On oil production, Biden went in with a war on oil due to his progressive, climate change left. He started with the Keystone pipeline which even Gavin Newsome 1.0 (read: Trudeau)
Then - after RELENTLESS pressure from the right and from mainstream working class people seeing gas prices at $4.00/gallon+ and stickers with "Joe Biden did this", finally let up on the leases and allowed for unparalled oil production. But make NO mistake - that had NOTHING to do with the Biden administration.
Biden also FAILED in Afghanistan which emboldened Putin to take on Ukraine which has had a massive inflationary effect in both oil and grain. How are those sanctions working? Russia and Putin are richer than ever. Saudia Arabia and petrol states then are making record profits (read it in the Economist) by buying oil at capped rates (roughly $60/barrell) and then using their own domestic production and selling it at market rates. This is US government instantiated arbitratge.
With that said, yes, my stock portfolio is doing exceptionally well. There are some things that I do like from the Infrastructure Bill - we HAVE to diversify chip production out of Taiwan. If Ukraine shows us anything, trying to defend an area of the world where there is a complicated historical claim (the lost regions are former USSR, russian speaking), etc. is hard and VERY expensive.
It also shows that a managed capitalism framework is exceptionally powerful. We lead the world in innovation, flexibility and regulated scale. It is robust to Obama, to Trump and yes, to Biden.
