2021-22 Basketball Primer

UF Women's basketball destroyed ranked Kentucky in Lexington 77-52 to improve their record to 14-5, 4-2 in the SEC. They are one of the surprise teams in the nation this year, but have upcoming games against #11 LSU at home Sunday and then the following Sunday vs. #1 South Carolina, both games at home. This is the best UF's women have played in several years and we can only hope they keep it going. Go Gators!!
I was surprised how easily they throttled a ranked Kentucky team in Lexington.

Again I don’t root for us to loss but at this point I’m kind of hoping we don’t make the tourney. (wtf paco? forked tongue - both sides of mouth)

Since you guys have been begging for the iG to post again, I'll do youse guys a flavor.... 😉

If the football team was playing without their 4-5 best players on the offense?
And if the they were also playing without their 4-5 best players on the defense?
That minus (8-10 of 22) would not be a consideration at all, because no team should just depend on their best players, because a good coach wouldn't be depending on his 8-10 best players on the team.....

2 Former All-SEC players on scholarship and on the Gators' bench and unavailable F/C Colin Castleton and SF/CG Keyontae Johnson.

The B-Ball team was already playing without KJ, and now they are also without CC (best 2 of 5), so no big deal, it all still goes on the shitty coaching anyway.... (BillyD was so good that he wouldn't have even noticed if say Brewer was still out to begin the season, and then Noah had gone down in the middle of Jan. -- Plus BillyD never had to deal with 2 years of a Socialist-U scamdemic)

😂 🤣 😂 -- relax, I'm outta here again so's yawl can go back to having fun...

Gators up 3 at the half against Vandy. Pipen picked up two quick fouls and only played 5 minutes. If our shooting doesn't get better in the 2nd half we will be in trouble.

As I stated previously, if KJ hadn't had his condition he would have gone pro, either way he this year's team wouldn't have him, SO YOU CAN'T CONSIDER HIM.

Note: Keep poking the bear. Go on. Look, if you hate posting here so much, just go away. Why do you require martyrdom?

Doofus.

UF Women's basketball won their 2nd game in a row against a ranked opponent by beating #11 LSU Sunday afternoon 73-72. In spite the loss of leading scorer and rebounder, Lavendar Briggs, to a season-ending injury early in january, the Lady Gators are surprising everybody with the level of their play, improving to 15-5, 5-2 in the SEC. Picked 11th in the SEC, UF is now tied with LSU for 4th in league standings. In today's game the Gators were 19-22 from the free throw line, 6-17 shooting 3's, and turned LSU over 19 times. They were led by Kiara Smith's 23 points and 8 assists, followed by Jordyn Merritt's 16 points and 7 rebounds and Zipporah Broughton's 14 points. The Gators are off until next Sunday when they host #1 South Carolina. This team isn't going to win a championship this year, but have made great strides under interim Head Coach Kelly Rae Finley. And they have proven you can lose your best player to injury and still exceed expectations.

Might be time to remove the interim tag off of the coach

Gatkek showing some hustle.
He can't play.
He's no good.
He's too skinny and weak.
If he's playing more than mope up then they are in trouble.

Losing top players for the last 4-5 seasons, but still making the Dance and not going 1 & Done is what?

So, if Mike wins the last 2 SEC games without 2 All SEC Players (KJ & CC), then that proves that he's a totally incompetent coach that needs to be run outta town on a rail....

Gatkek is awful. Even with our injuries dude is playing single digit minutes. And why do you keep bringing up KJ?? Had he not had his health issue last year he would've been gone this year.

Once Instafool has decided on a narrative, he stubbornly shills that narrative until that player or coach no longer is at UF

facts notwithstanding, that narrative is his gospel

At the beginning of the season, I said that Gaktek could get some quality game minutes.
I never said that he'd be a starter or a major addition to this years team.
That prompted some here to diss all over him and make the claims that I just listed.
Were you one of those FoS's?

Gatkek has been getting 3-9 min. in his first 7 games played, (Ave 5 min/gm but not in mop up)

In his last 2 games, he just played 16 min in the Gator win over MsSt
He followed that up playing 9 min in the win over VU.
In those 2 games averaging 12.5 min/gm.
FG .500, 4 RB, 2 Ast, 2 Blk, 3 Stls, 4 Pts.
Looks like some quality game minutes to me....

As to KJ, he told you that (he'd be leaving early) himself did he???
He nor his parents care about him getting a UF degree at all, right?

Don't bother, I don't really GaS what you've said in the past, present, or future....

Awww, sorry. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. KJ was going to be a high draft pick. Go look it up yourself. Gatkek's would be better off playing in D2.

We play them twice I believe
Correct. After the current 4 games in 8 days, we play at Missouri on Feb. 2 then host Ole Miss Feb. 5. We also have 2 games with Georgia, 2 with Kentucky, another game vs. Vandy, another vs. Auburn, plus 1 game each against Texas A&M and Arkansas.

No hurt feeling over what the FoS's here babble out in their ignorance.

Your opinion on Gatkek is about the same quality as the rest of your drivel....
PS - Don't GaS if reality hurts your precious little feelings.

Damn I think that makes this a 100% must win game looking at that. Close to zero chance to get in with a loss here short of an SECT run to the final game.

Does anyone here besides me, still remember how to enjoy one game at a time, being played by college kids doing their best, for the current vastly entitled fans???

Speaking out too soon in your defense of Mike White? We're about to lose to a very crappy Ole Piss team, almost as bad as Texas Southern and Maryland.
This is embarrassing!

Ole Miss came in to tonight's game 9-9-, 1-5 in the SEC, losers of 4 straight. Tied 22-22 at the half, the Rebels just pounded us the 2nd half., as our defense just fell apart. They outscored us 48-32 and won 70-54. We shot 4 for 29 from the 3 point line, which pretty much sums up the offense. And the pattern continues - consistently inconsistent un Mr. White. Nerxt up is a loss in Knoxville Wednesday.

With 12 games remaining, UF will be lucky to win just two of those games left on the schedule.
Goodbye Mike White!

Are we ready to take bets on what nickname insta will give Mike White when he inevitably turns against hun and pretends he never liked him?

it'll take time, maybe a year or two, but it'll happen.

Ive still got my bets set for 2023 when he calls Todd Grantham "Toddler RottenHam."

Tyke Wipe?

I think UF is better than that more like 5-6 but I see the game against Arkansas being a must win
Based on current records, we should sweep Georgia (they are terrible 5-14, 0-6), and beat Vandy, Missouri and Ole Miss. But Missouri is in Columbia, so who knows? We'll be underdogs in the rest of the games.

Damn!! Solid night for Gatkek. 11 min, career high 3 points, 1 rebound and 4 fouls. You were right, this guy can be a big time contributor.

We will need to get to at least 9-9 to have a shot at NCAA. Sitting at 3-4 with 11 games left, it is going to be tough for sure. Another year with Mike White at the helm and we are once again doing math to figure out if we can get into the tourney. At least he keeps is exciting, none of that boring we're a lock for the tourney crap.

That’s what I see as well for UF….. with Arkansas being a critical win to get to 9 in SEC

The best thing for our program is to fire coach White. The story on him has already been written. Time to move on...

I couldn't care any less if the fire Mike Millionaire, because it won't change a single thing in my life.

Coaches come and go all the time in college sports.
Hire one that can coach up his players to never have a cold day shooting the ball.....

Ours has had a cold day shooting going on about 7 years now. I don’t think we have ever had a good shooting team under White. Maybe the Elite 8 team.

The offense is so unimaginative and basic with a lot of dribbling and perimeter passing that way too many possessions end up with forced shots. And when we go inside, we turn it over or miss easy shots at the rim. Once an opponent sees that we're settling for 3 points shots, they cut off good passing lanes and let us have 'em. The percentages are with them, not us. And you're right, this has been the same pattern for years and noting changes. Middle of the pack in the conference and just barely getting in the dance with virtually no chance of doing serious damage. If mediocre basketball is your cup of tea, Gator basketball serves it cold. By the way, our 3-point shooting percentage going in to last night's game was 30.3%, 308th in the nation. And today I'm sure we dropped several slots lower. Phew!
