Umm. You clearly did not read the article. Here is the most important and meaningful part of the legislation:
"By prohibiting VA from sending information to the FBI about veterans or their family members without a judicial ruling stating that they are a danger to themselves or others,"
I understand. You want people who have been diagnosed with mental illness to have access to guns unless there is a judicial ruling.
How many mentally ill people have no judicial ruling? You want them to have access to guns.
There are laws already on the books that address this...however too many times they are not followed.
It also includes veterans with people who handle their finances. Previous language made sure the bean counters can't report gun purchases.
Not all people with mental illness are dangerous you spineless little weasel.
