Alabama is playing absolutely great of late. Won 13 in a row. Fouts is tremendous. We missed Julia Cottrill, but that disastrous 1st inning on defense did us in. I predict we'll be the #4 national seed and if that's the way it works out, we will host a Super Regional against either Oregon or Louisiana, assuming the seeds win their regionals. Those 2 teams are ranked 13 & 14.

UCLA and Oklahoma look to be the cream of the crop.

Gator baseball beat up on Georgia tonight 9-2. Hunter Barco threw 6.1 innings and picked up the win, Christian Scott went 1.2 and David Leuthje pitched a perfect 9th. Josh Rivera had a 2-out 2 run single and a 2 run HR, Kendrick Calilao went 2-3 with a HR, Jacob Young had 2 RBI and Jud Fabian hit 2 solo HR's, bringing his season total to 20. The only downside is that Nathan Hickey continues to struggle, 0-4 tonight with 2 K's, 2 hits in his last 24 AB's. Florida goes for the sweep tomorrow with Franco Aleman and a fresh bullpen.

dawgs jumped on us early. Down 4-1 in the 4th.
Yep. Another typical Franco Aleman start. Has pitched very well since the 2nd inning, but got blasted early. He's either great or terrible and the one or two bad innings kill him every time. And we've blown several chances to score. No clutch hitting with runners in scoring position today, at least through the first 5 innings. Hoping for a comeback.

#6 Gator lacrosse won their 15th match in a row and improved to 18-2 on the season by avenging an early season loss to Jacksonville and blasting the Dolphins 17-3 in Gainesville. Florida moves into the Elite 8 where they will probably face #3 Syracuse. As well as the Gators have been playing, they have their best chance in years to advance to the Final 4 for the 2nd time in school history. Highly recommend finding when and where their next match will be televised and take the time to watch. Pretty exciting game.

Loved that Sully pitched Barco in game 2 to get the series win vs. UGA. Would have been nice to get the sweep, but think the series win was sufficient to keep the momentum going. Think a series win at Arky will give us a real strong case for a top 8 seed. I don't know how much of an impact the conference tournaments have on seeds, my sense is not much unless we were to win or at least get to the final. The Thursday night game is enormous.

It's crazy now that Fabian and Rivera have heated it up at the plate, but Hickey is in a terrible slump and Armstrong didn't do much this past week. We need to be clicking on all cylinders to take the series at Arkansas.

Florida men's tennis beat Illinois 4-0 to move into the elite 8. The guys have been really good these first 3 matches, but the competition get's much stiffer.

Looks like we play Texas AM in the elite 8. Ocala, how did we do against them during the regular season??

Gator Men's Tennis easily dispatched the Big Champs Illinois 4-0 to move to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament. Coach Bryan Shelton had mixed up his doubles teams a couple of weeks ago after they struggled winning that point the last half of the season and it paid off tonight and the Gators won the doubles point 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. They then won singles matches in straight sets at #3, #4 & #6 to end the match. They had leads in the other 3 games when the match ended. Great start for the #1 team in the nation in their drive for a national title. Tougher matches await.

Would love a shutdown start tonight from Mace. He's pitched pretty well and hung in there and competed, but seems like more often than not when he pitches, we've given up 4-5 runs by the sixth inning. Would love to see him put up some zeroes early. The offense seems to find a way, and I'm really encouraged by the way they grind out abs and put guys on base. Other than that, let's just put up some clean games defensively. We don't have to be spectacular but no extra outs against these guys.

Go gators!

Mace is still projected as a 1st round draft choice by MLB. He's got great stuff, but seems let little thing get in his head (like not getting a called third strike) and it throws off his concentration for a few batters that hurt him. Agree that he needs to be at his best tonight. In fact, the whole team does.

Just too many pitches from Mace and Van Der Weide can't close out the inning without another score. Gotta get the bats going.

Mace got squeezed on a couple pitches. Then Van der weid botches a routine play that should have ended the inning. We’re not a top 8 seed if we can’t handle a squibber back to the pitcher.

I won't blame the ump. Our guys are making their pitcher look like Bob Gibson. Mace had good stuff, too, but their hitters battled, fouled off tons of pitches and worked him until the wore him down. Our guys are just standing there looking at pitches down the middle, waving at bad pitches and taking borderline pitches, then complaining when they don't get the call. That's not how you win on the road in the SEC. You've got to be aggressive and force the action.

In Men's Tennis, #2 Baylor and #3 Tennessee won their matches today and will meet in the national semifinals. #4 Texas just edged out #13 Southern Cal 4-3 and await the winner of the Florida/Texas A&M match. Texas A&M just won the critical doubles point and put the Gators in the position of needing to win 4 of the 6 singles matches. The Gators won at #3 doubles 6-2, lost #2 at 3-6, came from 5-2 down at #1 doubles to tie it 6-6, forcing a tiebreaker. The Gators were up 4-1, but ended up losing the tiebreak and the doubles point. Florida had easily beaten the Aggies early in the year 5-2,, but barely squeaked out a 4-3 win in the SEC tournament. This could be a nailbiter tonight and it's on the Tennis channel right now.

Mace was pretty good tonight. As Ocala mentioned Arky wore him down. We strike out too much. Arky pitcher with a career strikeout night. Need to get at least 1 this weekend.

Men's tennis team in a tough spot right now, hopefully they can turn it around. Team tennis seems to have big mo swings.

All 3 remaining matches in a 3rd set. We are down 1-2, 0-3 and the other 3rd set just getting started. This thing is going to be super close.

Gators get the W 4-1. Closer than the score indicated. Off the the final 4.
Gator tennis team showed a lot of grit tonight. Losing that doubles point put them in a bind, but they battled back and pulled it out. Much tighter match than the 4-1 score indicates. Next up is Texas, who gave us one of our 2 losses on the season. Revenge, baby!

UF softball got a scare in their opening game of the regionals, surviving USF 1-0. Elizabeth Hightower was tremendous in the circle, going 6.1 and allowing no hits. Meanwhile the Gators had runners in scoring position every inning and couldn't get a clutch hit until the bottom of the 7th, stranding a ton of runners. In the top of the 7th, after 1 out, Hightower made a throwing error to 1st, then walked a batter. Coach Walton relieved her with Katie Chronister, who gave up the Bulls' only hit of the game on a chopper up the middle. Cheyenne Lindsay threw out the runner trying to score from 2nd and then Julia Cottrill threw out the trailing runner at 3rd to end the inning. In the bottom of the 7th, Lindsay led off with a single and Hannah Adams followed with a double off the fence, scoring Lindsay from 1st and ending the game. The Gators play the winner of Baylor/South Alabama Saturday at 2 pm.

UF Men's Tennis beat Texas tonight 4-0 to move to the national title match against Baylor. The Gators won the doubles point and then won easily at #5 singles 6-3, 6-0. They then won a closer match at #4 singles 6-1. 7-5, then closed it out with a win at #3 singles, 6-3, 7-5. When the match ended #1 singles was in UF's favor at 6-4, 5-6, we were losing at # 2 singles 6-7, 2-3 and at #6 singles 2-6, 6-4, 3-4. The Gators have 6 national titles in women's tennis, but none in men's tennis.

I followed that on the live ticker. A solid performance. Hope we can finish it off.

The Gator baseball team has 33 strikeouts in 18 innings against the pigs. Goodness this team strikes out a ton. It's almost like a little league team. Now an error by our outfield puts the winning run on 3rd with no outs.

Gators played pretty well, just couldn't put enough balls in play. Our pitching was pretty solid tonight.

Barco did his job, Leftwich didn't. Their pitching staff is way better and deeper than ours. Their hitters are way better than ours.

Baseball team sucks right now and may not even get to host a Regional. #6 Lacrosse lost in the Elite 8 today to #3 Syracuse 16-11. Gator softball moves on to the Regional finals with a 10-0 win over South Alabama. Natalie Lugo threw a 1 hitter, as Gator pitching has allowed 2 hits in 2 games. Somebody will have to beat them wtice Sunday to keep us out of the Super Regionals. Florida Men's Tennis goes for a national title tonight against baylor.

All that good momentum has evaporated this weekend. Maybe they can get it back in the SEC tournament.

Unless they get some miracles from the pitching staff, they won't last long in Hoover. They play Kentucky at 10:30 am Tuesday. Who's gonna pitch? My guess is Brandon Sproat. If they lose, they're done. Win and they play Miss. St. Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Mace then, probably.
