Blacks in Africa kidnapped their own people and sold them to farmers in America. Those farmers were predominantly white democrats in the South. BTW, this isn't because the South was where all the white democrats lived, it's cause the farmers in the North also bought slaves, but they quickly found out that their climate and soil wasn't ideal for agriculture, so they stopped buying them cause they couldn't use them. Another historical fact that gets omitted from the history books.

Yes but Christianity had nothing to do with the slave trade. Slaves were being sold to Europeans and Americans by black Muslims who did have a religious motivation for their actions.

For the Europeans it was a business transaction that made their business ventures or aristocratic lifestyles financially viable.

It was Christianity that eventually led to the abolition of slavery.

Racism is actually born out of Darwinian thinking which as a philosophy predates Darwin.

You are a bigot for promoting the idea via inference that slavery was due to white Christian nationalism.

As the various churches began to challenge slavery on moral and Christian grounds then the various justifications including the Darwinian idea of racial superiority were promoted.

Jefferson and Washington talked about the problem of slavery but did not try to abolish it because the south would have never joined the union under those terms and because they themselves could not do it on a personal level without financial ruin.

Jefferson to his credit educated his slaves so that when the time came for them to be freed they had a skill and could support themselves.

The Framers of the Constitution set us on the path of abolition with the ban on importation of slaves, the 3/5ths compromise, admission of slave vs free states and the amendment process.

Slavery was "dead man" walking.

The plan was to wean ourselves off slavery and to have 3/4 th states be free and to end slavery peacefully via amendment.

The south seeing that they might lose the free vs slave state game and thus slavery took their ball and went home.

It was groups like the Christian Quakers that promoted abolitionism that acted as a catalyst to end slavery.

In summary it was not Christianity that drove the slave trade or even racism but rather financial interest. But it was Christianity that motivated abolition.

Using the terms white Christian or even nationalism in a derogatory manner is either a troll, being ignorant, being bigoted towards whites and/or people of faith or all the above.

This concludes the lesson. You can accept the facts and move on or just move on.
