Carry over to Gator 2023-24 Basketball :-)

Anyone feel bold enough to try and predict the game score for tomorrow nights game @ Tennis-sea???

Tomorrow afternoon. Game moved to 5 pm due to weather. Pulling for the upset, but I think UT wins something like 90-80.

Vols at home will be too much. Gators caught 3 of the top 4 teams in their first 4 conference games. Vols 88 Gators 76. Get them in Gainesville and I think we would win.

I'm calling a close upset for the Gators, just because 'it's so freakin' unlikely' to actually happen...

Gators 88 - 85 Rubber-Dollies

(my idiot positivity for the week for those that need it and ask for it).
😉

If Kugel can get his head out of his rump like he did against Arky, we will have a fighting chance. Also I would love to see Aberdeen in for a few more minutes. We will need his defensive energy today.

The Gators are 8-22 against KenPom top-100 opponents dating back to the start of last season, a record that includes back-to-back losses to open SEC play this year.

Tennessee’s KenPom rank: No. 8 (No. 20 in Off. efficiency/No. 4 in Def. efficiency)
Florida's KenPom rank: No. 40 (No. 25 in Off. efficiency/No. 80 in Def. efficiency)
Their Favorite: Tennessee by 9.5-points
KenPom’s projection: 85-75, Tennessee (82% chance of winning.

The iG's 'Key to the Game' --- Protecting the Ball

Florida ranks No. 326 nationally in opponent steal percentage and No. 187 in turnover percentage.
Tennessee enters the game averaging 7.9 steals per game and 13.38 turnovers forced per game.

Florida's 45.3 Rbs/Gm is #1 in SEC.
Florida's Rebounding Margin of +10.9 is #1 in SEC.
Florida's Off. Rb's at 16.4 is #2 in SEC.

SI's Ben Mckee -- Tennessee's ability to turn Florida over will be the difference in this one as long as long as the Gators don't dominate the offensive glass. TENNESSEE 80 FLORIDA 70

That was a bad one after blowing that KY game. Now we probably would need to close out on a. 9-5 run with at least 2 big wins in there and we only have 2 big win possible games at home left. And we only have 2 big win possibilities in away games.

We just need to win games. Have to get Mizzou on the road. Then 2 winnable games at home. Then presumably lose to UK and aTm on the road. Then start our tourney run at 4-5.

The toughest part of the schedule is behind us. Like you mentioned, just need to win games. One thing that stood out tonight, Vols have a pretty decent talent advantage over us. They have 3 legit nba guys and I don't believe we have any.

The most hilarious thing about that is Rick Barnes had better talent in years past. It will be another 1st round exit for Regular Season Rick.

This loss is on Golden for not getting his players to match their defensive intensity.

If you can't win with two future NBA hall of famers on the roster, odds are you ain't never going to win....so yes, regular season rick will strike again this year. If Knecht goes cold they will be an early exit.

I only wished that UF and TexAss crossed paths during the 2007 NCAA Tourney, but Regular Season Rick was being Regular Season Rick with world beater Kevin Durant.

UT shot 60.0% in the first half, 18/30.
UF shot 29.4% in the first half, 10/34
Tennessee took a 12-point lead into the halftime break.

UT shot 43.3% in the 2nd half, 13/30.
UF shot 29.4% in the 2nd half, 10/34.

Offensive Shooting for the Game:
UT 31/60 for 51.7%
UF 20/68 for 29.4%

UT finished the game with a +19 victory. --- UF 66 - 85 UT
That's the results of having poor offense and weak defense against a quality team.....

More thug ball (aided by the game officials) by the very aggressive SEC opponent in the iG's OHO. While you don't need to play thug ball in every game, when the other guys are and the officials are calling a loose 'let them thug it' game, you need to join in on the thuggery....

Their guys constantly had their hands and/or body in tight contact against the Gator players on defense, while the Gators on defense usually had 3 feet between them and the Vol players.
The iG would rather see 3-4 Gator's foul out in a loss, instead of them being made double-digit loss chumps by the aggressive SEC opponents....

BTW, both Auburn and SCa play up-tight body contact defense like UT and MS play. I look for the same kind of double-digit loser results if Golden can't adjust to aggressive SEC style of play when it's necessary...

Team Stats Vs TN
FG% = 20/68 - 29.4%
3's% = 5/22 - 22.7%
FT% = 21-25 - 84.0%
-----
UF had 7 Ast's to 11 TO's = 0.64 to 1.0
UT had 17 Ast's to 13 TO's = 1.31 to 1.0

UF had 3 Blks & 8 Steals.
UT had 6 Blks & 9 Steals

Auburn is the 3rd best team in the league. They are tough. SC is not very good.

While have more size and talent that last year's team, they are not playing well together and don't seem to have the competitive toughness it takes to compete at the higher levels of the SEC.

More of the Countrybumpkins excellent opinions on display....

Which is why the lamecocks are 14-3 (0.824), 2-2 SEC and 9-1 at home.
With decent wins vs:
VaTech
VMI
DePaul
Notre Dame
George Wash.
=====
MsSt (12-4) -- Unlike UF, MsSt knocked off Tenn. but lost to SCa.
Mizz

In comparison to SCa, UF is the one that's not very good....
😫

Well, when the season ends and SC is 8-10 in the conference get back to me. If they finish in the top 6 I will issue you an apology. Just like when you started posting emory jones stats at after a couple of games, and then went silent, I suspect the same will happen here.

I don't care where SCa ends up.
I don't want any useless apology from you.
Did Jones end up with a better W/L record than Mertz has produced?
(I don't know, nor do I care, it's rhetorical)

But anyway, you're just as tiring and boring as I've come to expect from you....

It's hard to say on SC but if they beat us we are done probably.

Looking at the schedule we can most likely forget about the tournament if we lose any of the next 3 games.

Beat a team with an overall losing record by 12, that is O-fer five SEC.

It is a win, but it's not a 'good' win imo.

However, it's way better than a 'terrible' loss there would have been.

Sorry, best I could do in my latest attempt to be positive.... 🙄

Women's Basketball loses at home by 12 to Mississippi State. They got badly outrebounded and only had 2 assists. They don't play good defense and don't share the ball. They have 2-3 players who basically hog the ball and take 80% of the shots. Now 10-7, 1-4 in the SEC. Not looking good.

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but I missed it last week.

PF Aleks 'Shimmy' Szymcxyk 6-10 250 So

He was cleared to play vs Mizzou,
but I don't remember him being in the game???
I expect that Todd will begin to ease him back into games, as he's been practicing with the team for a couple of weeks already....
