But OP tells us President has no control over the price of gas. OP also told is in the thread starter that gas would be $2.50 a gallon in a week. It doubled in price from there and is still $2-3 dollars a gallon more across the nation.

Here, in Jacksonville, gas prices fell to $3/gal & then instantly jumped 30 cents/gal when the production cuts were announced.
