And now the future of the WNBA is expanding exponentially with the Caitlin Clark Effect....
The WNBA just added 2 new teams, with 2 more additions slated for 2028.

The Caitlin Clark effect is the impact that American basketball player Caitlin Clark is reported to have on the popularity of women's basketball. Publications have used the term since Clark's collegiate career with the Iowa Hawkeyes , in which she drew unprecedented public interest to the sport.

Feb 15, 2024 · I want to give a lot of love to superstar Caitlin Clark after she recorded
41 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in Iowa’s over win over Louisville! She’s the first player ever to record a 40-point triple-double in a men’s or women’s NCAA Tournament game.

Jan 10, 2025 · The Caitlin Clark Effect has been an economic engine for women’s basketball, boosting opportunities for and changing attitudes about the professional female sport. During Clark’s junior and senior years playing for the University of Iowa team, she drew record-breaking crowds and millions of TV viewers to her games.

Caitlin Clark hasn’t just joined the WNBA—she’s set it ablaze. From the moment she stepped onto the court for the Indiana Fever, Clark’s popularity have turned every game into a must-see event. The Caitlin Clark Effect is more than a catchy phrase; it’s a seismic shift that’s brought women’s basketball into the national spotlight, drawing new fans and energizing the league’s longtime supporters. In fact, one out of every six WNBA tickets sold can be traced back to her impact. Suddenly, the WNBA isn’t just keeping up with the NBA in buzz—it’s starting to rival it in cultural relevance and economic power. Women’s basketball is ready to share the stage, and the spotlight, with the NBA. The gap is closing, and the world is watching as the WNBA keeps pace with the game’s biggest league.

As to no other talent in the WNBA, even winning Rookie of the Year, she was still #4 for the MVP award that was won by A'ja Wilson.

As the Indiana Fever tipped off their training camp on Sunday, the preseason is a couple of days away. This year, they will play three preparation games before the regular season.

Caitlin Clark will go back to Carver-Hawkeye Arena to face the Brazilian National team in the second preseason game. The former No. 1 overall pick spent four years playing at this arena, becoming the greatest player in the program's history and one of the best college athletes of all time.
A year after she left the team and entered the WNBA, the guard will play basketball again in front of the people who made her a media sensation.

Days before the big game, ESPN press releases and news announced that Clark's return to the University of Iowa will be aired on Sunday.
The game, scheduled to start at 4 p.m. ET, received a huge update on Monday.

CC might well be the catalyst that the WNBA needs to get off the NBA tit, as it were.

As long as they need subsidizing I will continue to remain unimpressed.

Stranger things have happened, Bird/Johnson pretty much saved the NBA back in the day.

Forget how to do your own search, or are you just being lazy? 😉

NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2024 – The WNBA delivered its most-watched regular season in 24 years, finished with its highest attendance in 22 years and set records for digital consumption and merchandise sales in 2024.

VIEWERSHIP: The WNBA attracted an all-time record of more than 54 million unique viewers across ABC, CBS, ESPN, ESPN2, ION and NBA TV. A record 22 regular-season game telecasts averaged at least 1 million viewers. The season was consumed for a record 136.29 million hours across all national networks. And the coming 2025 season is sure to break those records.
They are fast closing the NBA gap and the need to be sponsored or supported by them.

Seriously, you love showing us this stuff ha ha. And I am a bottom line kind of guy. I wanna know how much the WNBA made or lost in the last fiscal year then and only then will I make a determination on what I think about their future prospects. I already know that they have lost money for 28 consecutive years and if they were to come close to breaking even I would consider that a huge win. But my point remains the same show me the money. …

WBA ratings are on a par with MSNBC. Since CC, i suspect the WBA ratings are crushing MSNBC. 😂

Yet, and they paved the way for the Michael Jordan Effect, with Steph Curry and a couple of others carrying the league now days.

Jordan, Bird, Shak, Barkley, and Curry have all chimed in on Caitlin's effect and have shown great support for her individually....

Since the WNBA launched in 1996, the NBA has helped get it off the ground. Every year the NBA provided 15 Mill in support.

While the league doesn't fully fund the W, it provides some financial help. While Shak actually owns the LA Sparks.

And what is the purpose of this post? It’s already been established that outside of Katlyn Clark most of the girls absolutely suck …

So you're saying you're as excited about Caitlyn in the WNBA as you were Mike White at Florida? Remember that?

I just love the trolls, always good for yet another LOL.... 😂

Plus it helps the weak off season post counts, right Frezzz...

Looks like more than just Caitlin can play some pretty good B-Ball.
Caitlin doesn't get 337 Assists, 19 in one game, without others.
And the Fever didn't go undefeated or win the Championship, so others must be doing something...

You propping up these very, not so good basketball players is known as the tallest midget syndrome …

The WNBA increased ratings for a while last year by having the channels push it non-stop the whole season. It was fading late and the novelty of that rookie is wearing off. No different than what they did with that women's world cup stuff as there is no organic demand for the WNBA

Here’s the bottom line.

The men have been paying the women to play inferior basketball for almost 30 years so they don’t have to hear them bitch and moan.

It’s the same reason my wardrobe is the way it is….

I have suspected that someone like you is still being dressed by his momma... 😉 ----- 😁

And Frezz, see how much fun this can be,,,, just like women's B-Ball...
Besides, I gotta post something new, after having buried all of the idiot/ignorant trolls posting to my UFO/UAP thread...

This is all we need to know about chick basketball.
Correct, if you're a closed minded, tunnel vision, women's B-ball hater anyway... 🙄 ----- (Typical Trolls Excepted of course) 😉

I didn't watch any of the WNBA playoffs after the Fever were eliminated.
However, I did hear that the Final was the worst game played all season,,, by both teams.
Air Balls outnumbered 3's at one point...

But then I watched a couple of really sucky Super Bowls back in the day....
And you'd think that Danny Wonderful throwing 5 Ints in a game was bad....
Unless of course you'd watched years prior to that, John Reeves throwing 9 in a game....
Just like chit, bad things occasionally happen, to anybody and to everybody.
----

Oh btw, Clark and Bird have this in common: If you're a teammate, then you'd better be paying attention to where the ball is and where it's going, whenever either of them have it. The same could be said about Jason Williams. Those 3 are so good that they could even fake themselves out.....
😉

Correct. This thread has about 30 new views in half a day, and 28 of them are from insta.
Excellent post,,, and never let actual facts get in your way.
And I'll bet that you're still trying to convince the girls what 6" looks like, while hiding the ruler.

We do know you get a stiffy over Angel Reese's big ass fake eyelashes, and she's ugly AF. Oh, she's the only not fat chick that turns Kalim on.

This post is the very definition of trying way too hard.

Suggesting that since other people and teams (male) have sucked inthe past, it’s perfectly OK and normal for the women to suck most of the time? this is the strawman of all strawmans. So they compare favorably with some of the worst performances in sports history?Congratulations?

Reese is a slug, not a cup, and she is about as coordinated as a just born baby giraffe...
The WNBA/Media tried to equate Clark/Reese to the Bird/Magic competition,,,, total BS imo.
Caitlin can loosely compare to Bird, but Angel is not in the same universe as Magic, so no real competition exists there.
They will need to build up their 'rivalry' elsewhere. Maybe with the incoming rookie #1 pick of 2025 (U-Conn).

Caitlin has the all around game and freakish passing of a Bird, plus the shooting accuracy/range+ of Steph Curry,,,, generational.
While she also has the audience/fan drawing power of a Michael Jordan.... (he just cut her an endorsement deal btw)

Reese is just an average B-ball talent show-boat that's attempting to be a net influencer imo.
Without some drastic changes, I don't see her hanging around for long in the W as a loose canon drama queen...
