Sounds like Billy is Out

Haha, this ain't identity politics. Perhaps he doesn't have enough seasons and success under his belt yet. Arizona just beat Utah without him and Washington just lost to Rutgers with him. Spurrier won the ACC with Duke before being Gators coach and Meyer won the conference at Utah before being Gators coach. I like Fisch's UF pedigree and offensive focus but maybe he needs a bit more seasoning. Regardless, I'd be ok if we hired him for next season. Muschamp was a hothead, McElwain and Mullen were weirdos, and Napier is mopey dopey. Need a more even keeled offensive smart guy like Lane or Jedd or whoever.
By far the best post on this thread.

"Billy is a man of substance. He's a leader of substance. He is very methodical, which probably, long term, is going to be really good for Florida and for our football program because he's not gonna cut a corner, he's not gonna take a shortcut. He's gonna build a really, really solid foundation. And he's gonna get this thing going to be at the level that all Gators want it to be at, which is competing for championships, playing in meaningful postseason games. Once he gets it to that point, it's gonna stay at that point.
I see the steps he's taken, the caliber of young people he's brought in. He's improved the roster, he's improved the overall structure of the team. I think we have been patient as a university. That patience is gonna be rewarded. I really believe Billy Napier's gonna be the head coach at Florida for a long, long time."

And fever, I'd be good with that,,, IF it looked like it was going forward in a positive way on the field.

247Sports says that his combined recruits in his 3rd season Rank #14 in the nation.

He has dumped those already on the roster that he didn't want and brought in those to replace them from the portal.
He has built his own coaching staff and he's been given a 50+ auxiliary staff to cover every part of his program.
(things that the previous 3 fired 'winning records' HC's weren't given)

Given all of that, where is his 3rd season standing at now?
2022 - 6-7
2023 - 5-7
2024 - 3-3, 1-2 SEC
Where does the W/L need to be by the end of 2024, now that he has the 'High Quality Team of His Own Choosing?'

Note: I don't want to see him fired today or tomorrow mid-season.
I would maybe even be willing to give him a 4th year to make the Big Turnaround that some claim is coming.
But at some point.......................

The only way Sling Blade gets another season is to go 9-3. Norvell pulled it off in his 3rd season. No excuse for losing to a garbage Texas A&M team beating us with their POS backup who lit up our defense. The Miami game should have been far more competitive, perhaps won by UF as their semi garbage with an easier schedule than FSU had in decades.

I think they would retain him after what our biggest booster had to say but the chance of him pulling it off is extremely low. A UCF or KY loss instantly seals his fate even if they wait a while to officially fire him.

Not sure but the UF admin and the big boosters don't even consider him a possibility.
Are you talking about Jed Fisch? That ship sailed even before he lost to Iowa. He's already lost to Wasu and Rutgers. Kenny Dillingham is someone to take s close look at, despite his age at 34. He even sent Jaden Rashada packing towards the portal.

As for Napier, whether or not he beat Tennessee, nothing would have changed. His only hope is for DJ Lagway to carry this team to a 5-1 record going forward but no way we beat either Georgia, Texas, then beat Ole Miss.

That comment alone should get Stricklin fired before Sling Blade.

Bell is 100% not getting hired as the next Gators coach.
I said that I'd take him over any of the others mentioned so far, not that I thought or knew that he'd be hired.
At this point, I expect their collective Socialist-U stupidity to continue unabated....

And who told you that he was 100% NOT going to be hired? Source???

I gotta tell ya I’m not knocked out by any of the candidates. If we had Ole Miss’ schedule, or Tennessee’s we’d probably have the same record.

I don't understand how Spurrier isn't more appalled by what's been happening at his University for far too long..
He’s pissed. But if you have listened to Another Dooley Noted Podcast (which sadgator highly recommends), Steve has said many times that he can only be so critical because he is the Florida Football Ambassador…he doesn’t appear pleased, but like us, he just wants to see the team succeed.

I'm with Insta on this one, let's get Kerwin Bell in here! Guy has won everywhere he's been. His son is doing a great job as OC for Pitt. I think they are unbeaten. Father son coaching tandem
I was pissed when Muschamp had a chance to hire Kerwin on as OC. But Chump was stubborn AF. Chump was a control freak, and that's why he's gone. Mullin was a control freak, insisted on keeping on 3rd and Grantham, and he gone too. If Billy hired an OC and a game day situational corch to go with the other 100 coaches he's got, I might think about keeping him on too.😂

Muschamp was also stupid enough to let Derrick Henry slip thru his hands. It almost seemed like Henry didn't GAS whether we sucked on offense, he was a Gator thru and thru. To this day his entire family are loyal Gators.

Hammer Time (long post),,, Cain't Touch This.....

Kerwin Bell's Offensive Philosophy adjusts to the available personal.
(taken from a 2019 Article)

When Bell was hired at Valdosta State from Jacksonville University (where he spent 2 years setting up their brand new football program), his offense was described as a professional passing game he learned from Lindy Infante with the Colts, combined with the spread offense that Steve Spurrier ran at the University of Florida.
“I believe in scoring and if we get ahead by 21, we’re trying to get 28. We’re not settling on 21. It’s going to be fun”. K.Bell

Kerwin Bell offense that produced one of the most electric teams in Division II football at Valdosta State. In case you have been living under a rock, the Valdosta State Blazers completed a perfect season at 14-0, and scored 52.0 points per game. To put that into perspective, Clemson just capped off a 15-0 season at Division I and averaged 44.0 points per game. Oklahoma had the nations top scoring offense with 48.4.

The offense was a nearly perfectly balanced attack, with the team rushing for 3,676 yards and passing for 3,658. This resulted with 7.2 yards per rush and 8.73 yards per pass, or 15.18 yards per catch. With 50 passing touchdowns and 40 rushing touchdowns, almost every player on Valdosta State’s roster who contributed found the end zone at some point during the season.

The 52.0 points per game was hardly needed, as Valdosta’s defense kept teams at bay until the fourth quarter when backups were playing.

For anyone interested, here's the 2018 D-2 Championship Game:
Watching his QB play, it seems to me that DJ would flourish in Bell's offense.

==========

Here's an article from Oct. 2023:

Bell, who had been drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1988 after throwing for nearly 8,000 career yards at Florida, injured himself off the field prior to the 1990 season and decided to try coaching while he healed. He did go back to pro football after 1990, but mostly in the Canadian Football League, where he threw for nearly 20,000 yards and 101 touchdowns. Bell credited being on Spurrier's staff at Florida for fueling his interest in coaching and for a high-octane offense, which he and his staff employ in their pro spread attack.

"KB (Kerwin) is a player's coach," his son Kade Bell told FanBuzz. "He almost treats his team like an NFL team. If we win, we're off on Sundays. He has that Spurrier mentality, that we're going to work hard and put our time in, but when we're done, we're going to go home to our families. And it makes everyone come to work ready to work. All of that stuff matters, and that culture isn't just with the coaches. "We're going to compete and try to dominate people ... but we want these kids to have fun playing football, too."

Gator's WR Coach Billy Gonzales' son is Bell's QB at WCa.
The younger Gonzales has thrown for 1,532 yards and 14 TD's, 2 Ints in 6 games. Bell's son Kade is his OC.

Here's more depth on Kerwin for anyone that wants to understand why the iG ain't just whistling Dixie and wants Kerwin Bell as the next Gator's HC....
