Two Headed Monster?

Rather than becoming the next school to be dumped after Ol'Miss...

What about using the alleged $12m/yr to hire two elite NFL coordinators and make them co-HC's?

According to the all knowing Google, the highest paid OC is $3m/yr and highest DC is $4.5m.

Target the best and give them $6m/yr each. Get a GM, and run an NFL style operation, as that is what college football has become, whether we like it or not.

I think recruits would run to this model, with competitive NIL.

Two young proven elite NFL coordinators, with compatible personalities, on a mission to jointly own the college football world? Sign me up.

Break the mold of giving the keys to one guy and hope. It could work. We could be the first.

Football Thoughts on Lincoln Riley?

With all the Lane talk, thought I would think in another direction. What is everyone’s thought on Lincoln Riley?

Seems like he might not be the best fit at USC. He could possibly use a change of scenery. At 41 with a 77-20 overall record, I think he is someone to look at. He was 55-10 at OU with multiple conference titles.

An argument could be made that he was fortunate that he was the recipient of good QB play with 3 heisman trophy winners and Jalen Hurts.

Red flag to me is that it was reported that he was unhappy with OU’s decision to move to the SEC which is one factor for him leaving for USC. He also reportedly was actively trying to get out of the LSU games. Not sure what to make of that.

Finally, he would need to find a top notch proven DC. That seems to be an Achilles heal for him.

Interested in everyone’s thoughts. I am definitely intrigued with the idea and curious as to if he would/could be a possibility.

Thoughts and prayers to our friends in Tallahassee and the Panhandle…

They are horrible events, and sadgator has the highest level of sympathy and compassion for those who have to experience both the event and the terrible aftermath that follows….

May God bless you all over the next few hours, and let’s hope it is not as bad as it could be…

New Story On Joshua Moore

The Miami momentum and continued chatter around Napier's future led to the flip to Miami last night. But in speaking with people around the gifted WRs camp, the word remains that Moore "loves everything" about Florida. The program, the university, the current staff -- all of it.

It probably means the door could remain slightly open for a potential return to the class later in the cycle, when either Napier has settled things towards UF making a bowl game or a new staff circling back to Moore as it tries to hit the ground running whenever it is fully on board trying to recruit this senior class.

Moore's dad is a big-time Miami fan and the family is happy he is set to stay closer to home, but there was no indication to me over the last day or so that this recruitment is 100% shut down.

New Story Three Tennessee Volunteers to watch versus Florida

Three Tennessee Volunteers to watch versus Florida
Hector

The Florida Gators will hit the road to take on one of their top rivals, the Tennessee Volunteers. This will be Florida’s first SEC matchup on the road this season. Florida is also coming off their best win of the season.

The Gators defeated the UCF Knights at home 24-13. Florida improved to 3-2 on the season. Tennessee has been one of the best teams in the SEC but is coming off their first loss of the season. Tennessee lost 19-14 to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Here are three Tennessee Volunteers to watch versus the Florida Gators.

RB Dylan Sampson

Junior running back Dylan Sampson has been one of the top-performing rushing backs this season. The Baton Rogue native has been the leader of the top-ranked rushing offense in the SEC.

During the 2024 season, Sampson leads the Volunteers offense in rushing with 587 rushing yards. He also leads the SEC in rushing touchdowns with twelve, averaging 117.8 rushing yards per game.

The Florida Gators' defense played very well against one of the top rushing offenses last Saturday versus UCF. Florida will need to have another great defensive performance to keep themselves in the game and avoid a shootout with the Volunteers offense, who’s averaging over 40 points per game.

2. DL James Pearce Jr.

Junior defensive lineman James Pearce Jr. is one of the top pass rushers in college football. Pearce is a projected first round pick and could be a tough challenge against Florida’s offensive line.

In the 2024 season, Pearce has recorded twelve total tackles, including six solo tackles. He leads the Volunteers’ defense in QB hurries with five. Pearce has also recorded three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and one pass breakup.

The North Carolina native will be a vocal point for the Gators in this weekend’s preparation. Pearce could be a game-wrecker for the Gators and will need to be limited in their upcoming matchup.

3. QB Nico Iamaleava

Redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava was one of the top high school recruits in the Class of 2023. Iamaleava was a five-star recruit and the second-ranked recruit in his class. He was signed with Tennessee over Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State, and USC.

In his first season as the starter, Iamaleava completed 66.4% of his passes for 1,048 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has also rushed for 134 yards on 36 carries and a touchdown.

The Golden State native is coming off the worst game of his collegiate game. He struggled to throw the ball down the field and the Tennessee offense couldn’t get in rhythm. He will look to rebound against a Florida defense that has been consistently good this season.

Football Crawshaw Tabbed Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for Week Six

Crawshaw Tabbed Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for Week Six

Florida’s punter was one of the week’s “Ray’s 8,” and was selected via fan vote to be the lone Punter of the Week.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators punter Jeremy Crawshaw was named the Ray Guy Award’s Punter of the Week, the Augusta Sports Council announced Wednesday. He earns the nod via a fan vote after being named one of eight finalists for the weekly award

The Australian native was called on to punt a total of four times against UCF, landing three of those punts inside of the opponents 20-yard line, two punts for over 50 yards, and one spectacular punt downed at the UCF three-yard line, pinning UCF against their own end zone to start a drive in the second quarter.

In the 2024 season, Crawshaw is responsible for 17 punts through Florida’s five contests, going for 777 total punt yards. His 45.71-yard average ranks 27th in FBS this season.

2024 is Crawshaw’s fifth season with Florida and fourth as the Gators starting punter. The 2023 campaign saw Crashaw set career and single season program records in career average yards per punt (46.7) and single-season yards per punt (48.9). He was named to the AP All-SEC Second-Team at the end of last season. Crashaw also earned preseason honors from CFN, Athlon Sports, Sporting News and Phil Steele.

Week 2: Riley Thompson, Penn State
Week 3: James Burnip, Alabama
Week 4: Rhys Dakin, Iowa
Week 5: Caden Noonkester, NC State

About the Ray Guy Award

The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner are net punting average, number of times punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage and percentage of punts not returned with particular emphasis placed on net punting average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline, and have a positive impact on the team's success.
