I wasn’t a fan of NIL and certainly not a fan of the transfer rules now. I get the reasons why there is a NIL but I thought it would do more harm than good and I believe that is exactly what is happening. Most of these kids could care less about the school anymore.College sports has been completely destroyed.
And consequently, sadgator cares very little about them anymore….Most of these kids could care less about the school anymore.
…hard to know who or what you are even rooting for these days…
Mostly Hemlock, disguised as Truffles.... 😉
Bonham seems like a reach. Pretty big step up from VMI....
UF hoops signee Jalen Reed reopens his recruitment
One of Florida's basketball signees from the 2022 class has reopened his recruitment.247sports.com
Agree, but better to Indiana than another SEC school.I hate losing Reneau to Indiana. With Castleton and Jitoboh returning and Fudge coming over from LSU maybe he thought he wouldn’t get enough playing time to pull a “one and done.”
I'm thinking we need 1 more. Two incoming Gators make The Athletic's best-fit list out of the transfer portal
Will Richard and Alex Fudge figure to be two big additions to the Florida roster this season.gatorswire.usatoday.com
Good point.Reed probably signed on the assumption that Castleton would be gone and he could start right away. (Just a guess on my part) Can't blame the kid for exploring other options while still maintaining communication with the new coach.
Could be spot on....my guess is Reeves did the same thing.Apparently UF having 5-star #4 PF Malik Reneau in the same class didn't scare Reed off, but Castleton returning for just one season did???
I'm just not seeing it, but I guess that anything is possible....
My own WaG is that he's positioning himself for some of that NIL perk that Colin got to return.
The fact that Reed has not visited nor signed with anyone else yet, seems to strengthen that line of speculation.
But I'm just as clueless about what's going on as any other outsider.
I'm sure hoping for whatever reason, he stays with UF.
Florida basketball misses out on transfer PF Johni Broome to Auburn
Todd Golden couldn’t beat Bruce Pearl and Auburn for one of the top big men in the transfer portal.gatorswire.usatoday.com
From the article...Because Castleton is here?
Probably because Bruce Pearl is the ultimate sleazeball used car salesman that got him more money than our "Golden" boy could get for him.Because Castleton is here?

Well, that question has now been answered....
The Tigers confirmed the signing of four-star power forward Jalen Reed via news release. "“It is a special day in Baton Rouge as we welcome Jalen Reed and his family to LSU,” McMahon said. “Jalen is an incredibly skilled and versatile forward at 6-10. He has the ability to create off the dribble and scores the ball from multiple levels on the court."
We got Fudge from them, they got Reed from us. The question is which of us came out better for the swap???

SF/PF Fudge 6-8 185 - in from LSU
C/PF Reed 6-10 220 - out to LSU
With both Castleton 5th-Sr and Jitoboh Sr likely gone after this season, Reed could have stepped right in to the center position for the Gators. Now Golden needs to get busy recruiting a couple of centers. One off the portal and a 2023 HS recruit. PF CJ Felder is also a Sr.
Mike had that covered with a 5 star 6-10 PF/C and a 4 star 6-8 PF, but they have both bailed out on Golden....
Golden has squat so far for big bodies at C or PF for next season. He's going to need 2 of each (C & PF).
(IF they aren't good enough to go Pro, Jitoboh & Fleder could do a 5th year I guess?)
Just for an Oh BTW for a few here....
SF/PF Gatkek 6-9 172 - bailed out on, or was turned away by Golden
SF/PF Fudge 6-8 185 - Fudge is obviously more talented, but I still wouldn't have minded having both of them skinny twigs, blowin' in the wind....
Keep the hemlock away from my cows. I will try truffles though.Mostly Hemlock, disguised as Truffles.... 😉
You keep on repeating that same incorrect line of BS freveredbrains.Well I hope Golden shows he is better in game and doesn't make a habit of slowing things down to create a loss.
Steve Russell said exactly that about KJ on his radio show today. He said the UF medical staff was never going to clear him to play for the Gators and if he wanted to ever pursue a basketball career he had 2 choices: Declare for the NBA draft and hope a team was willing to take a chance on him clearing protocols and being able to return to the level of play he was at when he had his "incident". Or, transfer to another school who would let him play. He made the only probable choice that was available to him - throw his name in the portal and see if any school was willing to give him a chance. I wish him nothing but the best - but most of all a long, healthy life. You keep on repeating that same incorrect line of BS freveredbrains.
That's the only habit I can see in this.
Why don't you go take a look at the number of times that a MW coached game was lost in the final 3 minutes when they had the lead, (4-5 times if I remember right) in his years as the Gator coach.
Jus-damn man, he's gone, so why can't you let that lie end here???
=====
As to KJ to the portal. He was never medically cleared by UF's medical staff an likely would never have been cleared to play at UF, so I don't see this as a big deal.
Can't blame the UF medical staff. What they most likely don't want to see is the same thing that happened to Hank Gathers during a conference tournament game back in 1990.Steve Russell said exactly that about KJ on his radio show today.
