#3 UF softball beat South Carolina today 4-2 to improve their record to 35-7, 14-4 in the SEC. Natalie Lugo (13-1) only gave up a solo HR in 5.2 innings. Katie Chronsiter picked up her 5th save, although allowing a run in the 7th and had the tying runs on base with only1 out before ending the game. Florida only had 4 hits for the game, but walked 6 times while the Gamecocks committed 3 errors, allowing 2 unearned runs. The Gators have a midweek game against FMAU before traveling to Missouri, who is currently in 3rd place in the SEC at 11-5, 33-10 overall. The Tigers are playing Arkansas (37-6, 16-3) tonight and tomorrow and the Gators need them to win at least 1 of those games to tighten up the SEC race.
Meanwhile, UF Lacrosse beat Old Dominion today 17-4 in Norfolk, VA to run their record to 13-2, 10-0 in the AAC. The Gators finish their regular season against Liberty 9-7.
Also, at Auburn in the 1st of a doubleheader in which games will only be 7 innings, the Gators have blow a 6-2 lead and now trail 10-6 in the top of the 6th. Tommy Mace started, giving up 5 runs (3 earned) in 4 innings. Jack Leftwich surrendered 5 runs on 6 hits (all earned) in the bottom of the 5th inning. These 2 guys are supposed to be the aces of the staff and they just got blown up today by 16-19, 2-14 in the SEC Auburn. Defense and pitching have been way below Gator standards so far this year.
