Despite being a Georgia hater obviously I would say they just slightly beat expectations in the regular season in 2018. A lot of talking heads were saying a couple of losses there pre-SEC game due to all the turnover and I would be a little hypocritical if I acted like that bowl game meant a whole lot with how non-playoff bowl games are now.
Georgia with their Bama level roster now has no excuse not to be at least 11-1 pre-SECC game in 2019 and no excuse for losing to Bama again either.
We definitely overachieved big time based on expectations and finally had a functional offense and a good running game.
As far as this season I tend to agree a little bit with you and think we could go 9-3 regular season again but be a team that is actually better overall and ready to make the next move in 2020. I think this because a lot of people forget this team had some issues on defense last season and gave up an average of 30 points a game in our 6 SEC east division games. You won't be going 10-2 or better in the SEC doing that no matter what the offense is doing.
As far as potential recruited talent on the roster a big surprise to many was we were 12th in the country on that in 2018 and look to move up to 10th or 11th this season it appears. It was also crazy in 2018 how much that stat showed the top teams compared to past years - only FSU and USC were the exceptions when usually like 1/3 of the top 12 in that stat is.
I noticed this thread quieted down when I threw out those Kirby vs Mullen stats
Mullen at MsSt 6-2 in Bowls.
Mullen at UF 1-0 in Bowls.
Mullen's Bowl Record is 7-2.
4th & Dumb at UGly 2-2 in Bowls
He's lost as many bowl games in just 4 tries as Mullen has in 9.

So far we've won an SECC, a Rose Bowl CFP game, and went 2 years beating every East team by 2 scores. It's a good start. The first number one class will be juniors this year. We'll make some noise.
As always, but it's mostly just UGly noise while barkin' at da-moon...
