Urban wasn't in the SEC in 2004. Neither was Derick Mason, Butch Davis or Jim McElwain.
SEC was pretty good in the 90s too. Georgia fans disagree cause they were pretty bad.
Didn’t Richt have to coach against Spurrier for a year or 2 and Meyer? I’d say those are some pretty darn good National Championship winning coaches.
I’m pretty sure during Richt’s era at UGA multiple national titles were won by SEC schools. Bama won 3, Florida 2, LSU 2 & Auburn 1. That’s 8 national titles. The SEC was very good during the Richt years.

That’s what I was saying num nuts. Kirby came into sec at its peak and has had to deal with possibly the greatest college football dynasty ever, that he helped create.
Richt beat ARKANSAS to win the SEC in year two.
Way more depth in the SEC back then than just Alabama rolling through the league like they do now. Maybe UGA fans just need to convince themselves the SEC was worse when multiple teams were winning national titles because they aren’t on that list.
So your comment that the SEC is stronger now than it was during the Richt era was incorrect because you meant there is one great team in the SEC in Alabama. Sounds like Kirby has an easier path to the SEC if it’s only one or two teams deep.

Dude the SEC has sucked ass the last few yrs compared to when "the sec was the sec". Its been literally ONLY Bama who just got curb stomped by Clemson. Sweet mother of god just realize it. Its like trying to tell ur best friend u walked in on his gf and some other guy and he doesnt believe it. Thats how i feel talking to uga fans.
Huh? I actually think the SEC may have been better when Richt was at UGA. A little more balance across the league. 4 different SEC programs won national titles back then.
The SEC is still very good but it will be better when Mullen gets UF back on track and then LSU and Auburn get real coaches.
But at one point you had 2 of the GOATs of all time in the same conference in Meyer and Saban. That’s not normal

The SEC was great when Richt was there, but not during his first 3 years. As much as I love richt, he got hammered when the big boy coaches arrived. My comments were in reference to richt vs kirby’s first 3 years.
Sucked compared to what? They recruit the best athletes every year. Clemson’s toughest game annually has been Syracuse, a basketball school. The ACC is a basketball conference, dude. Clemson is good, but they struggle against every sec team they play. I know, the beat bama’s ass, but they struggled against Carolina and Texas A&M
The SEC was probably the toughest its ever been from 2008-2011.
But there were 3 SEC coaches with NCs on their resume in 2001-2003. Only 2 in 2019.
They went 3 and 0 and over the last 5 yrs ACC has a winning record against the SEC.... Yikes
SEC had this 5 or 6 yr span were they were just ridiculous. 5 or 6 teams that were legitimate top 10 teams. They are back to where every1 else is now but i still think most yrs they have a slight lead but its very slight. It mainly depends on UF and LSU. Bama has been consistent, Auburns been goodish. UGA is the pretender every yr.
The belief that since Kirby and Richt have similar records in their first three years therefore they will have the same careers is shockingly simplistic and dumb. Funny to see this parroted as some great point by so many on here.
