Biden Solves High Gas Prices

Filled up 12 days ago at $3.17 pg, the next day gas jumped to $3.49 pg.
Today, overnight as usual, gas jumped to $3.69 pg.
But crazy enough, diesel is now down to $4.08 pg.

For the mathematically challenged, that’s a $.52 cpg spike in 12 days.

If said dumbasses work for the dealership or jiffy lube, you know why already.
When I bought my F150, the woman who sold it to me gave me a heads up that the places you mentioned will tell me otherwise.
I went to Walmart several years back for a 2nd oil change after 10,000 miles. The cashier told me that she was supposed to deny me any service because of their "get an oil change after every 3,000 miles."
I then drove all the way to the Middleburg Walmart and told them what was said at the previous store I visited. The Middleburg Walmart manager called the other Walmart to tell them they're idiots.

You live in OP or Middleburgh?

I believe it was circa 1995 when I was in Lake Charles for the Pennzoil-Conoco joint venture for Group II base stocks. After refining, oil was pure water clear. Everything was removed. Oil looked like a glass of ice water at Denny's. Pennzoil patented Pure Base and Conoco Hydroclear. Additives gave the crankcase oil a little color. Pennzoil was a bit darker with it's exclusive Z-7 additive package. Group II oils could go much further. Chevron invented the process as I recall. Today all conventional is Group II plus.

Just like those dumbasses who tell me to get an oil change every 5,000 miles while I change it every 10,000 miles.
One thing I do is try to get mine changed every 3000 miles. Why? Because I have 350,000 miles on my Tundra. I also have a small oil leak on the top of the engine and I'd rather change it than check it and add any. It's been leaking about 10 years. 😂 I think the last time I washed it was 5 years ago. So far no major repairs just aggravating stuff like rack and pinion, ball joints, and new hubs, brakes, etc.

What's your take on conventional vs synthetic oil? I've always used conventional. Mostly due to price, I just get it changed more often.
In some oil circles, today's Group II+ conventional base stocks are synthetic since they have changed so much.

Shell bought Pennzoil in 2002. Prior to 2002 I wouldn't lubricate a door hinge with Pennzoil with it's exclusive additive package with Z-7. Shell went into the Pennzoil bottles. Today I use Pennzoil Synthetic made from natural gas, the simplest hydrocarbons. I change every 6 months. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to change once a year or 10,000 miles with conventional or synthetic. I just feel a bit better with synthetic. I plan on keeping my like new 152,000 mile 2007 PT Cruiser. Full coverage insurance for a new Chevy Trailblazer is costly.

My dad had a 2000 Chevy Tahoe. I don't remember how many miles he had on it but when he died last year we sold it for 13k. The guy who bought it acted like he'd just won the lottery.

IIRC, that was the year GM released the redesigned Tahoe's and Yukon's. Near the end of that year the MSRP on them significantly dropped from 40k to 22k. I finally convinced my wife to buy one but by the time we went out to shop for one, every 2000 model had been sold and we saw nothing but the 2001 models in stock. If only the wife had agreed a week earlier, I'd have been a proud owner of a 2000 Chevy Tahoe back then. I settled for a 6 cylinder Honda Accord because I didn't like the Ford Expedition or Explorer.

Congratulations, you’ve squeezed almost every drop of blood out of that turnip.

Unfortunately for me, the ONLY oil I can use on my 2019 Titan is full synthetic. Nissan, in their infinite wisdom, decided to use a weight oil that doesn’t come in conventional form.

It‘s all good though, I prefer full synthetic anyways. Besides, I get my oil changed only when I remember - which usually comes around every 7000 to 8000 miles.

My local Jeep dealer dumped all conventional. Wife's Renegade uses 0W20 which is synthetic only. I went to synthetic 5W30 at around 100,000 on my like new 2007 PT Cruiser.
