Class of 2025 Florida Gators quarterback commitment Austin Simmons is visiting an SEC rival, Ole Miss, on Friday.
The visit marks Simmons' first to another program since pledging to Florida on April 4. He journeyed to The Swamp roughly a week after his commitment to witness the Gators' Orange and Blue spring game on April 13, before pouring his focus into spring football at the prep level.

These kids don't care about Ws and Ls. They want NIL dollars and playing time.Pretty impressive list. Do you think the Gators will be able to hold onto their class throughout the yr if they have less than optimal results? Last yr you could always say new coaching staff etc. Is Lagway a good recruiter for you guys?
Always interested in this discussion. Most classes stay together and maybe lose a few over results but not many
I may as well go back to watching the NFL, NBA and MLB again. These kids don't care about Ws and Ls. They want NIL dollars and playing time.
I think UF will have a very good class this year. Legit chance at top 5 for sure. The board is loaded! As good as I have seen since the Meyer years. But yes results on the field could have an impact with a few kids. DJ Lagway is the gem though and they can’t lose him. He’s doing a lot of recruiting himself.Pretty impressive list. Billy Napier 1-on-1 talks fixing Florida: 'There's no magical potion, we've just got to do the work'
"... Billy Napier is adamant he knew what he signed up for. Florida’s head coach was handed the keys to a football program that I’ve likened to an aging Ferrari, and after a wheel-spinning Year 1, the once distinguished Orange & Blue continues to fade.
The Gators are 15 years removed from their last SEC (and national) Championship. Napier is the program’s fourth head coach during that time. Florida went 6-7 last fall, and
they’re not projected to make some dramatic Year 2 leap, with Las Vegas setting the team’s 2023 win-total at an eye-poppingly low 5.5 games."
Vegas is not emotional; they do not set odds with their hearts; they are cold-blooded & MAY BE correct.
I am emotional & evaluate W/L with my Orange & Blue Bleeding Heart.
Defense better (but not great) & Mertz will be enough of a game manager & short / medium passer to win some (at least one) of the tossup games.
Think they will be 7-5 & stay away (Hopefully) from the L V Bowl (thank you for the SCREW Job SEC office).

Fever,People arent going to buy excuses in year 3. So he better get the QB situation fixed or pull a mini-miracle with Mertz. LSU had a bunch of people bolt on them prior to Kelly arriving. If he has a good year with the portal guys he brought in and some good production from his 2nd year recruited players it will look poorly on Napier.
Fever,
I agree with you frequently;
BUT
Not In this case -
your opinion / comparison (CBN vs Brian Kelly) is inaccurate.
In terms of a historical comparison -
CBN vs Kelly IS NOT EVEN CLOSE !
LSU, before Kelly's arrival, a MUCH better team than the Gators - Gators' last victory - 2018.
As Bill Parcels said - "You are what your record says you are."
FACTS
Brian Kelly & CBN became HFC at LSU & UF, respectively, in 2022. In 2022, Kelly & LSU beat CBN & The Gators 45 - 35.
In the 11 years prior to CBN & Kelly, (2011 - 2021) LSU won 8 of 11 games -
Making
LSU 9 of 12 over the Gators in the last DOZEN YEARS - a win % 0f .750

Kelly the Head Coach at ND for 12 seasons. During that time CBN's ONLY Head Coaching Job - ULL for 5 years.
CBN has never been a Coordinator at a Power 5 School.
Kelly is the winningest active coach in NCAA Football (all divisions)*. He is the only coach to win The Home Depot Coach of the Year Award (2009, 2012 and 2018) on more than one occasion. He has had three undefeated regular seasons - Grand Valley State (2002), Cincinnati (2009), & Notre Dame (2018)
His .743 winning percentage trails only Nick Saban among active FBS coaches with at least 15 years of head coaching experience*.

KELLY ERA AT NOTRE DAME
With 10 wins in seven different seasons at Notre Dame (2012*, 2015, 2017-21), Kelly has more 10-plus wins than any other head coach in Notre Dame’s storied history.
With the win over Wisconsin on Sept. 25,
Kelly passed Knute Rockne to claim sole possession of first all-time in program history in career wins at Notre Dame.
He is the first Irish head coach in program history to have five-straight seasons with 10 wins or more (2017-21).
OBVIOUSLY
Coming from ND, Kelly had MUCH better name recognition on the recruiting trail than CBN.
Kelly has far more experience in Power 5 big games than CBN.
Game management at the Head coaching level - Knowing when to call a timeout (LOL), kick a FG or go for it on 4th down - is important
FACT
"...LSU has the biggest home-state advantage in all of CFB recruiting and continues to roll even with Brian Kelly’s “average” recruiting reputation."

Though it won't be on your time schedule,
I BELIEVE that CBN will turn the Gator's Football program around & that changing HFC after 3 years would be a TRAGIC MISTAKE !
Jeremy Foley, in his quest for the Annual All-Sports Trophy - Men's & Women's Combined, put the three major Men's sports at peril.
We had a huge facility's disadvantage & inadequate Head Coaches.
Under Scott Stricklin, we are making progress - but still have a long way to go.

Danny,For the record, Urban Meyer was never a coordinator either.
Fever,Show me a coach that ended up big time in modern football that went 6-6/7-5 his first 3 seasons even without the benefit of the modern portal situation to rebuild quicker. In the SEC you probably cant find one without a pretty good season in his first 2 seasons. As far as 3 full seasons Dabo comes to mind as it was year 3 things were improved. Just saying if you are at a big time program like UF and are flirting with 7-5 in year 3 you are not a top coach - dont care what you walked into. Year 1 and 2 can be wrote off but not year 3 if you didnt have a good previous year.
Danny,
One of the reasons I said -
I BELIEVE that CBN will turn the Gator's Football program around & that changing HFC after 3 years would be a TRAGIC MISTAKE !
Fever,
Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)
Is that just your frustration talking
OR
Do you really think turning over HFC - AGAIN will help gators to improve ?
What happens to our recruiting if we turn over HFC AGAIN -
5th HFC in 13 years ?
If we are that STUPID -
UF is NO LONGER a big time program !
Who the HELL is going to take the job without a !00% Salary Guarantee ?
Some HS Coach ?
Think About IT !
Is Urban Meyer angling to take over Texas — and is he exactly what Longhorns need?
There might be a good reason why Urban Meyer is speaking so highly of Texas football of late.
What if I told you Urban Meyer might want to get back into coaching again, you know, possibly at a place like Texas?
Matt Hayes of Saturday Down South (see below) connected the dots for us in this department. He is not alone in thinking Meyer could leave Big Noon Kickoff for a place like Texas, but it was cool to see somebody put their name on it and put it out there. I tend to agree that this would be the one place that would make the most sense for Meyer, but do you want to get in business with him?
I mean, Meyer already said the Longhorns have arguably the best roster in all of college football.
You can absolutely win college football games with Meyer, but it doesn’t always end well when he decides he doesn’t want to coach your team anymore. Of course, Steve Sarkisian is still in charge…
Let’s discuss if Meyer has interest in the Texas job, or if he is dangling the carrot to create leverage.
Urban Meyer’s infatuation with Texas could be part of a bigger plan in the works
Look. I want Sarkisian to succeed at Texas. He is a brilliant offensive mind, a great recruiter and has overcome so much in his personal life. If it works out for him in Austin, Longhorn Nation will build him a statue. In the case that it doesn’t, and he continues to be roughly a 7-5 head coach, Meyer could leave the FOX studio set and get Texas turned around almost immediately. There’s no doubt.
Urban takes over at Texas & returns to the Swamp !
SRO !
Think About It !
Other Things to Think About with Urban -
Meyer could also abandon Austin faster than concert goers attending SXSW.
He is pushing 60 and has already retired twice from the coaching profession for health concerns.
The question is if that Urban juice is worth the squeeze.
(Writer of Article)
Truth be told, I think Meyer is using Texas as leverage to make even more money to work for FOX.
Vintage Urban for sure !

Hayes: Urban Meyer to Texas? The seeds are being planted ...
Urban Meyer is rooting around for a job again, everyone.
Not just any job. A job with the biggest budget and deepest pockets in all of college football.
Texas is 13-12 overall (9-12 vs. Power 5 schools) and 9-9 in the Big 12 under Sarkisian. I don’t need to explain that those numbers don’t cut it for a program that has run through Charlie Strong and Tom Herman since forcing out Mack Brown after the 2013 season.
So what does Urb do? He turns up the heat like only he can, knowing full well that if he says Texas has the best roster in college football — and he knows all about building elite rosters — big donor Texas boosters will use that very statement against Sarkisian if the Longhorns don’t fulfill those unreasonable expectations.

So he's a legacy via brother Gouriage? Based on headline I thought he was going to be son of Wondy...and I was going to say, boy they grow up so fast, haha, Wondy started young I was thinking, haha.Legacy Recruit Eddy Pierre-Louis Includes Gators in Top 10
What Urban Meyer used to call a Road Grader !
As a legacy recruit to the University of Florida, Pierre-Louis — the brother of former Gators offensive lineman Richard Gouraige — has shown significant interest in the Gators dating back to his original offer from the program in March 2021.

Florida is currently in the best position for a sleeper lineman -
Oh Sh*i*t !
If we are striking out on established, well regarded. highly ranked OL
and
are now looking for OL "Sleepers" & "Diamonds in the Rough"
Unless he is a PWO -
Gators are in serious trouble for OL Recruiting !
Sorta like our Portal QB recruiting.
