Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

Georgia is 16-13 with a pathetic pre-conference schedule, 6-10 in the SEC. They have been blown out in their last 3 games by Missouri, Arkansas and Alabama. Florida is 14-15, 7-9 in the SEC. We've lost our last 3 games to Vandy, Kentucky and Arkansas. Both teams on a downward trend and not going anywhere in the post season, IMO. This will be just a game of pride.

Florida's NET ranking fell to #64 after the Vandy loss. But Georgia' NET is #145, showing everybody how bad their non-conference schedule was and how deceiving their 16-13 record really is. And yet they beat us in Gainesville. That's how bad we are!

UGA did not beat us in Gainesville

I thought we beat Uga in Gainesville?

UF Women's BB ended their regular season with their 2nd straight upset, winning at Missouri 61-51. Gators are now 16-13, 5-11 in the SEC. They open SEC tournament play in Greenville, SC against Kentucky Wednesday afternoon, probably around 2 pm.They lost to KY at home by 6 on Jan. 15.

I stand corrected, CG1, Paco, etc. I looked at the schedule wrong when I was scrolling through it. Sorry people. I still maintain neither team is very good.
All good. I was seriously confused. I started to think maybe I dreamt we beat uga.

All kidding aside, White has done a decent job at uga. They have been awful the last few years. I think they only won 1 conf game last season. But his ceiling is middle of the pack.

Well Whites first improvement over Crean is not having an open mouthed 1000 yard death stare

Well we miss the first round of games but we need that 7th or 10th seed to make a tournament run and avoid Bama in the 2nd game. A&M is the much better opponent to have in a 2nd game if we advance. Might need an LSU loss though to stay out of the 8 and 9 seed.

Will have to see tonight's results for all the seeding scenarios after Saturdays final games but it looks like to avoid that # 8 - # 9 game we need to be in a 3 way tie scenario with Arkansas and Miss State to get the # 10 seed.

White's record this year is very deceiving. Their non-conference schedule is pitifully bad. They have won 5 more conference games this year than last, but they're still a really bad team with a below average coach.

Our women's basketball team lost their 1st round game in the SEC tournament 72-57 to Kentucky this afternoon. They finished the season 16-14. With a NET ranking of #79 and SOS of #72, they may not even get an WNIT bid. UF does have McDonald's All American 6' 1" guard Laila Reynolds from Maryland coming in next season. She is only the 2nd McDonald's AA ever signed by UF Women's Basketball. I'm sure Coach Finley will, also, hit the Transfer Portal to try to bring in more talent. While this year didn't achieve the success of 2021-22, where we went 21-11 and made the NCAA tournament, I honestly think Kelly Rae Finley is making progress in building Women's Basketball back to a level of respectability.

What happened with all the ejections?

A couple of Gators lost their cool, but more Wildcats were ejected than Gators. I love the passion that Coach Finley is getting out of her team. They just need more talent and they'll be competing for titles within a couple of years.

Actually it was equal players from Both teams - 4 from each

Looks like to get the 10 seed we would have to lose to LSU while Miss State beat Vandy. or

All 3 of FL, Miss State and Arkansas have to win or all 3 lose.

With the 10 seed it looks like we would get Auburn or Mizzu the 1st game and A&M the 2nd game if we advanced. If we end up the 8 or 9 seed we could end up with Arkansas that first game and Bama next if we advanced.

Need to beat LSU and get at least 1 in SECT to lock down NIT.

If we lose to LSU it appears we will be the #10 seed playing #7 seed Auburn.

If we beat LSU it appears we will be playing Miss State in the #8/#9 game but would be stuck playing Bama in a 2nd game if we won our opener.

The only ones that I would want back are Lofton, Kugel, and Richards. And for sentimental reasons you want Jit back.
Lofton and Jones are Grad students and have used up their eligibility, I think - just like Castleton. Reeves has a ton of natural athletic ability and plays hard. But because he plays so out of control and takes a lot of undisciplined shots, he hasn't seemed to fit into Golden' style of play. Except lately he's been complimented for his defensive energy. The potential is there for him. But there isn't much left after that - Fudge, Szymczyk, Lofton, Aberdeen, Lane, Bonham, Felder? We have 2 recruits signed - Thomas Haugh, 6'9" 3 star power forward and an unrated 6'10" center from Australia named Alex Condon. He needs to hit the portal realy, realy hard or next year will be brutal.

No doubt he's got to get 3 starters from the portal. We need a 5, 4 and 1. We will also need a couple of bigs for some depth. Going to be a tough climb in my opinion.

Well do or die today and the team we are playing probably just misses the NCAA tournament with a loss to us.

Golden thinks we have improved a lot on defense the last 2 games since adjusting to losing Castleton. Hopefully players like Kugel can keep up their recent play.
