So when FSU cleans our clocks for us yet again, and rational people complain, will you come back with more of your mindless idiocy? They took their foot off the gas peddle again.
They looked sloppy in the 2nd half.
They only won by 13 points.
No, this is what happened....
Florida men’s basketball got off to a fine start to its 2021-22 campaign on Tuesday night with a win over the Elon Phoenixes in the O’Connell Center, 74-61. The Gators absolutely dominated the first half and then used its tidy 23-point cushion to empty the bench in the season opener.
What's more important for the team? To beat the snot outta Elon and win
90 to 50, or to continue to develop the young and/or inexperienced against an over-matched opponent?
McKissic led the team in scoring with 20 Pt's in the Exhibition game.
Jones led the team with 20 Pt's vs Elon.
Showing that in each game, a different player can be the star/leader.
While most of them continue to be steady, hard working performers from game to game, like Duruji's 10 Pt's, 7 Rb's....
And as I've been saying since the end of last season. -- "There’s an argument to be made that the team came out the other side looking better than when the offseason began." -- The iG's 'addition by subtraction'...

On opponents double teaming Castleton:
"Castleton is very much a throwback post player. He wants to get the ball on the low to mid block and go to work. When the Gators were able to get Castleton on the left block with single coverage, Colin was superb averaging around 1.2 points per possession. So most coaches would think you have to double team him, right? But only if you’re comfortable giving up 1.37 points per possession. Basically, your best bet was to single cover Castleton and hope your defense at least forces a tough shot. Double teams had mild success if you can force a turnover, but you can’t let him pass out... the PPP jumps to 1.474 if you double and he gets the ball out. Sheesh."

On opposite ends of the physical spectrum players.
C Jason Jitoboah 6-11 290 (5 PF's in 8 Min)
8 Min - FG 1-3, 2 Pt's -- 1 RB, 1 Blk, 5 PF's
~ Still too fat to run the floor well.
PF/C Tuon Gatkek 6-9 172 (a wirey 7-4 Wingspan)
9 Min - FG 1-2, 2 Pt's -- 2 Rb, 3 PF's
~ To lightweight to not get pushed around some when inside.
If Jit could just give Gat about 40 pounds,,,,, zambowee....
Maybe by next season when they will both be needed.
~ JMOHO, but either/both are an improvement over Payne's 2020 play.
Points of some interest to me:
The Gators are more accurate from the left side at every level, from in close out to the arc. Left corner 3's at 42%
As expected, they are most accurate in the paint at 59%.
~ Injuries to bigs have been Mike's plague every year since his 2nd at UF.
The amazing thing about that is that he's still made the Dance every year.
Here's to hoping that this year is injury free, for a much needed change.
(excuses vs valid reasons)
What am I saying. Of course you will. It's all you've got.
