The spiritual battle is heating up

So this girl I very much want to sleep with wants me to watch Ring by Spring with her when she gets home from church.

I just read the summary and I'ma need y'all to pray for me.

See, this is the great part about being married...my wife doesn't make me watch stupid crap in order to make the sex with her. She just completely takes it off the table so I get to watch what I want.

I just don't see what difference it would make.

I do think if Satan exists he is absolutely bisexual. If for no other reason that's he's been playing for the same team for 6 thousand years. Plus. it's sexist to only seduce one gender.

The idea of a heterosexual Satan seems less frightening to me. So yea, I'd guess bi....and packing serious heat.

Here is the thing.

I'm averse to marriage on general principles. The monogamy doesn't bother me at all.

It's because I'm not marrying anyone that's dumb enough to to want to marry me, and because marriage is the noblest of institutions.

And I don't want to live in an institution.

the trade has most certainly worsened....very unfortunate actually.

You've never opened a Satanic Bible so you don't know what is inside it. I'll get back to that in a second.

Pretty much everything in that video is something that would concern me except the Satanic Bible.

If I told you I was a Christian but I didn't follow the teachings of the Bible or believe in the holy Spirit, and you quite rightfully told me I don't get to call myself a Christian and I told you that I know more about my religion than you do, or Christianity is whatever I want it to be, I imagine you'd be at the very least indignant.

And that's what I have to deal with. In addition to Gen z idiots calling me a gatekeeper and an elitist for not buying into the idea of Satanic denominations and the Satanic community, which is a myth BTW, I have Christians lumping me in with metalheads, rebellious teenagers, and psychopaths who torture animals.

I've read several books and websites authored by Christians about Satanism that are so completely full of shit I wonder if that's where the idea for fake news comes from.

If you want to define your religion, fine. Don't define mine.

The Satanic Bible is a collection of essays, and an explanation of the three basic types of rituals. That's it. And nowhere in the Satanic Bible or the Satanic Rituals is there anything that would show your child how to summon the devil, demons, evil spirits or how to commune with the dead. Or any other nonsense people believe in that I'm not aware of.

Nobody here knows anything about Satanism but ReRe, and near as I can figure, has any inclination to learn from a legitimate source.

I have a post-life question for you. Considering all that you choose to believe and disbelieve, how would your conversation be like if you were indeed standing alone in the presence of Jesus Christ?

What is it you want us to know about Satanism and the Satanic bible that makes it/you so unique and qualified to discount any form of afterthought on the life ever after? Because that's exactly what you are doing.

What is life about? The meaning of life? Is it ranting with lunatic Christians on the internet? Working just to earn a comfortable living? Watching TV shows that simply entertain us? And then we die? Life has a purpose...

I'd say hello, and if he was taking questions ask him about certain details of God's plan I'm not a fan of. Then I'd go to hell I imagine.

I dont want you to know anything about either. I would like you and your ilk to stop speculating on it.

And Bitch I'm fabulous.

A. I acknowledged that it was sacrilegious and it was somewhat tongue and cheek.

B. I don't know who is or isn't going to hell. I've heard the warnings and I believe that if I don't accept Christ as my Lord and Savior, I'm going to hell.

C. Jews, imho, seem to serve a special purpose for God in that they will lead people to Him during the tribulation. What does that mean? Honestly I don't know. But I do believe that they are His chosen people and I believe that has significance.
Sometimes, things just don't add up in my mind because I cannot fathom anyone going to hell, especially me. LOL. But I have to then sit back and realize that the bible is full of verses that say the ONLY way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. It's not cryptic. It's written for all to see and understand. For many, they have had many opportunities to turn from their life to a life in Christ, but chose not to.

In His day, Jesus pissed off a lot of Pharisaical preachers of the Law of Moses. Even when Jesus performed a miracle right before their eyes, they shunned him and plotted His death. Amazing how blinded they were. In order to truly see through the darkness, it takes opening up the mind, dismissing any and all historical worldly encounters that have created the belief system one now claims, and allowing the Spirit of God to move inside them. Otherwise, He will not force his way into a hardened heart of stone and that person will continue to live in darkness. And that's sad. That's unbelievably hard for me to understand because I want to justify and rationalize the opposite by claiming Jesus is a merciful God and will not allow that "good" person to go to hell. YES HE DOES. Dying on the cross wasn't patty cake play.

Jesus was a real person. He lived. He died. He rose again. And he did all this without the means of modern technology, so we have to rely upon the written word and testimonials and artifacts. Today, people would say He was AI'd. So, I like the words of Jesus,"...blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."

I have neither read nor been told there's any way to paradise besides acknowledging that The Christ is the son of God and accepting Him as your savior.

I havent heard of any exemption for the Jews either, God's chosen people or nay.

Okay , your last line made me laugh. Thanks for answering my questions. But I'm not religious. I don't claim to be religious. I have divorced myself from any religious institution. I am a Christian. I have Church with three powerfully prayerful men on Sunday mornings at a local coffee shop. We dive into the bible and I gotta say I can't hold a candle to these guys. I'm SICK of America's institutional Christianity and what it stands for these days. Most are NOT preaching the Word of God but a watered down version. They are NOT addressing the hard times of today and I think that's why so many Christians are leaving the modern Christian Churches. My father-in-law is a former Baptist preacher. UGH, he just doesn't get me and my wife, who has done the same thing I did but for different reasons. Christians can be a terrible example of Christianity, IMO. I look at our governmental system and the state of our nation and it dates me back to Nazi Germany and the congregational churches in that time who simply remained quiet while Hitler took over the country and then WWII happened and the Holocaust. According to Bonhoeffer, that all might have never happened had the Christian church of that day stood up as a united front and denounced what was sure to happen. We have that history to look back on, and yet we are doing the same thing. A Christian united force is unstoppable when driven without shame and having complete Trust in God's leadership. Today? Wishful thinking.

I have a question. I am fortunate to know many good Christians. I'm sure you're one.

Why don't Christians spend more time policing their own?

When I was a kid in West Virginia, the Pentecostals didn't bother the Indian community unless someone had lost their job and they needed dishes for potluck or the union was on strike and they wanted to know if we would help out with keeping everyone's bills paid until it was over. They were absolute scarlet letter hell on each other though. Basically they knew we had a religion and had no interest in theirs.

They were also snake handlers so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I'm not sure I'm going to answer your question like you want, but I'll try. I think this has been a problem from the time after Christ's resurrection. My understanding is the Catholic Church was the first institutionalized church that spread globally with their own traditions and ways of worship. It developed a way of income that became the root of its existence. I'm not saying that all Catholics were bad, but it produced a way of worship that caused Martin Luther to test that concept and boom you've now got church denominations on every street corner preaching Christ but with each having their own traditional caveats.

Today, this concept is taught to pastors so they can pastor a church in a way that provides an income stream. Money becomes the driving force. They spew their sermons over congregations without a true meat and taters undertone, but one that unfortunately provides prideful arrogance. So, Christians become "holier-than-thou" without a substance of True Faith! It's a watered down version, and it's a turn-off. Again, not all, but most are pushing things like a prosperity gospel. There is a documentary called Shiny Happy People that exposes the television hit 19 kids and counting:

Sorry, I'm ranting on, but I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I truly believe that God is sick and tired of the same old story being preached from pulpits that will not address our needs of today because of the fear of losing congregants, stepping on toes, losing a tax-exempts status. I'm on board with this. I'm wanting to draw closer to Christ outside of this denominational bondage. It's hurting the cause more than it's helping.

That seems fair, even with no outreach ministry just charity, caring for the old and the sick, and community initiatives cost money.

I was speaking more of the guys I used to party with on Saturday night and be in church on Sunday hungover, every weekend.

I am unable to suggest if they are or are not. I used to be Catholic and I was one of those you speak about. No kidding. I would cuss and party and go to bars and then go to confession on Saturday and go to Mass on Sunday. After sex with (the now wife) I'd go to confession and tell her I was safe now but she was still going to hell. Yes, it was a joke but not really. I honestly thought that. And by Monday, I was at it again. But God pursed me through all of this and now I stand humbled by His presence in my life. I am FAR from where He wants me to be, but I strive everyday now like a child needing His spiritual food to sustain me. The best thing I ever did was divorce myself from organized religion. It has set my feet upon a groundwork that is truly original and not scripted.

I can't be a judge of those you experienced in the past except by seeing fruits of one's labor. God is always at work with people, but there comes a day when some will stand before the just Judge and He'll say, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” We just cannot be Christian by name only. That will not save you. We must had faith and works from that faith. God knows our hearts on this matter. That video suggests what is being preached (by many denominations) is NOT the gospel of Jesus Christ but a version perverted by evil gain.

I do think that we as Christians have to be careful not to water the seeds with a fire hose. Agree, the truth is the truth and nothing else is. But when we're approaching others who might be curious about Christ, kicking them in the azz isn't always the best approach...though I'll grant that it sometimes is.

If I'm Satan, evil incarnate (Satan as defined by Christians), and I want to lead people astray in the most efficient ways possible, I'm attacking the Church and those who lead it.

I've been a member of churches that were amazing and I've briefly been a member of 2 churches that were entirely lost. And given the above, this makes sense.

I approach my faith in a similar way as you do freeze...it's very personal and I don't let many in because it is so personal...outside of my wife, my children and my parents.

I will say that there is value in churches that are healthy but obviously that does come with some risk. So far even my bad experiences have helped me grow in my faith but I believe that is because of the very personal relationship with Christ I mentioned above.

That's gold right there. ;)

I haven't either, I've just pondered to myself.

And obviously reasonable people don't want others to go to hell so you sort of hope against what you know.
One of my friends I meet up with on Sunday mornings was sharing with me about Jewish friend of his who confessed he's never read the new testament and doesn't care to. That attitude is the same that killed Jesus, and it falls right in line with the Woes Jesus preached about.

Well said. When I made my decision not too long ago, God placed two people in my life that have been tremendously uplifting. One is a pastor of a black church Calvary Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. lol. But this old man is a fireball of grace and love and agrees with me by saying he may be a pastor of a church, he is not bound by that church.

Let me share a story he told me. He was a young pup in the early 60's filling up his car at a local gas station. (I live in the panhandle of Texas in Amarillo.) He said a white man pulled up, got out of his car and asked which way to Amarillo. Pastor Herman said, just keep on going the way you were going. It'll take you to Amarillo. Well that man thanked him and proceeded to ask Herman life questions and shared the gospel with him. After a while, he prayed with him and gave him his card. He looked at it and didn't think much about it at the time, didn't get spiritually changed or anything like that, but a couple of years later he saw that white man on TV. It was Billy Graham. He said Billy Graham knew where he was going. He knew where Amarillo was. There's only one road that goes there. He just used that as an opportunity to speak to him. :)

I absolutely do not believe Billy Graham is shy, or would use deception to spread the gospel.

I find tons of inspiration from the Old Testament. The OT and the NT share a common bond: Jesus Christ. All the longing for a Savior from the OT is answered in the NT, yet Jewish folks don't want to hear about it so they can stick to their traditional ways. Like I've said before, what other religion has a God that has risen from the dead? WOW!

I don't read the book of Mormon because it was first published in 1830. It claims that Moroni, a “prophet”, originally wrote the book and that it was translated by Joseph Smith. Now, some critics also claim that Smith gained most of his theories from a manuscript of a novel written by Solomon Spaulding. The Book of Mormon has absolutely no credibility. The people and places are not proven to exist, it was written by a man and not God-breathed. Also, the Book of Mormon contains grave errors and contradictions. Mormons claim that Jesus was a created being and NOT God. They also claim that Lucifer is his brother – and that we too are His brothers and sisters in a very literal way; the offspring of god and his goddess. Mormons claim that Jesus was the first person to receive a spirit body and that He atoned for the sin on the cross AND in the garden of Gethsemane. It teaches that God has flesh and bones and that He has a wife with whom they produce spirit offspring in heaven that will inhabit human bodies on earth. The Book of Mormon claims that Jesus’s atonement provided for the immortality for all people. But to achieve Exaltation – or godhood – it is available only to Mormons who obey the teachings specific to the Book of Mormon. These include endowments, celestial marriage, and specific tithing. Mormons are not Christians. They deny the basic and essential doctrines of the Christian faith. They deny that there is one God, and that God has always existed as He is. They deny the deity of Christ and the everlasting eternity of Christ. They also deny that forgiveness of sins is by grace alone through faith alone. So, why should I read and study their book?

Ok, so this pastor was lying? Maybe Billy Graham really didn't know if he was on the right path? That was what Pastor Herman assumed such after the fact.

I've met Billy Graham and I can tell you with certainty he would walk up to a Boko Haram fighter with the severed head of a priest in one hand and a bloody panga in the other and ask him if he was saved.

I believe you heard a country yarn.

I've read all three and whoever wrote the book of Mormon either never read the Bible or didn't understand it. There's no reason for Jesus to come back other than the endtimes.

Yeah, to me Jesus isn't coming back anytime soon. But that doesn't mean God won't allow for things to happen to get our attention solely upon Him.
