1) Your Defense is great and easily the best Defense we played all season. Clemson's and Boston College's defense were close but no doubt Florida is the best we've played. You aren't #1 in the country in scoring defense for no reason.

2) I wonder what the game may have been like with Will Grier and Demarcus Robinson. My hunch tells me it would have gone down to the wire. Literally might have been a 20-17 type of game. Grier wouldn't have put up 40 points on our defense or anything but he would have at least gotten some things going. You just needed a competent offense to make the game competitive and Treon Harris just wasn't able to provide it.

3) What are Harris's shortcomings? a) He is a little short and gets a lot of passes batted down. Russell Wilson is short too but a short QB has to find passing lanes between the linemen and that requires a feel that Harris just doesn't have. b) He isn't quick on his reads and able to drill the ball into tight coverage like he needs to do against a secondary like ours. Grier would have given you guys a better chance.

On to next week and the Bama game. One, Florida's best chance is to have Bama do the kind of things they did against Ole Miss and turn it over 5 times. Second, Florida needs to play a clean game offensively and limit turnovers themselves. Three, they are going to need to play well in the Special Teams and make something happen like a blocked kick or punt or a big punt return. They are going to have to get points in unconventional ways. Not having much of a Field Goal kicker makes that even more problematic.

Last, good game last night and I look forward to you guys continuing to get better and make this rivalry what it used to be with both teams perennially Top 5 and Top 10 teams.

Based on how the game last nigh played out...with Grier and Robinson Florida wins easily.

The 13-2 lead...at that point...should have easily been more like 20-10 Gators.

Maybe SOW adds a late TD to get to your predicted score, or Florida fats another for 27-10.

But, suspensions and the like are part of the game and Florida was unable to overcome that...so it is what it is.

Ok. So we've got NFL players everywhere in our secondary and a ferocious pass rush and yet Grier would have just went right through our defense. I've got it. Anyway, it's pure speculation.

Yes.

All that talent, and receivers were running wide open, only to be missed by ten yards on some throws.

Sorry.

I do think UF takes a 7-0 lead with Grier at QB. He doesn't miss that wide open Callaway in the 1st quarter. After that who knows what happens.

Certainly, it would have been a closer game. Grier might have made a couple of TD throws that Treon missed. But, it's a stretch to say that he alone accounts for 25 points.

I think Vegas had it right with -2, if Grier was playing.

That game was much closer than the score indicated. It's a much different game if UF takes a 7-0 lead on that missed TD pass to Callaway. Maguire isnt a good QB. Better than Harris but that isn't saying much. FSU couldn't do anything offensively in the first 3 quarters of the game. Cook only had 26 yards rushing at the half.

Oh please. The last two TDs were garbage time. And if Grier was playing, the spread would probably have been in Florida's favor

Scmidty, I think you are new here? Regardless, they won't give FSU credit for the win.

Grier would have hit them when they were open. But I didn't see wide open receivers all night like you guys said. There were times that they showed the replay and there were no receivers open at all which left Harris nowhere to go with the ball. What is Grier going to do in that situation? Couple that with the pass rush that we generated and Grier being slightly less mobile than Harris and Grier alone doesn't represent a 30 point swing. I know you guys would like to make yourself feel better but the only thing we know for a fact is what the scoreboard said at the end of the game.

There were six wide open guys that Treon threw to. He missed them all...badly. Two of them were for TDs. The first one was on the first drive of the game.

Lol, the legend of Grier grows every week. Dude was serviceable at best but you guys act like he was Heisman level.

One of those was in garbage time with the score 20-2.

He is better than Harris. No doubt.

Both were, imo. But whatever. If you need to pretend otherwise, by all means, have at it.

Yeah, how could anyone watch that game and not think the gators were clearly the better team.

Grier is actually more mobile than Harris. Congrats on the win. You were the better team and deserved the victory. Nobody is saying UF should have won yesterday's game.

But are you saying Callaway wasn't wide open down the sidelines in the 1st quarter with that bad underthrow from Harris? If that was a halfway decent throw UF is leading 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Fortunately for you guys it was an awful pass.

No UF WRs weren't open Everytime he dropped back to pass but there were quite a bit of missed throws to open WRs from UFs QB. 2 of them were to wide open Callaway that would have both been TDs. Harris missed and that's that and a good reason why UF lost the game. Yes FSUs defense is good but there were points to be had by UFs offense that they didn't capitalize on.
UF needs a QB in a bad way to compete for conference and national championships.

I would say Grier is a bit better than serviceable but even serviceable hits that wide open Callaway in the first quarter for a TD. The best offensive game UF had this yesr was against Ole Miss. You saw what Grier is capable of in the passing game. He's a much better passer than Harris or do you disagree?

The difference in the game was our bad qb was slightly better than the gators bad qb and Dalvin Cook finally getting to beast mode late. Neither team is going anywhere if smag and th are starting for either team next year.

You guys have to admit that mac has you way ahead of schedule. How many of you actually prediced 10-2 east champions this year? Admittedly it was done more with smoke and mirrors and the collapse of the sec east, somewhat like our 12-0 last year, but still this was a hell of a coaching job gven what he inherited and the limitations you have at qb and o line.

Now on to the seccg. I expect bama to smoke you guys, but who knows in this crazy year. Their o isn't exactly world beaters and they have shakey qb play too. Maybe they have another 5 turn over special and the gators shock the world? Stranger things have happened and I would love to see you guys serve up a nice steaming shiite sandwich to saben next weekend. Good luck.

Grier is far better than Harris. And he played well against Tennessee and Ole Miss in games you don't win with Harris playing. However I don't think either of those defenses are as good as FSU.

You think McGuire played poorly? He stood in and delivered the ball on time with a rush in his face all night. I don't think he's great but his two first road starts were at Clemson and the Swamp. He's played much better than I thought he would.

He certainly did not lose the game for you guys. But he did miss some guys that were open on several occasions. But he is better than Harris with a better arm.

Nolie we don't need your shit today. Would you want a Tiger or some from that 3-9 G.Tech team telling you why you lost to them?

Enjoy your victory but don't act like you are here to be nice.

I went over and congragulated the fans of both of those teams when we lost to them. And I don't mind them posting an objective post about the game.

Serviceable? Grier was much better than just serviceable when the suspension came down. You have to consider how bad the offensive line is. He was a play maker. He made throws into the seams and hit receivers on their breaks. Harris is either blind or too short and honestly I don't think he has a clue about progressions. He holds the ball after his receivers have gotten separation then he stares them down and throws WAY too late. Receivers have been running wide open for several games, just like last night. It's not a new phenom.

FWIW, "just serviceable" was all it would have taken to get a win last night. The defense played their asses off and finally just gave out of gas. Cook was no factor at the half, and UF should have put at least 17 on the board by the break. That's how these games play out when you don't have a QB. Harris has progressively gotten worse every week, FAU has one of the worst defenses in college football and looked like Bama against UF.

I saw validation on the scoreboard. If we play Iowa in the Peach bowl are you going, MJ? You went to school up there, right?

Schmidty you are such a great guy. I'd rather lose to a 9-2 ranked team than to be embarrassed by an AWFUL G.Tech team. You have one thing and it's Cook. We played with about 15 injuries on defense and our best WR suspended the idiot. At FSU there is no way Fisher would suspend Cook for missing curfew. He's a dick BTW. He should've taken a knee but ran his 1st string RB with almost no time left. Stuff coaches will use as fire next year.

Maybe his anger of a Gator nailing his wife.

[QUOTE="gatorshime, post: 516005, member: 662" You have one thing and it's Cook.[/QUOTE]
I disagree with that statement. Kicker made all his kicks. Reciever caught a TD pass. QB threw a touchdown and even scored a safety. FSU is not a one trick pony like LSU.

I know one thing. This game showed us how far we fell behind in recruiting, and I for one am confident it will not stay that way. Cycles!

We are going to get destroyed in the first half. ...lol but yeah I'm happy with where we are with Coach Mac...I was hoping for a 7 win...maybe 8 wins max.

Key take away. (1) Coaches did the best possible job given Muschamp's incompetency with Offensive players leaving us with dittly squat at QB and O line. (2) Fisher ten times smatter than Muschamp giving us Harris and taking Cook. (3) Harris should kick filed goals, doesn't matter who plays QB could not get any worse.
