Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

Can't blame the refs or poor free throw shooting tonight. Just getting the crap beat out of us. The SEC is a very good BB conference and this Gator team just doesn't seem to measure up. Clayton & Pullin are playing, the rest of the team is soft.

Samuel misses free throws, turns the ball over a bunch and doesn't hustle on defense. Not sure why he's playing at this point. We need to start a new hoops thread. This one is bad luck.

10-6 the rest of the way to get in with one or two of them having to be good wins. Blowing that home KY game might end up being the nail in our coffin.

Our bigs really got manhandled. We stuck with the same lineup for like 8 minutes when the game completely got out of hand. Either Golden was trying to prove some kind of point or he’s a little slow on the uptake. Our offense is just run a pick for Clayton or Pullin and let them go one on one. We opened with 2 tough league games but I don’t love our chances of going 10-6 in the SEC with this group.

Here's the crazy thing, we've scored 85 points in both our conference games and sit at 0-2. Our defense is atrocious. Team is in a funk at the moment.

Golden and the rest of the team will either respond the same way Ole Piss did after their loss to UT or it will be another long miserable season.
I'm not taking anything away from Ole Piss. Chris Beard was just hired this season and made a quick turnaround. He's one of college hoops best coaches.

Right now Florida is 124th in D1 in assist to turnover ratio at 1.22. We are 318th in free throw shooting at 65.38%, 204th in 3 point shooting at 33.04%, 226th in 3 point defense at 33.90%, 147th in field goal defense at 42.533%, 104th in field goal shooting at 46.43%, 13th in rebound margin at 10 per game, 296th in turnover margin at -1.7, 296th in scoring defense at 76.5 ppg., 40th in fast break ppg. at 14.4, 236th in fouls per game at 17.7, 10th in scoring offense at 86.1 ppg. and 102nd in bench scoring at 24.47 ppg. Lots of flaws in this team and I'm not sure how they can all be fixed at nearly the mid-point of the season.

If they all played with the focus and energy that Haugh always plays with, then they might begin approaching a real 'TEAM,' instead of just a bunch of guys trying to play basketball.... 🙄

That chit last night was pretty U-Glee to watch happen.... 😫

PS -- but yes, the incompetent and/or biased refs are still an ongoing problem in the iG's OHO...

On offense, Clayton and Pullin do a pretty good job of getting to the rim. The problem is they’re also the only guys on the team who can hit a jump shot so there’s nobody to kick to when they drive.

Dang, 10th in scoring offense at 86 points per game...
Several facets of the Gators' game faltered in the defeat, including ball security, free throw shooting and missed opportunities at the rim, along with a lack of any solid defense....

With this teams ongoing
lack of consistency from game to game, it sadly all looks like a recurring theme to the iG....

While taking positive steps forward offensively this year (#34 at 86.1 PPG), the Gators have regressed considerably on the defensive end. Florida slides from No. 52 to No. 82 in adjusted defensive efficiency.

True Fr C/PF Alex Condon, (11 Pts & 15 Rbs, 10-Off) had some things to say in the MS post game:
"Have some pride."
"There are too many times when guys just go off and do their own thing. We have to establish ourselves by being strong on the defensive end. Have some pride and not be happy taking the ball out of the net every possession."

Georgia almost upset Tennessee today. Had a nice lead midway through the 2nd half, but got dominated the last 4-5 minutes and lost.

Yes, our defense sucks and we miss way too many free throws. If this team could at least start making free throws they will win a few more games. But offensively its nice to actually have a team that score points vs the boring 65 or so we used to average.

They played great today and beat Arkansas by 22. Shot it great, rebounded it great and it was good to see Kugel have a solid game. Play like they did today and they'll win a lot more games.

Schedule to start the season did not do us any favors. It's actually easier the last 1/3 of conference play. At UT Tuesday will be very difficult.

Mike White vs Ole Miss

W 1-16-2016 - 80-71 - away
W 2-9-2016 -- 77-72 - home

W 1-3-17 -- 70 - 63 - home
L 1-13-18 -- 72-78 - away

W 1-30-19 -- 90 - 86 OT home

W 1-14-20 -- 71-55 home
L 2-8-20 ---- 51-68 away

Note: Florida played the toughest non-conference slate of any SEC team for the 4th time in 5 years under Mike White, according to KenPom (3rd in 2017-18). During conference play, the Gators are shooting .462 from the field and .381 from 3-point range, both #1 in the SEC league rankings. >>>>> NCAA Tourney Scamdemiced....

W 1-12-21 -- 72-63 home

L 1-24-22 -- 54-70 away
W 2-5-22 -- 62-57 home
Mike went 7-3 vs Ole Miss

Todd Golden vs Ole Miss
W 2-15-23 -- 79-64 home
L 1-10-24 -- 85-103 away

* Ole Miss scored more than 100 points in an SEC game for the first time since 2001
* The last time Florida gave up at least 100 points in a SEC game was Feb. 5, 2008,

So far, Todd's 1-1 vs Ole Miss

PS
I'm not a Mike White fan.
I'm also not a Todd Golden fan.
I'm certainly not a Socialist-U fan.

Instead I'm just a old-time Gator fan that's pretty disgusted with where they have ended up, due to the recent and current decision makers....
😣

Ole Miss didn't have Chris Beard as their head coach when Mike White's teams met up head to head. As I've stated earlier, Beard was a slam dunk hire for the Rebs and he's one of the nations best coaches and if I were the Ole Piss AD, I'd make Beard the highest paid college basketball coach with a $60 million buyout.

Mike White also lost to Chris Beard in 2018 NCAA tourney.

This @ Tenn game is really big since we blew that home KY game. Lose it and you are looking at needing to close out on at least a 9-5 run searching for some good wins. Win it and you have a real big win and 8-6 to close out should do it.

If the Gators score 85+ and still lose, then the Countrybumpkin will still be satisfied I'm guessing. 😉

For myself, I'd much rather see them play suffocating defense, only score 65, and win the damn game..... 😎

I like how it's now only about the number of points scored, and no longer about the outcomes of the games....

Well Golden is early in year 2 and trying to rebuild a program that had fallen into middle of the pack. He's here to win championships, and if he doesn't, he can go coach the dawgs after they tire of mike white and fire him.

Don't you actually mean that they were in a 7 consecutive winning season win streak while qualifying for a post season tourney every time, while Mike took over a 6-26, 1-17 program and instantly turned it around???

Your eyes are definitely a dark brown color imo.....

Yep Mike White has transformed that team to his vision and has created a really good team. I cant wait to see Golden and Mike White match their game plans and strategy against one another. Unlike the NBA the coach can really make a difference in who wins in college.

That first one with 'Larry Legend' was for our Bigs, so here's a former Gator PG showing the other guys how it's done. He'd rather get an assist than score himself (4,611 NBA Career Assists), but because of his assists ability, it made his own drives and scoring easier to get.

Both Bird and
'White Chocolate' spent the necessary time practicing that was needed to be able to do what they did in games, and they never needed the coach to make them practice, either with the team or all alone on their own... -- Those 2 are examples of what it takes to get it done....

So was UCF so what's your point? Yay Mike White!! You had 7 consecutive years of middle of the pack winning seasons! Awesome job! Congrats on tuning around the dawgs! They are now championship caliber too! Way to go baby!! My eyes are brown while your eyes are blind. Again, a little intellectual HONESTY can go a long way...
