like the FSU fans that have left this board...BYE Bitches!

We will win...we might blow them out. Miami has been a mess for like 15 years...not sure what their fans think they are so good. Most of their fans are clueless and don't really follow the sport...and yeah half of their fan base is in jail.... they can fill up like 25% of the stadium...high school teams do better. We are going to mow them like grass IMO

I think it is like the Michigan game. It is close for a half and then we pull away in the 2nd half.

IMO the only way they win is if we commit a bunch of TOs. In a straight up game we will beat them pretty good.

Nothing this off season has changed my mind as an outsider looking into this game. Other than their OLine appears to be more troublesome than previously thought if what I’m reading is accurate that they may start a 250lber at OT and a true freshman at their other OT position, they just lost Silvera to foot surgery, and none of their QBs have proven they are consistent. Turnovers by a strong defensive showing is their only hope. Emotions keep it close until the second half.

2013...we lost...

sadgator is still emotionally scarred from having to pull an uncontrollable mrs. sadgator off of a wildly drunk Hispanic chick...it was approximately 1pm in the afternoon...

One of the worst games (and days overall) of sadgator’s life...

Seriously...

Jeff Driskell performed in the most Driskell way possible.

That's why we lost.

Now, it's not impossible that Franks channels his inner Driskell, but beyond that we're in better shape than they are.

That's why we lost.

Now, it's not impossible that Franks channels his inner Driskell, but beyond that we're in better shape than they are.

The only performance worse than that one was his performance against Missouri where we held them to like 150 yards and lost because of his 6 turnovers. And all these years later people have selective memory and make excuses for him.

That Miami game was so damn bad. After their first two scores we held them scoreless the rest of the game until his last turnover that gave them the ball on our goaline. Still lost.

So, it's obvious that at UF, it was all Jeff's fault for any losses, but it was never to his good play when they won. It was not ever the fault of the coaches, or the porous OL, nor the 22 receiver drops in just the first 6 games...
(How many different OC's? How many different receiver coaches?)

But then Jeff excelled as a Grad-Sr xfer to LaTech.
And that led to Jeff now being a mulit-millionaire NFL QB.
Proving that it was all Driskell's fault and that he never had any QB talent...
