Why haven't the dumb-asses in charge figured out the important stuff yet, like having UF win the SEC-C almost every year, and a NC every 3-4 years, because we all know that as entitled fans,
WE DESERVE IT..... (and anything less than that is just weak-ass excuses) 🤐
True. As usual your analysis is spot on. 9 times in 19 seasons Billy D lost 5 or fewer games in SEC play, Won the east/SEC 7 times. Guess it's unreasonable to think we can compete for the sec title at least one time in 7 years...
Here is some food for thought, Billy D missed the ncaa tourney with teams that went 21-10 and 21-11. Those records are better than all but 1 of Mike White's season.
Ugly first half. Down 29-21. Ole Miss had I believe 8 offensive rebounds and we had 0. Good to see Castleton back in the lineup, but he needs to get back to game speed. Ole miss also had 0 turnovers. Gatkek got manhandled on both ends everytime he came into the game, so my guess it we will have to try and press by going small.
White's consistently inconsistent Gators are at it again. With pre-season POY Castleton (who has not actually won POY - the coaches just think he has the potential to do so, after being 2nd team All-SEC after last season) back in the lineup and Ole Miss getting one of their 3 hurt starters back (still missing 2), we're down 30-21 at the half. Their big guy is dominating the inside, as they have 9 offensive rebounds to our NONE. They're outrebounding us 24-11!! We're just either dropping the ball in to Castleton to let him go against a double team to try to score, or dribbling around doing nothing or throwing it around the arc and then jacking up a 3, where we are a spectacular 2-13. Hard to watch. Hopefully our guys will come out and player smarter/better the 2nd half, but it seems like that Ole Miss plays tough defense and our guys get lazy, quit working to better shots and then just settle.
Ole Miss had 7 turnovers the 1st half, we had 5. They had 6 assists, we had 4 - all from Appleby. Most of our guys don't work hard enough to get open to allow a teammate to feed them for an assist
Good comeback to force OT. However, when we went up six with 3 to play, White does what he does best, play not to lose.
Gator defense much better the 2nd half and they hit 5-11 3's. Still should have won in regulation, blowing a 6 point lead the last 3 minutes or so. Let's see how overtime plays out. This is pretty much a must win, IMO, if we're to have any realistic chance of getting a tournament bid.
That was a big shot by Castleton and then Jones. Lane has been a major defensive spark for us. He has no offensive game, but his length bothers guards. Great decision by White to leave Gatkek on the bench for entire 2nd half. Kid hustles, but he just isn't sec caliber player. Just wish White would wait just a little longer before trying to take the air out of the ball.
Oh, and Felder gave us some good minutes. Looks like he's still trying to shake off whatever in the heck he had.
Just in case no one has noticed it yet....
BILLY-D HAS LEFT THE HOUSE AND WON'T BE COMING BACK...
He is the ONLY Gator B-Ball coach to ever win a NC in UF history.
You can't walk backwards into the future.
The Billy-D era was different all the way around, and he never had to coach in the SEC when it was this strong, top to bottom. Georgia just missed knocking off #1 AU by 2 pts. Mizzou knocked off Bama.
In any B-Ball game in the SEC now days, anyone can win or lose.
'The Entitled Fans' only see the few negatives about Mike White, (no championships) while they totally ignore all of the many great things he's accomplished at UF.
Is there another Billy-D out there somewhere just begging to come in and coach for the Gator's 'Entitled Fans?' If so, what's his name?
Mike has never had a losing season.
Mike has made a Tourney every season at UF.
Mike is the ONLY SEC coach to have made the last 4 Dances.
Mike has never had a 1 & Done Tourney.
Mike's players don't end up on the newspaper crime pages, or out for a lack of academic progress, or for sports gambling, or whatever.... (JW - TD)
Duruji got - 4 Rb, 4 PF, 1 Ast, 1 TO, 1 Stl, 2 Pts in 22 Min.
Felder got -- 1 Rb, 1 PF, 1 Blk, 2 Pts in 10 Min.
Gatkek got - 1 Rb in 5 Min.
Looks pretty close to me per minute of play....
You're apples and oranges clueless in both cases, while your biased opinion is the opposite of the coaches on Gat.
And only dumb luck has brought them back from deficit's in the last 3 games, Mike's had nothing to do with it, either with his weekly coaching or with his game calling.
PS - KJ was the preseason SEC PoY, not CC. CC was 1st Team All SEC.
Mike still made the tourney without KJ, and he's just gone 4-2 without CC, and the last 3 games without JJ.
And if you want to forget about and not count KJ, then throw his butt off the active roster bench to free up a ship for Mike and the team. (not gonna happen)
I just wonder where they might be right now if KJ, CC, and JJ were all available and playing this season. But nev-ver-mine, that's just weak excuses, not facts or reality....

I really don't follow women's hoops, but it's very difficult not to notice the success of coach Finley and the UF women's basketball program. They left Athens victorious against a great Georgia team.
Women BB will be ranked this week. Beating #14 Georgia in Athens today 54-51 after demolishing #7 Tennessee at home runs their records to 17-6, 7-3 in the SEC. What a coaching job their interim coach is doing and what effort from this group of young women. They only shot 33% from the field today but hit 15-17 free throws and outrebounded the Bulldogs 46-35. They find new ways to win and just play hard and together. Next game is Thursday at Mississippi State at 6:30 pm.
Today was the first time I watched a women’s BBall game. Amazing energy and hustle. They have some very good players. I will be following more closely.
Speaking of Billy D not coming back, KJ hasn't played in 2 years.....how long you going to keep mentioning we don't have him? We don't have Tre Mann either, so why not just mention him too? Gatkek was first off the bench, got pushed around pretty good, White quickly got CC back in the game, Gatkek came back in one more time, got smacked around again and thankfully didn't see the floor the rest of the game.

In 6 seasons mike white has made it out of the first weekend only once
This so called deep sec during Mikes 6 full seasons have a total of 3 final 4 appearances, no titles
Expecting to contend for SEC titles once every 7 years is not entitled. It's actually a very low bar when you look at the success of our other programs. But please, continue to tell us with your muffled voice since your head is up Mike's rump what "entitled" fans we are....
Has to be one of the best stretches in women's hoops history. And doing this while missing their best player....impressive.

LOL! Auburn's been living on the edge for sometime. They should've lost to Georgia Saturday.
After tonight's must win at home vs. Georgia, the rubber hits the road for the Gator me. We're at Kentucky Saturday, then at TAM Tuesday, host Auburn Sat. 2/19, then host Arkansas 2/22. The final 3 games are at Georgia & Vandy, then close out hosting Kentucky. I don't think 3 more wins will be enough to get a tournament bid, but getting more than that will be really tough.
I'll just continue to watch and enjoy our guys playing hard and doing their best,,, one game at a time....
No 3 wins is not enough. We have to go 4-4 at least to have a chance or 4-4 with an SEC tourney win gets us in. 5-3 likely gets us in. Anything less than that and I don’t think we make it.
That’s the best to look at. They have fought and scrapped for everything. It’s good to see the young player (Reeves) and the bench players (Lane,Gatkek, Kennedy) hustling Ann contributing. I will continue to support them. They don’t give up no matter how far down they get.
I think this is close… but I have y’all needing 4 + 2 in the SEC-T….I agree though, 3 won’t be enough

Myreon Jones was great. Castleton seems playing hurt but gives it his all. Georgia is the worst team in the SEC and so this was a must win. The game in Athens is going to be tough, but they got the needed win tonight.
Good effort for sure. 7 left in conference so we will need at a min 3-4 and then 1 win in sect. Should be enough. I think 4-3 last 7 gets us in regardless of sect.
Bubble team White. Every year it's the same ole same ole. Seeing if we barely make it in the Top 68. Is that the Gator standard that's OK with everybody? In what other Gator program is it OK to not win an SEC title in 7 years and only really be in the competition for it in one of those years? Injuries are the excuse, but I can't think of another Gator coach who has gone 7 years without a real sniff at an SEC championship and have their job not in jeopardy.
As you pointed out, this is going to be Gator hoops under Mike White. Hopeful for some good fortune as we sweat it out on selection Sunday. Candidly his last two teams should not have made the tourney. Billy had better teams not get selected. For me we now have enough historical data that suggest this is the ceiling for White. Somewhere in the 5-8 range of SEC, on the bubble with an occasional decent tourney run. Next year we will have to replace most of the roster. He will be digging into the portal once again and hoping we can find some chemistry. White is a good guy. The counter is "well who else are you going to get that's better?" True, it would be a risk. But in my mind it's an equal risk doing nothing. As always I will be pulling hard for them to win and get us into the tourney this year.
Coach White is such a likeable guy it’s easy to pull for him. But for such a good recruiter how did we end up with so many transfers?
He really is very likeable and he never makes any excuses. Good guy and our kids seem to stay out of trouble. He had no choice but to go the portal route, we had some unexpected transfers last season and it left us with only about 5 scholly kids on the roster. Hoops recruiting is done in early December. But kids make decisions to transfer in April. So you have to fill in those gaps.
This is a sad reality. Keeping the kids in one place longer than a lunchtime is tough. How nice it was back in the day when they would come in and stay four years and you really got to know them.

The senior tied his mark for the 2nd-most points he's recorded in a game with 23, knocking down a career-high 7 of 11 3's (63.6%) in the process.
He complemented his dominant day shooting the basketball with:
23 Pts,1 Rb, 2 Asts, 2 Blks, 1 Stl, and he took a charge.
On how he Jones felt about his performance... "It felt great. It felt even better that my teammates were actually just looking for me, telling me, 'Run here, run there, I'll look for you." I think that's the best feeling as a shooter going in. The team isn't getting jealous, they're actually looking for me. I think that was the best part." -- Nothing to do with how they are coached I guess, but I sure hope that all of the others will keep on digressing at the same levels as Jones...

"It was just the urgency. It felt good to keep that same urgency. Even when they were coming back, that feeling of not wanting to lose. We know that these SEC wins are hard to come by. Everyone is good no matter what their record is. So, it felt good."
And any 'foot off the gas' BS needs to remember Ga's last game.

When the Gators have a team shooting slump, it has nothing to do with the coach taking HIS foot off the gas with what he's calling for,,, cause team shooting slumps happen.
While it sucks that their BIG-MAN (JJ) center backup is out for the coming nasty stretch....

I'll be happily surprised if they can get 2 wins out of the next 5 matchups.
That stretch might be tougher than the 1st 4 games in the coming Dance.
UF has lost @ #9 AU, @ #10 Tn, #15 UA, & #16 LSU, but beat #18 tOSU @ neutral site tourney.
This year, the SEC has 3 teams in the Top 10, with 2 more in the Top 25 (5).
And they could get as many as 6-8 teams into the NCAA Dance. The SEC currently has 8 teams ranked in the NET Top 56 -- jus-damn!
