The point being made isn't that Kirby will end up having the career that Richt did. The point being made is to remind you Georgia fans that you were just as horny over Richt in 2004 as you are over Kirby today.

We’re way hornier over Kirby, trust me. Richt couldn’t recruit with the big boys; Kirby is one of the big boys when it comes to recruiting. Dan can’t recruit with the big boys either.

That's Richt's 1st 4 classes (Rivals only goes back to 2002 rankings). Starting with the 2005 class, rankings start to slip a bit.

Cause Richt sold recruits in the first 4 classes on Georgia being the new Florida State just like Kirby is selling recruits on Georgia being the new Alabama.

Richt couldn't get it done on the field, recruits started to notice and go elsewhere.

No, I disagree that wasn’t the point everyone made.

Sure, UGA fans were excited about Richt. Any fan base in a similar situation would be. Richt had a strong start but was given a more loaded roster than Kirby inherited and also an easier SEC. Richt couldn’t keep up when the league improved and make the changes necessary.

As I said, Kirby has the program in better shape than Richt ever did. Kirby’s worst full recruiting class is better than Richts best in 16 years.

Again, if you are implying they are the same, and most here were, that’s beyond simplistic. The program is in better shape than it ever has been in my lifetime. To deny that is either willfully ignorant or not paying attention.

No he wasn't. I followed recruiting at this time because Donnan came on at Georgia about the same time that Dubose did at Alabama.

Both coaches did the same thing: Signed classes that were good on NSD, but didn't pan out. Donnan's classes were Top 10 and Top 15 from what I remember, and many of his players didn't pan out just like a lot of Dubose's recruits didn't pan out.

Richt had a lot of rebuilding to do, plus he had that 'changing of the culture' that you homers claim Kirby was saddled with.

They can’t get that through their heads about it does make a difference how much talent you inherit and what kind of shape the program was in when said coach inherits the program especially when it comes to coaches like Saban and Mullen.

Mullen took over a 4 win program and preceded to win 10. Smart took over a 10 win program and preceded to win 8. Saban took over a mess at Bama as well.
