He’ll field a team… with a bunch of Horizon league castoffs.

I just read something that had Kugel getting drafted in the nba first round.

Scared we might lose him. Dont see a 1st round pick but he may have showed enough late for someone to use a later 2nd round pick on him which would likely mean him taking off.

Average pickup. He’s at least better than Felder and Jitoboh. But hopefully he’s more towards the floor of the portal pickups.
I think he’s going to be pretty representative. At least we’ll have guys to wear all the uniforms.

Yeah - Golden seems to punch numbers in his computer and he goes after the names that pop. It all seems to be based on analytics. I really, really, hope the guy works out, but there's a nerd factor there that, to me, doesn't jibe with what it takes to win in the SEC and at the major D1 level. Hope I'm wrong. Or maybe I'm just old!!

If I was a functional AD, I would dvr that FAU game, call Golden in my office tomorrow and play it back and ask how it’s possible that FAU has way better athletes than UF. Like, they need to get to the bottom of that one.

To attempt to answer your questions bradley, on getting to the bottom on FAU....

UF 74 - 76 FAU

The Owls' historical ride ended on a buzzer beater against San Diego State in the Final Four on Saturday.

FAU 71 - 72 SDSt (Golden/UF scored 2 pts more than SDSt did vs FAU)

HOUSTON 35 wins. The first ever Conference USA championship and the second ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The program's first, second, third, and fourth ever tournament wins. First ever Final Four appearance. This was the story of the historic 2022-23 Florida Atlantic Owls men's basketball team, a team who will be remembered in the history books as one of the greatest stories in college basketball history.

Tolja.... "I'm back," Kugel wrote in the montage.

The Florida Gators will host transfer center Josh Cohen this week on an official visit. St. Francis (PA) transfer will take an official visit to the UF on Thursday and Friday,

Florida has welcomed — or will welcome — several visitors to campus since the season's close as head coach Todd Golden looks to replenish his roster for year two, including guard Walter Clayton Jr. (3/24), guard Claudell Harris (4/14), forward EJ Jarvis (committed and signed to UF) and center Micah Handlogten (4/6).

The iG hopes for PG Clayton, one of those xfer centers, and they still need a couple of combo SG/SF's imo.

C Micah Handlogten 7-1 227 So - Huntersville, NC - Marshall Portal xfer
Securing the Sun Belt FoY would be a long-term fix for the Gators' center position..

As a Fr, 9.8 RPG, 7.6 PPG @ 66% FG - (iG crosses fingers)

PF/C Josh Cohen 6-10 240 rsJr signed with UMass today....
Cohen presents just one more year of collegiate eligibility, while Soph Handlogten can provide more than a one-year rental.

As a N.Tx rsSo in 2021-22, PG Tylor Perry averaged 13.5 points in nearly 30 minutes/game off the bench earning C-USA 6th-Man of the Year.
A year later, averaging 17.3 PPG he was awarded C-USA PoY.
Named the NIT Most Outstanding Player, and 1st Team CUSA.
Now his first portal stop is an official visit to the UF/Golden from April 7-9.

In 2022-23, he scored at least 20 points in 15 of his 36 games, with a career high 35 vs SJSt, and was named KenPom game MVP 14 times. He became just the 5th player in North Texas history to eclipse 1,000 career points, and he did that in just two seasons. He finished the season ranked 17th nationally in 3's per game and 18th in 3-Pt%, a sign of his efficiency as a scorer.

The North Texas head coach said. “He’s elite at scoring and doing it in high pressure moments. He has great touch and some God-given ability, but boy does he work hard to develop it.” It’s that work ethic that seemingly allowed Perry to quickly connect with Golden and his staff.

Marshall center transfer Micah Handlogten 7-1 227 elects to continue his basketball career at the University of Florida. The Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2022-23 chose the Gators over interest from a plethora of Power Six programs. Last season, he ranked No. 17 in the NCAA in rebounds per game at 9.8, with 2.3 blocks and 1.3 steals.

Priority recruit PG Walter Clayton Jr. — an Iona transfer who will choose between Florida and St. John's — is scheduled to announce his decision on Tuesday. (the iG continues with his so-far successful crossed-fingers) 😉

Hopefully this transfer from Marshall turns out to be as good as the last basketball transfer player we got from Marshall.
