Big cities and their immediate suburbs are blue, even in red states. Any neo-Confederacy would have to look like swiss cheese.
Red vs Blue is a mostly a function of population density and educational attainment.
A better alternative would be for malcontented Trumpers to vote with their feet. Their cultural values are more in line with Russians than the West, and Russia needs the population.
