No HC from FCS could ever be the HC at UF, says the feveredbrain, among a few others that seem to agree....
Just like no 5th string 3-star QB from a Miss. HS could ever succeed as UF's QB...
(Shane Matthews says hold my beer)
And no 2-star QB that never even started for his own TX HS could ever succeed as UF's QB...
(Kyle Trask says hold my beer)
For absolute sure, no WALK-ON QB, with no major ship offers could ever earn the starting QB job at UF....
(Walk-On QB Kerwin Bell: says hello)
SEC Player of the Year (1984) (UF's 1st SEC-C)
First-team All-SEC (1985)
Honorable mention All-American (1985, 1986)
University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame
Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame
Graduated UF with a degree in Psychology in 1987 (A SOS/Meyer Combo)
Drafted by the Miami Dolphins, he had an 11 year Pro career with various teams before retiring in 2001.
His full history can be found here:

Founding HS HC for Trinity Catholic in Ocala - 14-0 State Champs
He did so well after founding their new program that JU hired him away to establish their new football program. In Bell's second season, the JU Dolphins went 9–4 and won the Pioneer Football League (PFL) championship, and Bell was recognized as the PFL Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award. The Dolphins won another PFL championship in 2010 with a 10–1 record.
In January 2016, Bell was named the new head coach at Valdosta State. In 2018, Bell led the Blazers to the program's first undefeated season (14–0) and the Division II National Championship.
He spent one season at USF as the OC, but was not retained the following year when the HC was fired.
Bell was hired as the 14th head coach at Western Carolina on April 27, 2021.[40] In Bell's first season, the Catamounts lost their first six games but won four out of the remaining five to finish the season at 4-7 with the program's best win total in five years.
In 2022, the Catamounts enjoyed their first winning season since 2017 with a 6-5 campaign.
In 2023, they finished 7-4 and were ranked No. 23 in the final STATS poll for third time in program history and the first since 1983.
For 2024, they are currently 4-3 coming off a 52-20 win over Furman.
Bell's current 'college' all time HC'ing W/L record is 114-61.
I would love for Kerwin to finish out his coaching career as the Gator's HC.
Because you see, it's what you can do, not what someone else claims you can't do that matters....
Is there an example of a coach in modern times becoming a top power 5/4 coach that just had one year as group of 5 coordinator or something similar and the rest division 2 and FCS.
