Gators to Hire Ron Roberts as LB Coach, Co-Defensive Coordinator ?

Dang, we are on a heater right now. Hate all of this NIL drama means we will have to sweat it out until they sign.

Nick (The Whiner) Saban Says There's 1 Major Flaw About College Football's Playoff System

Bama Doesn't get an automatic seat at the Table ?

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide have advanced to the College Football Playoff seven times since its inception in 2015.

After a rare down year in 2022-23, though, Saban's squad missed out on an eighth appearance in nine seasons and finished their campaign at No. 5 in the final CFP rankings.

Speaking with Fox Sports' Joel Klatt this week, Saban spoke about the Tide being left out of last year's playoff and revealed that he's not sold the current system actually selects the four best teams.

"So, all we do is take the teams that win the most games at the end of the year, put them in the playoffs,"

Cheeky Rascals ! What Nerve !

Saban said. "But do you really get the best teams?

In other words - HE WHINED !

"When they told me that we would be favored against three out of the four teams that got in the playoff, I’m like, why aren’t we in the playoffs?”

"Does that mean they have a better team [than us],” Saban asked,
likely referring to Ohio State, TCU and/or Michigan - the three teams ranked ahead of Alabama in the final CFP rankings last season.

Wonder why no mention of UGA ?

"Or does it mean that those people don’t know what they’re talking about? I really don’t know that.

I’m not being critical of anybody. LOL

But if you’re going to have parity, you have to have a better way of figuring out who has the best teams."

Problem Solved -
Give Saban & Bama an automatic seat at the Table ?

Does being favored by a bunch of "Talking Heads" mean anything ?
Does being favored determine the outcome of the Game ?
OR
Don't you still have to take your team out on the field &
WIN the DAMN GAME ?
https://athlonsports.com/college-fo...1-major-flay-college-football-playoff-alabama

USCw was favored over Utah. They were penciled into the CFP.
BUT
A funny thing happened to USCw on their way to the CFP & a possible Nattie.
Lincoln Riley & the Trojans got their butts kicked by Utah.

"...No. 11 Utah played the role of spoiler Friday night in a Dominant 47-24 win over No. 4 USC in the 2022 Pac-12 Championship Game.

The evisceration (Great Mental Picture) of the Trojans, not only sends Utah into the Rose Bowl for the second straight season but also likely knocks USC out of the College Football Playoff."
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...fend-pac-12-title-claim-rose-bowl-berth/live/

WTF !
USCw #4 - Utah#11
Dammit - USCw WAS FAVORED !
UPSETS NOT ALLOWED

I think an impartial Tribunal of Talking Heads should review the game & change the Verdict !

Just ask Nick (The Whiner) Saban.

Austin Simmons isn’t really a dual threat. Look at his rushing yards. He doesn’t run much. Lagway is a dual threat.
Just to belabor the dual threat points.....

QB-dt Max Brown 6-2 215 - His only 2 Years of playing Organized Football:

Jr 2021 Rushing --- 13 Gms - 154 for 992 Yds, 6.4 YPC 13 TD's, 1 LPF
Sr 2022 Rushing --- 14 Gms - 173 for 1,343 Yds, 7.8 YPC, 20 TD's, ZERO LPF's
Combined Rushing- 27 Gms 327 for 2,335 Yds, 7.1 YPC 33 TD's 1 LPF

QB-dt DJ Lagway 6-3 190 (now listed at 225)

Fr 2020 Rushing -- 9 Gms --- 15 for 12 Yds, 0.8 YPC, 0 TD's, ZERO LPF's
So 2021 Rushing - 12 Gms - 129 for 710 Yds, 5.5 YPC, 6 TD's, 1 LPF
Jr 2022 Rushing --- 8 Gms -- 50 for 517 Yds, 10.3 YPC, 7 TD's - 3 LPF's

Combined Rushing - 29 Gms - 194 for 1,239 Yds, 6.4 YPC, 13 TD's 4 LPF's

So, which seems to be the mo-betta dual threat running the ball?

Yes, after DJ's Sr year, we can revisit this comparison just using DJ's Jr & Sr seasons....
But we can already compare their Jr seasons, keeping in mind that the Jr season was Max's 1st year playing organized football or QB.
And remember, in 2024 Max will have 2 years in the system to DJ's zero. 🤓

Mertz & Miller much slower than Max - less escapability !

CBN should put in a running packages for Max.

Max a decent (not great) receiver. Put Max & Mertz on the field at the same time. Let the opponent guess who is actually playing QB. By the time they figure it out - too late to substitute.

Anything CBN can add to offense is one more item for opponent to prepare for.

4/5* WR Cam Coleman Places Florida in Top 8

Florida is a contender for elite wide receiver prospect Cam Coleman.

No clue to where JEREMIAH SMITH's recruiting is headed.
Doubt CBN or anybody else does either.

CBN still going after top WR talent for Max Brown & our other QBs to throw to.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Coleman is considered the No. 4 wide receiver and No. 11 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite rankings.

Coleman clocked a 4.46-second 40-yard dash and produced a 10-foot, eight-inch broad jump at Under Armour’s Atlanta-area recruiting camp in Feb. 2023, leading to a surge in the prospect rankings.
He hauled in 31 passes for 542 yards and six touchdowns as a junior at Central in the months prior.

2022/2023 Best Receivers in State of Florida
#1
Isaiah Hudson - ATH - Sickles (Tampa, FL) - 1117 yds - 8 Tds
#2
James Randle jr - WR - Mainland - 1105 yds - 12 Tds
#3 Jeremiah Smith - WR - Chaminade-Madonna
1073 yds - 82.5 yds/gm - 18.50 yds/rec - 58 rec - 20 tds

https://www.maxpreps.com/fl/associa...t-leaders/offense/receiving/yds/?classyear=11

Coleman's HS stats not even close to Smith; but Smith can only play for 1 CFB team at a time & he is still saying tOSU.

Florida, Texas, Tennessee, LSU, Clemson and Ole Miss are among the schools that have come calling with scholarship offers since his emergence on the recruiting scene. The Gators offered Coleman on March 7, leading to his May 23 trek to UF.

Coleman has officially visited Clemson, Auburn and Texas A&M this summer and will be at LSU this weekend.

He has yet to schedule an official visit to Florida.

But don't over look Max throwing the ball, while he was taking a beating running it.

HS Jr - 72.7%, 18.9 Yds/comp, with 27 TD's to 6 Int's, QBR 133.7
HS Sr - 71.1%, 16.5 Yds/comp, with 41 TD's to 4 Ints, QBR 142.6
Those numbers without a bunch of 'dink & dunk' junk throws to inflate his passing stats.
Resulting in his OK 3A MVP Award.

Gators trending for 4/5* OLB Jamonta Waller

Over the past hour or so, the Gators have been trending to land 5-star Jamonta Waller.

Waller, out of Picayune, Mississippi, has been a priority target for Ole Miss ever since his recruitment started, and the Rebs have been the favorite for some time.

But tonight, multiple insiders and experts logged predictions on On3 that Waller would end up being a Gator.

Per On3’s RPM, Florida now has a 74.5% chance to land the elite defender, and Ole Miss’ chances have been reduced to 20%.

Waller, a top-ten LB in the 2024 class and the second-best player coming out of Mississippi, would be a major addition to the Gators’ class, and feel pretty sweet for Florida’s staff and fans.

Jamonta Waller commits to the Florida Gators

June 19, 2023

The Florida Gators continued their recruiting avalanche on Monday night when they received a commitment from one of the best players in the country.

Defensive end/outside linebacker Jamonta Waller (6-2, 225, Picayune, MS. Memorial) committed to Florida over Auburn, Ole Miss, and Penn State on Monday night.

This past weekend Waller was on campus for his official visit and met with the coaching staff on how he would fit into Florida’s defense.
https://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/jamonta-waller-commits-to-the-florida-gators/

4/5* Edge Jamonta Waller commits to Florida

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Waller chose to play for head coach Billy Napier and his staff over his other two finalists Auburn and Penn State. He is tabbed by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 5 edge and No. 28 prospect overall. He is the No. 1 recruit in the state of Mississippi.

Waller was originally planning to commit in late August but during his trip over the weekend he really started to get the feeling on Saturday.

My guess - he heard a lot of talk from the other recruits on campus planning to COMMIT !

Answers my question as to whether or not Top Players pay attention to other quality players committing.

“I had it on my mind, but I just wanted to get back to the house and sleep on it,” Waller said. “I woke up this morning like yeah that’s home, let’s get that thing going and stop wasting time.”

Waller becomes commit No. 16 for Florida in the 2024 class, a haul that has skyrocketed the SEC program to No. 3 in the Rivals & 247Sports Recruiting Rankings.

“It’s going to be a very special class,” Waller said. “Guys steady rolling in and I think once they see me come in this is going to be a game-changer and I’m going to bring more dudes and get The Swamp back to where it used to be.”

Jamonta Waller 4/5* Edge from Picayune, MS

Waller’s friendship with four-star running back commit Kahnen Daniels (West Point, MS) undoubtedly helped bring him into the fold. Daniels committed to UF over Mississippi State back on April 10.

The commitment of Waller pushes Florida up two more spots to No. 3 in the Rivals & 247Sports Composite team rankings. The Gators entered the weekend ranked No. 22, moving up 14 spots to No. 8 on Saturday before jumping to No. 5 earlier Monday.

Waller is the third five-star prospect committed to Florida, joining quarterback DJ Lagway (Willis, TX), No. 22 overall, and safety Xavier Filsaime (McKinney, TX), No. 32 overall. It is the first time since 2012 that Florida has three such players committed in the same class. Waller is also the fifth defender pledge ranked among the nation’s top 80 overall prospects, four of which are linebackers or pass rushers.

A SERIOUS NOTE on Football Coaching History

On September 29th, 2013, USC Athletics Director Pat Haden fired Lane Kiffin at 3:14 a.m. on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport following a loss to Arizona State.

The University-Oxford Airport is only located 2 miles away from Oxford - but it's too small to use to fire someone.

The closest major airport to Oxford, Mississippi is Tupelo Regional Airport (TUP), located in Tupelo, Mississippi, which is 48 miles from the center of Oxford.

Now we're talking -
TUP can't outdo LAX, but it's a big enough place to deliver a good, swift, kick-in-the A*ss to Kiffin.

As Tom Petty sang - Don't Come Around Here No More !

If Napier can pull a top 6 class on early signing day with the NIL situation we are dealing with he deserves some major props. I think MI is about the only other team recruiting decent now that has a similar situation as him.

Good lord. Has to be the greatest 3 days of recruiting in Florida football history.
I found this

Prior to this cycle, UF had land four or more commits in one day just five times in two decades. Three of those occurrences were on National Signing Day and the other two happened in January.

Moreover, there’s been only one instance in the last 20 years where the Gators received seven or more commitments over a three-day period, and that also took place during signing day week.

#5 DE/OLB Jamonta Waller 6-2 225 - Natl 28 - Picayune, MS

A nice swap-out with the Lame Kitten on Simmons commit to MS.
Maybe we'll get to see, at some point, how Simmons performs vs Waller....
😁
Insta,

An even swap is no swindle ?

The way things were starting to sound with his dad (attorneys ?), I think we got the better deal.

CBN can always get another great Xfer QB.

LOL

Now if CBN could just get two good WRs for Max to throw to !

Gators hosts two 5* WR prospects Today - Wednesday

Smith & Trader are here to participate in a 7-on-7 tournament Wednesday so I don't know how much contact with CBN & Billy G they will have

Smith still a Buckeye commit & Trader said to be heavily favoring Canes.

But having both of them on campus can't do any harm; a shame Lagway not here.

https://gatorswire.usatoday.com/202...remiah-smith-joshisa-trader-unofficial-visit/

Jeremiah Smith and JoJo Trader on campus for 7on7

Another opinion

Florida football recruiting is hosting its third 7on7 tournament this weekend, “Swamp Shootout”, with teams from all over Florida in attendance.

These 7on7 camps aren’t just a good way to get these guys on campus and have a chance to see the school, but they’re also a great way to scout talent.

Seeing a guy run routes and catch passes in person is the best way to evaluate what a player can bring to your program.

Jeremiah Smith and Joshisa Trader, two of the top eight wideouts in the 2024 class, will be in Gainesville tomorrow for the tournament.

And while this isn’t a conventional visit to the school, Florida’s staff still has a good opportunity in front of them.

On the recruiting side of this, it’s big for Napier and the Gators to get Jeremiah Smith back on campus. He’s stayed very solid to Ohio State throughout his recruitment, but all these visits to Gainesville could end up working to change his mind.

For Trader, he’s told On3 that he’ll likely end up playing his college ball at either UF, Miami, or FSU, and
(PACO ASIDE)
he would be a huge in-state win for the Gators.

Paul (I LOVE His EARS) Finebaum shares the 'mistake' being made in excitement over Florida's recruiting

“I think the mistake people are making is when they get excited about his recruiting, compared to which school,” Finebaum said. “Florida is recruiting better than it has been, but it’s still trailing Georgia, it’s still trailing other schools in the SEC, and it’s like a NASCAR race, you can still be in the top 5 or 6 or 7, but unless you’re going around Turn 4, you better jump ahead of somebody and that’s ultimately what Florida’s facing right now.”

No one is counting Napier out, but Finebaum said next year will be extremely important.

“Patience
(Which FEVER Lacks)
only goes so far with the Florida fan base, I don’t care how long it’s been since they’ve last been relevant,” Finebaum said.

Finebaum said Napier needs a notable win this season, and not necessarily to win 7 or 8 games, but “he needs to show people that he’s capable. He did that too early last year in his first game. He didn’t do it after that, and he needs to do it somewhere along the line this year to give people hope.”

Danny Kanell Calls Out Nick Saban Over College Football Playoff Argument

Nick Saban still appears to be upset about Alabama being left out of last year's College Football Playoff.

Saban expressed his concern (WHINED) that the current system may not actually select the four best teams every year.

But while some in Tuscaloosa this week may agree with Saban's sentiment, one prominent voice in the college football world clearly does not. In a tweet posted this Tuesday morning, CBS Sports' Danny Kanell called out Saban for what he felt was a weak argument.

"I can't believe that one of the greatest coaches of all time STILL doesn't understand why you can't use point spreads to determine who makes the playoffs," Kanell started. "It might be the dumbest argument anyone has ever made in the playoff era."

Thank You Danny !

Mike Shula said when he went to Tebow's house that his bedroom was all Gators all over, sheets, pillows, walls, etc. Tebow was and still is a Gators fan his whole life since birth as his parents met at UF as students. It was close they say but deep down Shula and the rest kind of knew it was going to be hard to break Tebow's love for the Gators. Tebow spoke well of Shula and Bama as a respectful youth and hit it off with Shula but down home Tim was and always is a We Are The Boys of Ole Florida.

Two Gator targets set to commit on July 1st

S Justin Denson and WR Jerrae Hawkins (pushed back from June 26) are the two guys set to make their decisions that day, and both would be huge additions to the Gators’ 2024 recruiting class.

But is there really a shot that the Gators land both?

I would like to think that Hawkins pushing his commit date back to July 1st, to coincide with Denson, was staged by CBN to give both of their commits more punch & encourage some other recruits to join them & commit.

Possible ?

YES !
BUT
Reading the future not one of my skills ?

In addition to Jeremiah Smith, CBN smart enough to go after several other WRs -

Max & Lagway need some additional targets.

Did his family choose their last name because they were like "Eff the French!" Or do they just have a stutter?

I may have to start giving our money guys more credit. FSU fans are crying that we have upped our NIL game this class and it isnt fair. If that is true we can recruit with anyone being here in FL.
