There is a chance that only 3 SEC teams make the 12 team playoff this year...

"Last year we suffered through having to hear Jordan Travis being out and Miami not being the same," Phillips says. "Well, it cuts both ways. Since Jordan Travis took over, they're [SMU] is 9-0. They have more Power 4 wins than Texas does. They're 8-0 in the conference." ACC Commissioner, Jim Phillips.

And you wonder why we MUST exit the ACC.

If the committee puts a 3 loss Bama who was smoked by Oklahoma late in the season in over a 1 loss 12 game SMU its going to create a big stink. I know they would love to help Bama get in but I doubt they do it. We will see I guess if Clemson wins.

Last year proved they do not care. I'm surprised Bama even has to play. Give them the Karate Kid 3 rules, championship only.

Must suck to be an FSU fan.

And still that same 2-10 $hitty F$U team out recruited every.single.ACC team but one. Let that sink in how crappy that conference is. F$U out-recruited Prime at CO too.
What good is out recruiting all but one team when they only win 2 games? The SEC and B1G clearly don't want FSU when all they'll do is free load off either conference.

With the way the rankings came out this week, I don't think SMU gets in if they lose to Clemson. Right now SMU is #9 in strength of record, Alabama is #10. SMU is #12 in FPI, Alabama is #4. SMU is #75 in strength of schedule, Alabama is #18. While Bama has lost to Vandy & Oklahoma, plus lost to a playoff team, Tennessee, they also beat Georgia, a playoff team and have wins over LSU, Missouri and South Carolina. SMU's loss is to BYU, with their only notable wins over Louisville & Pittsburgh. While I would LOVE to see SMU get in with a loss, I just don't see it happening, with SOS being the primary reason. We shall see, though. I don't think SMU is going to lose to Clemson anyway.

Bama is the one team I just can't justkfy... vandy lol then a 3 to 24 loss against an unranked bad OU team

Their SOS and FPI is way better than either SMU or Miami. I don't want them in either, but they have simply played a tougher schedule than either of those 2, plus have more quality wins.

UM played with dynamite all year. They could easily be 8-4 or 7-5, and pretty much playing a garbage schedule, which yes, included our sorry asses month one. We were pathetic then. They pulled a Corn Rows Norvell 2023 and got lucky in the NIL QB derby. Their defense is garbage too.

Again, the selection committee said it would not punish a team for losing conference championship while another team sits home. So unless there is a comeback, that will be put to the test. By the way, Miami and Ole Miss both better than Bama.

Please let chaos reign.
I'll tell you who does not deserve a berth and that is Notre Lame. They deserve a post season game in next week's Charmin Bowl, for playing a pillowy soft weak assed schedule. They will be one of the first exposed as a fraud.

No 3 loss team should go over SMU. They beat teams just outside the top 25. Bama with their losses have no place to cry that a 1 loss 12 game team gets in over them.
But the eye test says no. SMU had no business losing tonight. Clemson sucks. I am not on the selection committee, let the politics of CFB roll. There will be bitching and whining no matter what they do. 😂

SMU is gonna get left out for not playing enough teams in the top 25 and SOS

We say that all the time but GT damn near beat GA. Bama lost to Vandy who was beat by a bad sunbelt team. ND beat A&M on their field. Louisville smoked KY who beat Ole Miss. Miami smoked us etc.

The SEC is better but the reason Bama is ranked so high in many rankings is because they start top SEC teams higher before the first game. That one ESPN thing would have you think Bama might need to lose 5 games not to be a Top 12 team.

Doubt they would do it but the committee could leave Clemson out of the playoff if they wanted to.

No, they are in. The least deserving outside of Notre Dame. The conference championship thing has made CFB the new No Fun League, NFL.

SMU could get the 12th spot for the 4th quarter comeback and it doesnt matter a hill of beans to me if Bama gets in. But you put SMU, Clemson, Indiana, Arizona State and Boise State in the SEC and each team loses 4 games a year. We are gonna have some match up where teams get run off the field. I think it should be the top best 12 no matter your ranking.

Committee backed itself into this hole with conf champ loser statement. But if you want the best 12 you need to look at losses as well as wins, and where were those losses and wins. Of the 3 loss teams, I would put Ole Miss, Miami, SCjr and then Bama. Away from Tuscaloosa Bama not very good.

It's all BS. I said this when the field expanded. I clearly said the bitching and moaning about getting in would be even worse than before. The retards won't be happy until we just start the season as a tournament from game one on Labor Day. 😂 That would be fun, imagine a one game season, one and done.😂

Ole Miss gave Georgia their worse loss of the year and GA is the team everyone puts on a pedestal but Ole Miss losing to Kentucky early in the year is what is killing their chances. Other 2 losses didnt help but the KY loss looms large. That's why I also said it should be the 12 best teams in college football no matter ranking.
