UF vs FSU Rivalry has apparently come to an end :(

So if you were a fan for 10 years you were around in 2007, 2008, and 2009 when Florida beat the Noles by a combined score of 127-37. These things are cyclical and Florida won’t be down forever. Enjoy it while you can because I have a feeling Florida is going to have the decided coaching advantage from now on.
Wake had similar run against us around the time I first became a fan. These days, especially this past season we've had a much tougher time handling them versus the Gators. I do not consider them a rivalry either.
And Missouri has run against us the same time FSU has enjoyed one of their rare runs. I do not consider them a rivalry either.
See, Miami I consider a rivalry because we recruit head to head against them, despite our lopsided record, for many of our players. I don't know the last big name we've had issues recruiting against UF with... Treon Harris maybe? I understand rivalry dynamics, but UF is pretty irrelevant to FSU and always has been since I've been following the sport. I really dislike having to play them once every season, it'd be nice to schedule a new SEC team every year in that slot.
We'll have to agree to disagree. As a product, the UF game is one of the worst that FSU plays year in and year out. And I'm someone that absolutely hates watching us play FCS programs and poor FBS programs. I think it's a disservice to the fans. I've read about some good games we had back in the 90's, but that was a long time ago and the world has changed. We need some new blood in the schedule. I would love if we played Georgia, or South Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, etc etc. Real big name opponents.
Texas is a dumpster fire. USCjr!? Are you kidding me? OSU has never beaten FSU and I think FSU hasn't beaten OU (if they have, I can't remember). Regardless, the UF/FSU rivalry is one of the biggest in college football; to both the fans and the players. You need to do a little more research and expand your criteria outside of the 90s.
What makes it so big? FSU holding the ball above their head just out of arms reach for 4 quarters? The one "big time" opponent on the schedule I dread. You are building this game up like it's Clemson or something... This isn't a knock on them, I promise, I just feel the programs have drifted too far apart to be concerned with one another.
You do realize that when you started paying attention to this series they could have said the same thing and had more of an argument right? Coming off two national titles and in the mix for a third while beating us for six straight which unfortunately we have never done to them?
Exactly. Most UF fans thought we’d win every game for the foreseeable future entering 2010. The games UF won were total blowouts and FSU wasn’t even in their stratosphere. Again, things can change quickly in college football. Florida will be back.
As far as football goes, FSU has...
(1) A winning or even record over uf starting at 1971 from any year to present.
(2) A 5 game winning streak over uf
(3) Better facilities
(4) The first national title and a more recent national title
The only argument for uf having a better football program overall is its series record, however uf went 16-2-1 in its games against FSU from 1958 to 1976. These results are clearly not in any way indicative of the future or current quality of the programs.
Academically, FSU far outperforms its expectation with respect to funding versus uf.

I agree, the facilities are catching up soon. You guys have had a better decade to this point. We had a better '00s.
Florida is our state's flagship, as evidenced by it's funding. I stand by the statement of having the most even instate rivalry in the country when it comes to football.
Our overall athletic department is stronger, we have numerous swimming, track and field championships. Our softball program is the best in the nation. Our baseball team just won the CWS and looks primed to do it again. Our basketball team has numerous Final Fours and two titles. We are the only school to win a basketball and football national title in the same year.
I have respect for your program.
Add in we are the only school in the state to win a Natty in all 3 of the big sports.
I believe the difference back then had more to do with commitment after winning. FSU has taken our winnings and invested vs what I've seen UF do. We've replaced a legendary coach with another coach that gave us another title. We've built amazing facilities and are going to break ground on a 75 to 85 million dollar stand alone facility, the most expensive in the country. And the new squad of coaches, are awesome recruiters, racially open minded and appear to have what it takes to bring in yet another title. I don't see the same commitment in Gainesville. I wish I did, but I think now is the time to cut the cord on what may have once been a pretty good rivalry. Like I stated earlier, I'd rather use that game slot and either put our efforts into bringing in a quality opponent or just using the game as a practice because we'll most likely be preparing for the following week's championship game and then hopefully a playoff run. UF is probably the worst of all worlds, outside of satisfying the old folks who I guess like boring football.

I haven't visited War Chant since like 2002 and I don't know anything about FSU campus other than Doak Campbell Stadium and still think of it as a rivalry.
Meanwhile this guy knows every flower at UF but claims UF is not important.
I might not know "every flower" at UF, but I do know what boring football is. You seriously don't think what happens every thanksgiving weekend is worth your time do you? Do you have family? Kids? Friends? Maybe spend the afternoon tossing steaks on the grill and taking a dip in the pool?
Mullen, IMHO, is akin to the Buc's bringing Lovie Smith back to town. It's more nostalgic than anything else. He was okay at Mississippi, was he ever up for any other big time gigs during his tenure there?

I haven't really watched a full UF/FSU game since like 2005. Duck season is in full swing by Thanksgiving Weekend.
The series goes in cycles with only part of the 80's, entire 90's, and early 00's being back and forth. Right now the pendulum is in your favor. It won't always be that way no matter how much FSU spent on a stand alone facility.

They are cyclical and u have literally said this about the last 2 as well. Ho estly, i just want it to be competitive again, sick of looki g at the schedule and checking it off as an ez win. Im serious, i havent felt that UF was going to beat us in awhile, i thought maybe this yr....but jesus. I want the days back where the winner of this game is now in the cfb playoff. I like when we can claim a tough schedule because of UF. Granted the ACC has been very good but it doesnt hurt when an OOC team is good and especially if its a rivalry game

What is even going on in this post? You are justifying keeping a boring football game with a couple digital renderings, two fat girls and an empty stadium?
Perhaps you're not out and about as much as you once were...or you live in a very small town.
Then again, I notice you refer to "fans" - and that likely includes persons who are just that - fans of FSU who did not attend/graduate from FSU.
Just like many fans of the Gators have never set foot in a classroom on the UF campus.
