In before the gun confiscation NUTS.....

Whether or not one chooses to kill animals has zero affect on how we raise our food.

You're not killing a stockyard animal humanely....you're killing an additional animal.

You choose to kill an animal because you want to do it. You don't need to do it for meat (at least if you live around civilization).
I'm killing an overpopulated native animal that doesn't waste water, arable pasture, or add methane to the atmosphere.

Would you prefer I take my bloodthirsty tendencies out on people? Cuz the government taught me to shoot strangers in foreign countries while dressed up like a tree when I was eighteen and I'm good at that too. And people taste like pork.

The problem is deforestation and lack of predators have exploded the deer population 1000X since 1930.

If hunters didn't curb the population it would increase bad outcomes for both deer and people.

I know it's counter-intuitive but hunters serve a purpose here.

And stockyard animals are often killed inhumanely. Plus they never live a free life.

Meat is murder no matter how you slice it.

If killing animals satisfies your bloodthirst, it's certainly better than killing people.....at least in most instances.

So it's a win-win....the deer population is controlled and hunters get to kill things.

You have a better idea?

And it's disingenuous to act like hunters only want to kill something to kill it. While some may enjoy that aspect, I've never met one who left the deer. And even if they did something is eating that deer.

You have some serious hangups about anything even remotely violent. I couldn't kill a deer but I understand why it's important that hunters do.

It's not actually counter intuitive, culling is a longstanding tool of herd management strategy.

Now if we could only get hunters to stop killing the deer with the Boone and Crockett racks maybe we'd have deer that are larger than German Shepherds. Killing the largest stags means they're out of the gene pool.

You have made a bunch of really stupid statements. But this one takes the cake. I have many friends and family members that hunt deer and boar (I hunt boar) specifically for meat and to use in their diet instead of pasture raised animals. My family loves venison and wild boar. We also eat Elk, Bison and Moose. I and all of my friends and family members that hunt "live around civilization" as you put it (actually smack dab in the middle of it).

There are over 6 million wild hogs and over 30 million deer currently in America and both populations are growing rapidly. Sheesh, get your head out of your arse.

Theo the university of Florida Dairy Research and Beef units hire hunters to cull deer and hogs to keep them out of the corn they grow onsite to feed the herds.

Guess you better get right with that or find a new squad.

If we had an epidemic of trucks being used as weapons, we'd have to review our options.
Semi's killed 6k people last year and occupants are 45% more likely to die in an accident in a pickup truck than a car.

SOMETHING MUST BE DONE.

While semis can certainly be deadly, they were not designed specifically to kill.

That's probably why we don't see a ton of semi crime.
