Batteries cost more than the car

Also most of the electricity to re-charge these batteries is being generated by fossil fuels.
As always, sheep forgot to read the fine print. You gotta admire how the dems manipulate the sheep, literally tricking them into keeping the fossil fuel industry afloat, while they believe they are sinking it LMAO!

The cheapest Model 3 Tesla that I found on the interwebz was $57,900. Most were $70k (long range). I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers from.

A similarly equipped Camry is about $35k. The annual fuel costs are ~ $2,400. The battery on the Model 3 will last about 8 years and will cost $16,500 to replace. 8 year cost of Camry fuel is $19,200.

Camry- 35k + 19,200 = $54,200 after 8 years

Tesla 3- 57,900 + 16,500 = $74,400 after 8 years

As I said, it's not even close. Math doesn't lie man.

That doesn't even include the recharging costs. And the figures get much worse if I use the Tesla Model 3 Long Range...which is actually more comparable to the capabilities of the Camry than the one I used.
I'd rather purchase a Tundra, Silverado, F150, or any Chevy/Ford full size SUV for $58k over a cramped, overrated Tesla.

God gave man dominion over the animals. You may believe that eating animals is murder. We disagree....so eating meat doesn't make one less "godlike."

Also...

This clown @Mdfgator obviously isn't a Chirstian given his ignorance of God's creation and dynamic.

Megadumbfraudgator is a specieaphobe or a specieist. He indiscriminately murders plants of all varieties in order to protect the evil meat animals that are destroying the Earth with their farts.... 😬 By me eating steaks, I'm actually protecting the Earth from O-Zone destruction....

BTW --- Not just black plants matter, but ALL PLANTS matter.... 🤓.
i am simply tryig to make you more at one with gods creatures.

lol, thats a good excuse to commit murder...

progress doesnt have to be bad open your arms to it and embrace it, DONT BE SO SCARED!!!! and such a GD Cliche!!!

How is slaughtering plants saving the lives of God's creatures?

You pay 2-3 more for 'plant-based' copies that have a third of the nutritional value of the meats they are supposed to replace, then you call others sheep.

But you are living out your politics, so you're happy. You do you.
Don't forget, he told me ITT that he doesn't drive a Telsa for the environment...

If "progress" is eating highly processed Soy products (do some homework on what eating too much Soy can do) that look like beef and a road trip taking an extra 10 hours because I have to charge my electric truck every 100 miles you can keep it.

I'm not scared of it, it's just moving backwards.

But when you're making decisions due to zealotry and not common sense, it's exciting I guess.

If you believe God created man, why do we have canine teeth? What are those for? Why don't we have flat teeth front to back and chew in a semi-rotational manner like a cow or a horse (AOC excluded)?

And if you believe in evolution, what was the turning point where our brains started to grow and we started to exert intellectual dominance?

Either belief system points to the benefits of eating meat. We're omnivores.

nice try, i dont only want you to drive an EV, tesla is the best, i want you to stop eating meat and swith to beyond meat or impossible, you can save your health and that of the planet that we all love so much!!
😂 Holy shit. Missed this somehow. That's a weak troll there, right as you took the last bite of your ribeye steak. 🤣

Pretty sure he's never been within 100 miles of a Tesla. Dems love to get on the internet and fantasize about the life they wish they lived and the cars, boats and houses they wish they owned.

Then go back to their boring lives and keep voting for the people who are preventing them from having those lives. It's the damnest thing.

Just did a quick check...cheapest Telsa within 150 miles of me is a $31k 2013 Model S base with 74k miles.

Just in time to spend another $15k-$20k on a new battery 😆

Clownshow... @Mdfgator - make sure you sell your ride to a sucker before the battery warranty runs out!

Once you get high miles on them they start malfunctioning. Just got a 15,500$ estimate for my Tesla. Tesla charges highest bid because no other competitors around. Gas is reliable. Doesn’t do well in the snow or cold conditions as well.

Think twice when buying a used Tesla

I bought my 2013 Model S from its 2nd owner at 98k miles after lots of research reaffirming that maintenance cost was low and reliability was high. I actually loved my car, drove smoothly and quietly, but then I didn’t even reached 120k miles on it when the high voltage battery completely died on me. I parked one day at work with 80% charge and got out from work to find the battery completely drained to the point of not even starting or being able to put into neutral to push it to a charging stall. I left the car plugged in using 3 extension cords for the entire weekend (still at my job’s parking lot) and it didn’t take any charge at all and never turned back on again. I towed it to the nearest Tesla service center and after over a week they told me the battery had completely died and it needed full replacement to the tune of $23k (the car’s average value in the best condition possible and long range trim is ~$26k). I asked about warranty coverage and they told me I was out (over 100k miles and just at the 8 year mark). I asked hypothetically if I had the money for the repair what their warranty would be and they said 50k miles on the battery only. The message is: DON’T BUY USED TESLAS but if you do make sure you’re still within the warranty period. GET RID OF THE CAR BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES, after that all bets are off, it may very well become a bottomless money pit. DON’T EVER BUY A TESLA WITH NEW BATTERY thinking that it’s like buying a new car - it isn’t, you’re only covered for 50k miles on a fresh battery - completely wasteful and senseless. It’s a great, fun, and classy car while the warranty lasts (service is great and at no cost for warranty covered items, no questions asked). But once out of warranty you’re all on your own. They wouldn’t even buy it back from me for parts - terrible customer service (when things went south) that leaves much to be desired from such reputable brand.

I will never buy another Tesla-- battery failed

After only 43,000 miles my Tesla Model S battery began to fail. A full charge dropped from about 235 miles to a mere 100 miles. The Sunnyvale Service Tesla experts informed me that the battery would completely fail very soon or a few months down the road and I could be stranded. They wanted to charge me $22,000 for a new battery, which they would install in a few months or so. I was furious and hugely disappointed. Counting tax, registration etc., I paid $98,000 for this new Model S Tesla. That the car essentially quit after 43,000 miles and 8 years 4 months leads me to regret every buying it. I begged a Sunnyvale Tesla Service manager to charge less or nothing at all for a new battery since the warranty was up about 5 months prior and my Tesla had only 43,000 miles. The Tesla manger refused. I told him that I thought, given the money I paid, that Tesla would consider finding a good solution for the sake of customer satisfaction. The employee responded to my request (paraphrase): You are just out of luck and Tesla policy is not going to help you. The Sunnyvale Tesla service manager said that he knew of other Tesla’s with failed batteries so mine was not an unexpected event. I will NEVER buy another Tesla. Those cars are expensive, yet their batteries may fail within or just after 8 years. Previously I purchased non-Tesla cars that lasted 110,000 to 150,000 miles. Not my Tesla – only 43,000 miles. A friend also purchased a Tesla. His battery failed after only 67,000 miles. The environmental impact of Tesla cars includes all the effort to mine lithium plus other unattractive environmental effects to produce the massive battery. Now my battery may end up in the landfill. Sunnyvale Tesla said they have no rebuilt batteries. So the environmental impact is not so simple. Plug-in hybrid car batteries have a longer warranty. Their batteries are not as massive as Tesla’s battery. So I am beginning to suspect that the environmental effect of buying Tesla’s and other electric cars may not be the best for the environment. Perhaps plug-in hybrids are a wiser choice.

Now you see why I said IF EV's make sense for your situation...short term lease it ONLY. If you buy one...the appraised value WILL be reduced for battery like expectancy. People who appraise cars are not stupid like some of our posters. You see one come in 3-4 years old with 50-75000 mile on it..you HAVE to deduct the price of a battery. FIRST, you have to see if it is even available. No....RUN away from EV's. They are WAY premature at this time. It does not make ANY sense to HOPE that technology gets better. No smart man has ever said anything like that. The government AND the manufactures are blatantly lying to everyone. I wonder why? $$$$$$$$$$$. And remember...the American auto manufacturers are VERY pro left. Fuggin unions have RUINED them. They lie just like our government does. Actually in this case in unison. I truly laugh at anyone bragging about owning one of these disasters. I somewhat can understand leasing one short term IF you drive a lot of miles(but not much over 15k a yr...because that would defeat the purpose of leasing)

i have to go tee it high and let it fly, you girls come up with more brainy things for me to read when i return, i shall return......

if you think the EV movement is fake because you think its more manly or conservative to drive an inferior procuct, thats very very normal and sane of you....really it is....

Neither of us has said anything of the sort. You're deflecting to this because you're out of debate options.

The EV movement isn't fake. It's premature and it isn't ready to compete. They are cool cars and they are a novelty....but they are absolutely not economically viable by comparison...yet.

I PROMIE you have NO IDEA what the used car market is. If you are saying overall the used car market is hot concerning values...you would be correct. The ONLY reason that it is so hot is because there are not enough NEW vehicles to keep up with demand. That can change almost overnight. What you have NO IDEA about is what will happen to the value of an EV 3-4 yrs down the road...or even sooner if the miles start getting around 75-80000. I do not care how hot the market is then....anyone that appraises that car will deduct whatever the replacement cost of the whole battery is. This will happen until they start making batteries last 2-300k. I do not think that will happen in my lifetime.

We TOTALLY missed on clean diesels here in our Country. That would have been a GREAT step to electric vehicle, while the technology is advanced. I HIGHLY recommend selling your EV before the miles hit 50K.

I don't subscribe to any of them. I get my news and information from everywhere. I will often read 2 or 3 articles on the same event and then chuckle as they contradict one another.

If at the end of the above I'm still not sure what is truth and what is fiction, I pray for guidance.

BTW mdf, it's completely OK that EV's aren't fully ready at this point. Our energy infrastructure couldn't support them even if they were.

I think there's a very decent chance that EV's will become viable in my lifetime if we allow that to occur organically. If we don't, that future seems less certain.

Showing my age, but anyone here remember (reading about) the Edsel? How about the DeLorean?
These EVs have flux capacitors? :D

Both cars were ahead of their time...especially the Edsel. It was safer, cooler and included (for the era) cutting edge technology. Excellent examples.

As for the DeLorean's downfall...

Actually, if anyone gets the chance to watch "Dynasties" on Fox Nation.....The one about the Fords is AMAZING. Edsel Ford SAVED Ford motor company from Henry Ford's unwillingness to change. It is such a disservice to him to have the "Edsel"failure as what most people remember him for. FMC was getting SLAMMED by GM and Chrysler, because Henry refused to change the Model T.(model T was only built in one color also) Edsel was an artist, and designed the Model A...but almost had to fist fight his Dad to build the car. He also contracted building bombers for WWII, and used the assembly line to produce I think 8 times more planes than were being built. He was a force.

Actually officer, that's a misconception. Delorean's company was in a cash crunch..... underfunded, and had marketing problems. People knew he was desperate. DeLorean was set up by someone who didn't like him. The Po Po approached him with a way to bandaid his problem. He ended up walking due to entrapment. I still think gull wing doors are stupid anyway.
