Little story before I put him on ignore.
In 1994-5 I was discussing geopolitics with my FIL He has a doctorate in engineering and is a retired major, I said China and terrorism would be our main problems in the future. He rightly pointed out that Chinas military was nothing and called me a name over the terrorism claim. He lost his composure.
My wife banned our political discussions from that day forward. Since the mid 90s I have advocated the rebirth of SEATO with India as a member instead of Pakistan. India should have been coaxed from Russias orbit and given MFN status instead of China. Then before China ascended and once we had India as a ground force to be feared we would invite Taiwan to join.
Money talks and such an alliance was doable once India would have been given incentives.
My FIL is a genius level intellect. He was wrong!!!
