Your either missing or ignoring a very important part of the evidence here. I am a bit surprised this hasn't gotten more media attention because it ties everything together and is, IMO, the most important documentary evidence. And thats Alan Weisselberg's notes. It may be its too complex for the average guy to digest. I have been waiting to see if the Trump side was going to try and claim it wasn't his notes because it's incredibly damaging to Trump. Trump could also call AW as a witness if they were going to claim they weren't his notes, but doesn't look like that is happening. The prosecution wouldn't call him because he would just take the 5th, but the defense could if he would help them.
But the notes prove several things. 1) This wasn't any retainer.....he spells out what they where paying Cohen for. 2) It proves the Trump organization paid for the $130K and that the Trump CFO new exactly what the payments were for 3) They "gross the payment up" which goes a long way towards proving they were not just trying to hide that this was a reimbursement but that they were disguising it as legal fees, which is a crime. No other reason to gross the payment up that way. 4) Proves that Cohen did not act alone on this..... the CFO knew everything.
The payments ended up being $420,000. IMO its simply not reasonable to believe that Trump would pay this amount of money without knowing what it was for. Especially since the ultimate payment to Daniels was only $130K. Trump certainly would have had the difference explained to him. And there is no way on Gods green earth that AW took it on his own to pay off a porn star and gross up the payment without Trump's knowledge at a time when Trump is running for president. It's just not reasonable.
The other part about whether this is something that should take down a president is certainly something that can be debated. I think in a vacuum I would probably agree with you........but its not a vacuum and Trump has a very long list of troubling behavior already on his resume.
