Gymnastics - The Undefeated, #1 ranked, SEC Regular Season Champion Gators compete this Saturday in the SEC Tournament in Huntsville, AL, and then start SEC Regional competition 4/1-4/3. The SEC tournament is on the regular SEC Network starting at 3:30 pm.
Volleyball - The 16-2, #7 ranked Gators have won 11 straight matches going back to November. They face #3, 16-0 Kentucky in 2 matches at home this Friday and Saturday, then conclude SEC play with 2 matches at currently 9-5 Texas A & M. All 4 final regulars season games will be on SEC+.
Lacrosse- Gators lacrosse, perennial conference champions of whatever league they are in, has started the season 3-2, with wins over Louisville, Stetson & Kennesaw State and losses to #1 North Carolina and an upset loss 12-11 to Jacksonville. They are in the American Athletic Conference this year and begin conference play this Friday & Saturday with games at Temple. Those games are on ESPN+. 2 conference games each against Cincinnati, East Carolina & Vanderbilt can all be watched on You Tube.
Softball - The #5 ranked Gator softball team, 17-2, opened their SEC schedule by winning 2 out of 3 against #9 Kentucky. This year's team does not have the dominant pitcher liked we're used to seeing, but will rely on a staff that includes Elizabeth Hightower (who is off to an excellent start), Natalie Lugo, Katie Chronister & Rylee Trlicek. The defense is great as usual, but Coach Walton is still looking for consistent hitting from 5-9 in the batting order. Cheyenne Lindsay, Hannah Adams, Charla Echols and Kendyl Lindaman have been solid 1-4, but the rest of the lineup has been shuffled often as they're trying to find the right combination that can help them compete at the high level we're all used to seeing. The only other loss on UF's record so far was when they split home & home games with FSU. Florida was picked pre-season as 3rd in the SEC, behind Alabama & LSU.
Baseball - The Consensus #1 team in the country starting the season, the Gators have gotten off to a somewhat shaky start, especially on defense and out of the bullpen. They are currently 13-4, losing 2 out of 3 at home against Miami to start the season. They then won 2 midweek games vs. North Florida, swept a 3-game weekend series against Samford, lost a midweek game 3-2 against ranked Florida Atlantic, then swept Florida A & M 3 games. This past week they beat Georgia State & Stetson mid-week, then won 2 out of 3 against Jacksonville. They play FSU in Tallahassee Tuesday night on ACC+, then begin SEC play Friday, Saturday & Sunday by hosting 14-4 Texas A&M. The Friday night game is on the regular SEC Network, Saturday & Sunday on SEC+. The team batting average is .303, led by Jacob Young at .359, Kirby McMullen at .349, freshman Colby Halter at .345, Nathan Hickey at .339 and Jordan Butler at .313. We have 23 home runs, led by Jud Fabian's 6 and 4 each from Kirby McMullen and Hickey. Hickey leads the Team in RBI's with 21, Fabian has 17 and Halter 17. One concern on offense is strikeouts, as we have 125 already in 17 games against pitching that has been nothing like we'll face in the SEC. Fabian has 24 K's, SS Josh Rivera 18, Hickey 16 and Kris Armstrong 14. Great defense has been a constant under Kevin O'Sullivan, but this year's team has not been good, with a current fielding percentage of .965. Before last weekend's games we were at .969, which was #127 in D1. As far as pitching, the starting pitching has been pretty good, even during the midweek games. But the bullpen has given up a lot of runs and blown several leads. The team ERA is 3.36, and was 3.50 before the weekend series vs. Jacksonville, which was #60 in D1, 12th in the SEC. Our Friday & Saturday starters, Tommy Mace & Jack Leftwich, both have ERA's under 2.00, with our Sunday starter, Hunter Barco, at 5.95, mainly due to getting blown up by Miami in his first start. Of the 73 runs allowed through 17 games, 14 have been unearned. The bullpen only has 3 saves. There is a lot of depth in the pitching staff, but 2 of our bullpen guys that would have contributed, Nick Pogue & Tyler Nesbitt, have been shelved for the year due to injuries. Two highly touted transfers, Trey Van Der Weide and Franco Aleman, have both gotten off to rough starts, although their last outings were good. Last week, one poll had 5 SEC teams in the Top 5 slots - Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Miss. St., Ole Miss & Florida. The talent is there for the Gators to do great things this year, but the SEC is excellent and deep as usual. Should be an interesting season to watch unfold.

Thanks for the thread Ocala. All our spring teams should be in the national conversation.

You should also include tennis. I know the women are struggling a bit, but the men are doing really well.

The UF Men's Track & Field team just finished 4th in the NCAA Indoor Championships, while the UF Women finished 6th. And yes, the UF Men's tennis team is doing very well, currently with a 12-1 record and ranked #7 in the nation. The Women's tennis team, which has won numerous national titles and was a perennial powerhouse, has slipped in recent years. They are currently just 7-6.

What the heck happened to our women's tennis team? We were top 4 several years in a row...

Noles pounding us in baseball tonight. Will be 2nd win in a row for the noles. We have owned them over the last decade.

FSU is the only team to beat us in the shortened season last year and they destroyed our pitching tonight 10-2. Our guys only got 4 hits, but stranded 10 baserunners. Need to regroup to start SEC play this weekend.

If we stop hitting the ball, we will be in big trouble. Our pitching just not that good. Nole pitcher was hot tonight. Happens in baseball sometimes.

The Texas A&M series starts Thursday night at 7 pm on the SEC Network. Friday at 6:30, Saturday at 1 pm, both on SEC+.

Can't get too alarmed over just 1 game, but we've lost to an average fsu team and a below average JU team. Hell, even UNF beat the noles.

Texas A & M has a really good pitching staff and their Friday & Saturday night starters have been great so far. Their team ERA is 2.44, 5th in the SEC ours is 3.74 11th in the SEC. They have 243 K's, we have 174. The Gators' team batting average is .294, 5th in the SEC, theirs is .286, 8th in the SEC. We have 23 HR and 128 RBI's, they have 27 HR's and 136 RBI's. Our hitters have 141 K's and 85 walks, they have 123 K's and 88 walks. Defensively, we're last in the SEC with a .965 fielding percentage with 24 errors. They are 10th in the SEC with a .972 fielding percentage and 20 errors. On paper this is a pretty even match-up, but looking at the rest of the schedule, the good guys need to keep hitting, cut down on the strikeouts, and improve significantly in the field and on the mound if we're going to live up to the pre-season hype.

I was gonna ask if it was the right time to call the Gator baseball team overrated. Although they're ranked, UF still had no business losing to FAU.

Nah. The gators will be there at the end. All kinds of talent on this team. Sully will bring it together. I was able to get to the ballpark for the FAMU Sunday game. It is a top notch facility.

Good point. This is going to be a wild baseball year as so many kids came back to their teams.

And kids that should have been drafted in a normal year that have no business really playing in college.

for the life of me, I can't think of his name, but LSU has a guy that is just painfully supposed to be in the league and isn't because of the shortened draft.

Excellent way to start the SEC schedule. Dominated Texas A&M 13-4. One bad innings, but otherwise a dominant performance. Just need to be consistent tomorrow and Saturday.

#7 Gator volleyball just won a nailbiter vs. #3 Kentucky 18-25, 27-25, 17-25, 25-16, 17-15. With the win UG goes to 17-2 on the year and drops Kentucky to 16-1. They play again Saturday at 4 pm on SEC+ and with another win would tie Kentucky for the SEC lead.

Gator baseball team wins 2nd game 3-1. Now lets get the sweep. Conference wins are going to be tough to come by this season, need everyone we can get.
Jack Leftwich pitched 8 strong innings, Christian Scott got a 2 inning save and the Gators got RBI's from freshmen Sterlin Thompson and Mac Gussette. Final game is at 1 pm Sat. on SEC+.
Also, the softball team beat Miss St. in Starkeville 1-0 behind an Elizabeth Hightower shutout and a HR from Miss St. transfer, shortstop Kinsey Goelz. Game 2 is at 3 PM Sat. on SEC+.

Gator volleyball got blitzed by Kentucky today, 3-0, virtually assuring the Wildcats of the SEC title. UF falls to 17-3 with 2 matches left at Texas A&M, while Kentucky is 17-1 with 2 matches left vs. Alabama.

UF baseball 16-5, 3-0, completed a 3-game sweep of Texas A&M today, winning 8-4. Hunter Barco threw 6 solid innings before giving up 4 straight hits to open the 7th and being replaced by Franco Aleman, who struck out the side and finished the game. The Gators pounded out 13 hits, including home runs from Fabian & McMullen.

UF softball improved to 20-2, 4-1 in the SEC by beating Miss. State 10-0, behind shutout pitching from Natalie Lugo (5) and Elizabeth Hightower (2). The game was 1-0 until the top of the 7th when the Gators scored 9 runs and blew it open. The series finished Sunday at noon on SEC+.

The #11 UF Lacrosse team opened conference play with a 15-9 win at #20 Temple. They play again Sunday at Noon.

UF Gymnastics posted their lowest score of the year and finished 3rd in the SEC Gymnastics Tournament tonight behind Alabama and LSU. Trinity Thomas, still recovering from a sprained ankle, only competed in the uneven bars. Hopefully she'll be at full strength for the NCAA Regionals in 2 weeks.

#5 Gator softball improved to 21-2, 5-1 in the SEC by completing a sweep of Miss. St. in StarkeVegas 8-0 in 5 innings. Gator pitching, mainly 10-0 Elizabeth Hightower, tossed 3 straight shutouts over the weekend and Florida's pitching staff has only allowed more that 4 hits in a game 3 times so far this year. Kinsey Goelz hit her 2nd HR of the weekend to give the Gators a 2-0 lead in the 2nd innings and then UF scored 6 more in the 4th to put the game away. Hannah Adams, Jordan Matthews and Julia Cottrill has 2 hits each. This week, UF travels to ranked UCF Wednesday at 6 pm and then hosts ranked LSU for the weekend. Friday's game is at 5 pm on SEC+, Saturday's game is at 5 pm on ESPN and then Sunday's game is at 11 am on SEC+.

UF Lacrosse beat Temple in Philadelphia Sunday 14-7 to improve their record to 5-2, 2-0 in the AAC. The Gators next host Cincinnati in another AAC series Friday at 4pm and Sunday at Noon. Amanda O'Leary started the program in 2010 and in their 1st season in 2011 went 10-8, 18th in the nation, primarily with a freshman lineup. From 2012-2019, the Gators have won their conference championship every year, as well as winning 7 conference tournament titles. They've been to the NCAA tournament every year from 2-12-2019, advancing to the quarterfinals 5 times and a Final 4 appearance in 2012. What a tremendous accomplishment to build a program from scratch and have consistent success like Gator Lacrosse.

Agreed.

UF's #2 Men's Tennis team is blitzing FSU this afternoon, up 6-0 and ahead in the 7th match. The Gators will be 14-1, 8-0 in the SEC and all but 3 of their wins have come against ranked teams, the biggest a 5-2 whipping of then #3 Tennessee. Their lone loss was 3-4 on January 23 to Texas in Austin. The Gators have 4 more SEC matches before heading to Fayetteville for the SEC tournament 4/19-4/23. This is a powerhouse Gator team.

Didn't we make the men's final four last year?

UF Men's Swimming Team is competing this week in the NCAA Championships after winning the SEC title the end of February. The Women's Swimming Team recently finished a disappointing 17th in the NCAA's after a 2nd place finish in the SEC.

#5UF softball lost a Wednesday game in Orlando to #22 UCF 8-6, as UCF scored more runs and got more hits off Gator pitching than any team they've faced so far this year. Florida had a 5-1 lead going to the bottom of the 3rd, but gave up back to back home runs and ended the inning tied 5-5. Florida had bases loaded and nobody out in the top of the 6th, but only scored 1 run on a sacrifice fly. Natalie Lugo pitched the first 2 innings and was charged with 4 runs. Katie Chronister threw the middle 3 innings and was charged with 1 run. Coach Walton brought in Elizabeth Hightower to finish the game with a 6-5 lead. She had been virtually untouchable this year with a 0.79 ERA. She threw a clean 6th inning, but in the bottom of the 7th she hit the leadoff batter then gave up a game-tying double. After getting a pop out, UCF got a 2-run walk-off HR to end the gave. Gators host a 3-game series against always tough LSU this weekend.

Gator Volleyball finished the regular season 19-3, 2nd in the SEC, with a 2 match sweep over Texas A&M in College Station Wednesday & Thursday, winning the first match 3-0, the 2nd 3-1. UF awaits their seeding in the NCAA tournament, with the selection show April 4.

With 2 days of competition left, the UF Men's Swimming & Diving team is in 3rd place at the NCAA's, behind Cal-Berkley & Texas.

#11 UF Lacrosse blasted Cincinnati 20-3 in their first of 2 AAC matches in Gainesville on Friday. They play again Sunday at Noon.
#2 UF Men's Tennis blanked Arkansas 7-0 to run their record to 15-1
#5 UF Softball, 22-3, 6-1 in the SEC now, opened a 3-game series at home blanking #11 LSU 5-0 behind 11-1 Elizabeth Hightower's 3-hitter. Hannah Adams hit a 2-run single in the 3rd and Julia Cottrill hit a 3-rn HR in the 6th, while Jamie Hoover had a double and made 2 great defensive plays from left field.

UF Men's Swimming & Diving finished Friday competition still in 3rd place at the NCAA Championships behind Texas and Cal-Berkley, heading into Saturday final day of competition.

#5 Gator baseball saw their pitching fail them once again as they lost the opener of a 3 game series at South Carolina 9-8 in 14 innings. Starter Tommy Mace only went 4 innings, giving up 10 hits and 4 runs, But the Gators came from behind to grab a 7-4 lead going to the bottom of the 7th. Reliever Tyler Van Der Weide gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th and supposed closer Franco Aleman gave up a run in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game. Christian Scott threw 4 strong innings in relief, but the Gamecocks bullpen was equally good. Ben Specht was great in relief in the 12th & 13th innings and in the top of the 14th, Nathan Hickey hit a 2 out solo HR to give Florida an 8-7 lead. In the bottom of the inning Specht got 2 quick outs and had 2 strikes on the next batter, but hung a curve that he hit over the fence to tie the game. Specht then gave up a single and a walk off double to end the game. South Carolina outhit Florida 20-9, but we stranded 17 baserunners, South Carolina 11. Gamecock pitchers walk 13 Gator batters and hit 2 more, but had 19 strikeouts, including 5 by Jud Fabian and 4 from Colby Halter. Gator pitchers only walk 2 batters and had 13 K's, but couldn't get the big outs when they needed them. Great game, but South Carolina isn't a top echelon SEC team this year, although still ranked #25 in the nation.

Baseball could be in for a long weekend. Hopefully we can pick off at least 1 and not get swept. Vandy looks to be headed for another natty if those two pitchers stay healthy.

Whose Vandy’s baseball coach? Vandy is literally not good at any other sport that I can recall except for baseball. I’m surprised a bigger named type program hasn’t gone after him. Vandy doesn’t have deep pockets for athletics so I can’t imagine they can really keep him.
