Gators to Hire Ron Roberts as LB Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator ?

I may have to start giving our money guys more credit. FSU fans are crying that we have upped our NIL game this class and it isnt fair. If that is true we can recruit with anyone being here in FL.
Keep in our "money guys" are new and I think that's the difference. The last guy heading up our NIL had some major personal issues (drinking) and it spilled over.

The new regime seems to know wtf to do.

Another good sign if true.

Fever,

Doubt that the money John Ruiz gave out for NIL is the whole or even the major reason behind his financial problems.

You don't give out the entire NIL amount at one time.

Wonder if he will continue to pay out NIL$$$ to players currently at Da U ?

If he defaults, will they transfer ?

I'm sure Ruiz has fraudulently tucked away a whole bunch of money in his other, hidden, pockets & will not starve or go homeless.

Best part of this -
Ruiz was an As* ho*le & deserved it
Although
he did us a huge favor & got rid of Rashada

Without him to stir things up, I'm hoping the stupid NIL$$$ thrown about in State of Florida will decline.

They are both a bit short -
BUT
We could probably use either or both of these -I prefer Mauigoa - the Florida/IMG guy.

2023 Fall Training Camp Report Date, Scrimmages

Players will report to the James W. “Bill” Heavener Football Training Center at UF on July 30 and begin fall training camp the next day, July 31, All Gators has learned. Florida will hold its intrasquad scrimmages on Aug. 10 and Aug. 18, and the final day of camp will be Aug. 22 before fall semester classes commence on Aug. 23.

Practices will be closed to the public. Media will be permitted entry for limited practice viewing windows.

I think this year, we're going to change up practice times a little bit, a little bit more variety. So you know, I think we'll have some A.M. practices, some mid-afternoon practices, and then P.M. practices to kind of replicate game times.

As a nearly complete team, Florida began its "Regimen" offseason workout program on May 30 with its entire 2023 class in tow sans junior college transfer edge rusher Quincy Ivory, who committed to the team in June.

Only one scholarship roster spot is vacant at this time.

Quarterback Graham Mertz (formerly of Wisconsin) and defensive tackle Cam Jackson (from Memphis) figure to take on prominent roles as veteran transfers. Returning players in running backs Montrell Johnson Jr. and Trevor Etienne, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, left tackle Austin Barber, edge rusher Princely Umanmielen and cornerback Jason Marshall Jr., meanwhile, are among those who are likely to assume leadership positions if they haven't already.

Most other positions don't feature clear-cut favorites to start, and the current and upcoming training phases will offer players the opportunity to secure first-team jobs or meaningful rotational duties.

Training camp is always important. But I think this team, certain position groups (QBs & WRs/TEs) the summer training camp is going to be more important.”

Gators make top 5 for top-100 prospect LJ McCray

Top-100 prospect LJ McCray, a 4-star defensive lineman from Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland, released his top five Friday and not surprisingly the Florida Gators made the cut.

Also on his list: Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Miami.

McCray, listed at 6-foot-6.5, 260 pounds, is the No. 13 defensive lineman and No. 89 overall recruit nationally according to On3.

Has solid length with a wing-span over 6-foot-9 along with a 10.5-inch hand. Showed his top end speed in the combine setting, running an electronically-timed 4.98 second 40-yard dash at Under Armour’s Orlando camp.

An offer from CBN & the Gators doesn't have the Punch that one from Saban/Bama or Smart/UGA does - Yet !
BUT
That day is coming back.

Not every recruit is picking their school “Over the Gators”

There seems to be this trend, however,
that players who Florida weren’t really pushing for that wind up elsewhere need to include they picked their new school “Over Florida.”

If you follow recruiting closely enough, you know a number of these “Over Florida” commits either
never took an official visit to Gainesville
or
took a visit but Napier had already earned the commitment of a player in the position group they liked better.

Just keep that in mind the next time someone on Twitter goes, “We stuffed Billy Napier into a locker.”

No, no you didn’t.

Because it’s not so much a case of players choosing their school “Over Florida,” it’s a case of Florida football choosing players over them.

Bri Wade promoted to Florida Gators director of football recruiting & external engagement

Bri Wade, a key member of the Florida staff, has received a promotion and raise from UF coach Billy Napier, Gators Online has learned. Wade’s new job title is Director of Football Recruiting & External Engagement.

Gators got something in return -
No need to rehash all the details - Florida hauled in seven commitments over the last three days and nine over the last eight.

Former Georgia RB Sony Michel Signs with UGA west -the Los Angeles Rams

Sony Michel joins a Rams roster that continues to stockpile former Georgia players. With the addition of Michel, Los Angeles now features six former Bulldogs on its roster including quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett, corner Derion Kendrick, safety Richard LeCounte, and offensive lineman Warren McClendon.

Former Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett and offensive tackle Warren McClendon get to continue being teammates in the pros. Both taken by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft this spring, the pair of Bulldog rookies signed their contracts to make it official Thursday afternoon.

Bennett’s contract is projected to be worth $4,539,140 with a $699,140 signing bonus.
McClendon’s comes in at $4,084,980 with a projected bonus of $244,980.
Both players were taken during the third day of the draft with Bennett off the board in the fourth round followed by McClendon not too long after in the fifth.

That whole Ruiz-UF thing, this time last year was really just bad timing. They were killing it and super aggressive while we had an alcoholic, who was currently using running NIL lol. Looks like we've righted the ship though.

Heitner was feeding stuff to Ruiz from our coaches and staff. We’ve since cut off Heitner so now Miami and Ruiz don.t know the UF recruiting board and have no inside knowledge of what we are doing, etc. when it comes to recruiting and our NIL packages etc.

If Ruiz is not shelling out the cash he was last class they are screwed as Miami doesnt have much pull with these kids anymore like years ago.

I hope the rumors our people have got a little more motivated with NIL are true as there is no reason we cant recruit real close to GA and Bama if that is true.

A few Canes fans are making it known to their fellow fans Mario is an idiot for leaving Oregon to come back to rented stadium, garbage facilities as well as their biggest supporter who is on the verge of bankruptcy. Mario left Phil Knight for Ruiz? Not sure if Miami even got another big donation from their most famous alumnus, Dwayne Johnson(The Rock).

Fever,

If he doesn't follow through on the NIL$$$ (Contracts ?) he committed to for this year's Canes class what do you think will happen ?
If Ruiz goes under (only on paper as he will have tucked away a bundle in his offshore accounts) & the recruiting class he bought the Canes falls apart -

He is a bit shorter than CBN prefers,
BUT
I, being a Great Gator have $2 maybe $3 bucks that I could contribute if Mauigoa - the Florida/IMG guy gets Happy Feet & wants to come to Gainesville.

He claims he lives up to whatever NIL deals he has but we will see I guess. It would be nice if there are way less future NIL deals from him though.

New Florida DL Commit Michai Boireau Works Out at Friday Night Lights Camp

He notably showcased impressive movement skills and fluidity for a defensive lineman of his stature — 6-foot-5, 360 pounds — during bag drills in which his footwork and ability to bend were tested.

Over 100 prospects were in attendance, mostly from future recruiting classes, aiming to prove themselves athletically and football-technically in front of the Gators' coaching staff.

Guessing Bri Wade was busy yesterday !

Numbers,

Maybe they will all learns from Ruiz's financial problems (NASDAQ about to delist him) & slow things down - stop using NIL$$$ as a recruiting tool & save it for players already on the team.

In My Dreams - Right ? That ship has already sailed !

If Ruiz unable to pay NASDAQ Bills & unable to pay contracts with Canes' Recruits, Wonder if Mas brothers will step us & clean things up ?
OR
Are they all pooling money into some sort of collective & if one Booster drops out it will simply be the "Next Man Up" type of thing ?

I believe it's a "pool" of money that pays the recruits, from what I understand, Ruiz is about 20% to 25% of the pool. It's good that all 3 Florida schools have good collectives now that can communicate with the schools (new Florida law). I think that has helped UF and UM. Our coaches are too dumb to take advantage.

I know one of the guys who helps with "the battles end" which is our football collective. He basically told me there is a "market value" for each position. You want a top WR, that's 125k. Top QB, close to 750k. Most schools offer roughly the same amount but as he said, if a school gets "desperate" enough like UM and Texas did last cycle, they will over pay for kids. He said it doesn't happen as frequently as you think but noted those 2 schools as 2 that he dealt with recruits and saw the "price point" of each school as being double what market value is. He knows the guy who runs it for UF as well and said he's good and understands the game unlike the last idiot you guys had.

I straight up asked him about Nasir and a few others who he had offered and UF offered, he said it was roughly the same offer (which is common among the top schools) but the kids just liked UFs staff better.

Likely last years' recruits are taken care of then

Rather than having the collective shoot in the dark, Makes sense for the School/HC, to tell the collective who they really need

Jeremiah Smith After OV to Canes

Miami Commit Robinson and tOSU Commit Smith are the only WRs taking their official visits with Miami this weekend. This is the final weekend of official visits in June. A dead period for official visits commences after this weekend.

Rivals ranks the 2024 Miami class 27th nationally.

Without Ruiz, Mario Cristobal & Canes underwhelming in this year's recruiting.

Smith had eight unofficial visits to Miami before this weekend. The nine visits in total to Miami are the most Smith has taken.
Ohio State with six total visits is second. Smith took his official visit to Ohio State the weekend of June 2.
Florida and Georgia have also hosted Smith on official visits.

Miami has been searching for an elite skill position player since Mario Cristobal was hired in December 2021.
Offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola (thanks to Ruiz) are the only five-star signees with Miami in the two signing classes under Cristobal. Miami does not have a five-star commitment in the 2024 class.

FWIW, unless he commits to Miami this weekend (unlikely as Smith is an experienced recruit & knows how to gracefully evade the hard sell) I think he sticks with tOSU.

IMO, CBN knows this, which is why he is heavily pursuing other WRs.

3* OT Mike Williams, a UF commit, also took an OV to the Cane.

I think Miami is 5th in his recruitment. He doesn't seem to like them very much but they are the home team so he's giving them a shot.

I think Ohio state is first and I think k he sticks there as long as Hartline is there.

2nd is probably UGA or UF. I think he likes both of them.

Then probably fsu then Miami

Numbers,

Didn't have the exact pecking order of his recruiting preferences, but had him sticking with tOSU because of Hartline.

Notes on Hartline
Jan 13, 2023 - Ohio State wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Brian Hartline has been promoted to offensive coordinator, the school announced on Friday.

In addition to his On-the field performance, Hartline has also shown exceptional Off-the-field capabilities.

Hartline, 36, who played for the Buckeyes from 2006 to '08, has been on staff since 2017 and had been the Buckeyes' wide receivers coach since 2018.

Since 2020, Ohio State has signed 13 ESPN 300 wide receivers, with Brandon Inniss (No. 30 overall in 2023), Noah Rogers (No. 69 overall in 2023) and Carnell Tate (No. 236 overall in 2023) all part of a 2023 class ESPN has ranked 10th after last month's early signing period.

Ohio State also has a commitment from junior Jeremiah Smith (No. 11 overall in 2024, No. 2 WR).

Never enjoy getting beat; but have to respect that the other guys have some great talent on staff too.

WR Jerrae Hawkins commits to the Florida Gators over Penn State & Miami

CBN working hard on WRs other than Jeremiah Smith.
Think his ship has sailed - Hartline will pull him in to tOSU.

The Florida Gators football team got faster on Monday when the coaching staff secured a big commitment from a speedy receiver.

Receiver Jerrae Hawkins (5-9, 165, Bradenton, FL. IMG) committed to Florida over Miami and Penn State on Monday.

https://www.gatorcountry.com/featur...-to-the-florida-gators-over-penn-state-miami/

4* WR Jerrae Hawkins (Bradenton, FL) committed to the Gators becoming the 10th player to link with the program over the last 15 days.

The Gators have a long history of utilizing track stars of Hawkins’ size offensively, most notably Jeff Demps, Chris Rainey, Brandon James and Brandon Powell.

Hawkins has run 10.45 seconds in the 100 meters and is thought to run sub-4.3 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

Hawkins an excellent pick up. Last year for Ricky Pearsall.

Hawkins’ commitment pushes Gators into 5th on Rivals & into a tie for third with Michigan in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.

Ha! I genuinely want the Gators to do well except for when they play fsu. I have no hate towards the Gators. I just don't think they are Miami and Texas level disappointing
Numbers,

That is how I feel about FSU; brings credit to HS players & college teams in Florida.

We can't sign them all & Noles (hopefully) a permanent part of our OOC schedule.

To be the best; you have to play the best; & BEAT them !
