will ole miss make a run at Mike White?

Agree - LSU, UT and KY have had really good seasons, Vandy & Georgia are horrible, everybody else is up and down. I see only Kentucky make a fairly deep run in the tournament.
Agreed. Missouri is horrible as well.

I see only Kentucky make a fairly deep run in the tournament.

This is a completely meaningless statement. Win three games and you made a deep run. Just about anyone could do it. There’s 5 or 6 SEC teams, including the Gators, that could make it to the sweet 16 easy. Alternatively, just about anyone could lose their first game.

Will be interesting to see how the conference does in the tourney. Gators need to keep winning. Would be a great accomplishment to squeak into tourney this year.

The SEC will likely put 7-8 team in the Dance. Seems pretty good to me,,, for a phootball conference...

Gainesville, FL -- UF 64 - 60 Mizzou -- Florida's first 4-game winning streak is coming at an opportune time. UF, now 2 games over .500 in the SEC standings and in 5th place, will go into the next-to-last week of the regular season with a very solid rating in the NET system (UF began the day at No. 31) that will seed the NCAA 68 Team Tournament field. They took care of business, with some drama, and now have to do it again Wednesday when their collective psyche will be tested to even tougher degree on the road @ Vandy.(Vandy took TN to OT, (UF has not won there since 2014)

After you read the article, watch the Mike White 'no bs' post game interview.

https://floridagators.com/news/2019...e-buzzer-missouri-florida-instant-feb-23.aspx

Mizz 71 - 56 Xavier
Mizz 80 - 86 LSU in OT
Mizz 79 - 78 Ark
And the game before UF, they only lost to UK by 8 pts. (58-66) holding UK to 66 pts.

So, before the next BIG game @ Vandy, how about some good news? :)

PF Isaiah Stokes 6-8 259 **** rsFr
vs Mizzou - 6 pts, 2 Asts, 1 Rb in 18 minutes.
"If we can get that kind of production (in the post, down the stretch - iG) from Stokes, it'll be huge for us," freshman PG Andrew Nembhard said. (too bad Mike can never develop players...)
I expect him to continue to progress under White/Staff and be really big down the road for the Gators. -- iG

2019-20
PF Keith Stone 6-8 253 rsSr
(hoping his knee rehab goes well)
PF Dontay Bassett 6-9 237 rsJr (steady work is paying off for him, solid kid)
PF Isaiah Stokes 6-8 259 rsSo
(Stokes came in at an OG's weight, 318 Lbs, then the Gator staff got to work)
~~ "If he ever gets down to 240, he could be an all-league player," Pinkins said.
https://floridagators.com/news/2019/2/26/mens-basketball-stokes-lite-starting-to-shine.aspx

-----
C Gorjok Gak 6-11 254 Sr (if his knee ever recovers)
C Omar Payne 6-10 215 Fr (HS Sr Ht/Wt will change after he meets Green)
~~ Kevin Boyle is entering his 8th season as Montverde’s head basketball coach. He has the program well established as an NBA factory at this point. Last years star, RJ Barrett, is now playing at Duke and could be the #1 pick in next years draft. Boyle calls Omar a “pleasant” surprise” and thinks he has NBA potential, especially with his ability to be a modern big man. “Omar is as athletic of a player as I’ve seen his size in my thirty years potentially,” Boyle says. He’s perfect for today’s game in the sense of today’s NBA game. They love bigs that can guard multiple positions and could get out to a shooter real quick in a scramble. He’s terrific guarding a ball screen, he’s able to switch on smaller defenders.” (Mike also loves that kind of defense from a big man)

When Omar is near the basket, he doesn't waste time bouncing the ball, he just stuffs it. o_OAnd he will be a good shot blocker to replace the graduating Hayes. So while the post is finally improving some late in the season, I expect a huge turn-around next season with a full roster of healthy post players. ~~ The 1-2-3 positions will be very deep and as good or better as they've ever been in UF history. -- iG

=====

iG's All Time favorite B-Ball player is Andrew De'Man! He's the Gold Standard for 'a team player with Relentless Effort' o_O

"It just hit me all at once," recalled DeClercq last week. "Everything that we'd been talking about and working for, that's what got us there — and now we were going to the Final Four. I actually took a moment to think about it, right there, on the court. We always talked about playing one play at a time. Win this possession on offense. Win this possession on defense. Win that loose ball.' If we did those things, and if we took care of each other, we'd get where we wanted to go."

Lon Kruger, then BillyD, and now Mike White. The Gator B-Ball program continues to build long term, by 'Finding a Way.'

Very impressive win tonight at Vandy. Hudson and Nembhard were awesome and Hayes made some critical shots and free throws. Excellent all around game.

The SEC is #3 in RPI, behind the Big 12 & Big 10, and #2 in SOS, behind only the Big 12.
http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_conf_Men.html
So I admit that my prior post was wrong based on the facts.
SEC has turned into big boy bball last few years with many good coaches joining the league. Record 8 teams in tourney last year and projected 8 again this year. This ain't your daddy's SEC, much deeper.

Combine that with our tough non con this season and we are better than people think looking at the record. Coach White's strategy from the beginning of season is maturing and coming out down the stretch now. Defense has been there all season, offense now more fluid and ratcheting up in chemistry.

Looking back to last year looks like not great because only got to 2nd round of tourney but lost close one to Texas Tech in Dallas.....Texas Tech who is final 4 contender this year and plays one of best D's in nation.

White is good guys, he's got us chomping each year.

Particularly agree about the depth of SEC coaching. Howland at MSU, Barnes at UT as examples. They are pros. You know they can recruit and their teams are going to battle.

Great win tonight, even though Vandy is bad. That place is always tough for the Gators. I’m surprised Drew changed the benches from the baseline to the sideline. I think that was one of the reasons playing there was so difficult. Billy D used to say it made communication from the bench very tough.

White/UF is now in a 4 way tie for 4th place in the SEC.
Currently projected as a 9 seed for the Dance.
Not too bad imo, considering he's doing it with 3 of his 6 post players out for the season.

The only true Center 6-11 254.- Jr - Out for entire season rehabbing knee.
The PF/SF 6-8 253 - rsJr - Blown knee in Jan

The young 6-9 PF **** So - 3rd concussion, xfer out at end of semester in Dec.
ESPN.com bottom line: “He's a young and blossoming PF with notable upside because he combines athleticism, a foundation of skill and a good nose for the ball.”Named 2nd-team All-State in high school.

Note: White was named SEC CoY in just his 2nd season at UF. (Elite-8)

You are breaking my heart with all your excuses, er I mean tales of woe.

While the Mad-Dog - Nialed-Head - Dog-Poker circle of jerk trolls are just a idiotic and boring as we'll all come to expect...

No life trolls 'begging for some validation' on the Gator board, likely because they are totally ignored on their own schools boards...

At least here, they can get a daily 'bitch-slappin' instead of just being totally ignored A-holes at home...

Alright, while we're at it, let's go, out with the SAT's......mine was 1320 back in 1999. Not bad, but very beatable by posters on here. I was getting like high 1500's during my practice runs.....damn nerves on test day probably cost me 200 points, haha.

I just don't get the personal attacks. It's fine to disagree and disagree with passion. But why do some have to take it to the personal, name-calling level?

IrishPokerDog confuses “I can read and regurgitate” with intelligence. SAT score smack is as douchebag as it gets.

SAT smack from a dog-poker??? LMFAO at that drivel... :D:D:D

What a horrible loss. That probably knocks us out of the tourney. We looked like we had no interest in playing tonight. dawgs had lost 13 in a row. Mike White your seat is hot, very hot right now.

No doubt the Georgia loss is by far the worst of the season. And considering how well we've been playing, how bad Georgia is and what was on the line, I just don't understand how they could come out and play as poorly as they did. In the pre-game one of the commentators said Mike White was very concerned that the team might not be taking this game seriously enough. They played decent defense and held their own on the boards. But they missed some key free throws, had some really bad turnovers and just missed way too many shots, some of them right at the rim. Oh well.

We went 10 minutes in the second half without making a basket. We had 6 points during that stretch all free throws. Our offensive sets of 4 guys standing around while one guy dribbles just doesn't seem to be effective.

We didn’t play good defense. UGA shot 52% from the floor. That is terrible defense.

Good lord you guys are whiny bitches. Georgia had lost 4 straight games by 1 or 2 points each vs LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, and Auburn, all potential tourney teams. They have been on the cusp for a while.....they finally got one.

We had won 5 straight, so now we lose one, big whoop. Three more guaranteed to go, let's get it.

This is the crap that gets me. In the last 3 years he has a 4-2 record in the tourney, besides calipari, who has a better tourney record in the sec? If he makes the tourney this year, which coach in the sec can claim three straight tournaments? Or even 1 elite eight?

No Swiss!! Don’t you know that every W or L on the basketball court is 100% on the coach!? Izzo is trash today cuz he lost to IU .. Archie Miller must be John Wooden .. of course it can’t be a mix of coaching and players executing or being able to take their guy 1 on 1 when we need it .. that would make too much sense

Yep UGA had only lost 9 games in a row and was 1-14 in SEC play. No big deal.

As we speak White is blaming players again in his PC

No excuse for that loss at home when it would have locked up a bid with the soft bubble this season. White needs to learn how to make adjustments.

Actually, this loss for UF isn’t that bad on the resume. It counts as a Quad 2 loss..... the NCAA Net rating still has the USCjr loss as the worst one since it’s a Q3 loss

I still think your all’s resume is still in good shape

We didn’t play good defense. UGA shot 52% from the floor. That is terrible defense.
The reason they shot 52% is everything was right at the rim. Georgia was very disciplined to keep pounding the ball inside and we didn't have the size or strength to stop them. It's not like they were hitting a bunch of wide open jump shots. This was a game where they followed their game plan knowing they had a big length advantage and even when we were in position we couldn't stop them. We had no one who could match up with Claxton. To me it was not so much poor defense as it was them taking advantage of our glaring weakness - size in the paint. You can look at a stat and say terrible defense. I'm sure you watched the game just like me and came to your own conclusion. I saw our guys playing hard and most of the time being in position - just not having the size and length to stop them in the paint.

Gators still getting on based on resume’

I think they can actually lose to UK/LSU.... win one in the tourney and still get in as well.

It would be close with those 2 losses and one tourney win against another probable bubble team. 3 losses straight and 100% out.

Whinny? dawgs were 1-14 in the sec, check that, now 2-14. No way to sugar coat this one, it's a bad loss especially at home. If we miss the tourney may want this one back.

UGly's last 4 losses have come by a combined total of 9 FREAKIN' points... o_O
They are better than their W/L record, just like UF is.

Five SEC teams are now tied for #4 (9-7) in the SEC with UA one game back at (8-8).

The Gators are now 5-1 over the last 6 games. When it was 5-0 the trolls disappeared. As soon as they lose a game, out come the lip-flappin' trolls again...
IF this,,, IF that,,, ohhh bite me...

4 losses were by 9 points so its not like we lost to a real 2-14 SEC record team at home. ;)

Sometimes, it's the other team that has someone break out and light it up...

Sophomore forward Nicolas Claxton scored a career-high 25 points by hitting nine of his 12 field-goal attempts, both 3-point tries and all five of his free throws, plus added a trio of blocked shots and a couple steals over 35 minutes. The Bulldogs (11-18, 2-14), ranked in the bottom third of the SEC in scoring offense (67.9 points per game) and field-goal percentage (.417), shot 56 percent for the gametheir best in league play this season — and went 5-for-5 from the floor over the last five minutes when the Gators (17-12, 9-7) desperately needed a defensive stop. Georgia's 6-foot-11 Nick Claxton used his length to cause a lot of problems for the Gators, on both ends of the floor. (while the Gator's 6-11 254 center has been a 'no-show' for the entire season...)

Florida, meanwhile, shot a woeful 37.5 percent for the game, including 5 of 21 from the 3-point line (23.8 percent), against a team that came in ranked last in the league in scoring and defensive field-goal percentage. Hudson, with 13 points, was the lone Gator to reach double figures, and he was just 4-for-13 (30.8%) on the night.

Defend, execute your offense and MAKE your shots. Otherwise, the other team wins.
Pretty simple really...
