When even Pelosi and Warren say ban Russian oil, why won't Biden?

I honestly never understood why we risk relying on foreign oil. I am pro pipe line from Canada. We should limit how much we rely on any country not over here.
The two things we should become are: energy independent and semiconductor independent. We should re-initiate the Keystone Pipeline and drive elements of clean energy (wind, solar, nuclear, etc.).

How would he know?

Gee, I wonder if we ever imported Russian oil when Trump was president.

For the record, I’m for banning Russian oil. Now and forever. That won’t help our gas prices though.

That’s a nice goal but I doubt we ever become truly energy independent.

The United States became a net annual petroleum exporter in 2020. In 2020, the United States exported about 8.51 MMb/d and imported about 7.86 MMb/d of petroleum 1 , making the United States a net annual petroleum exporter for the first time since at least 1949.

Exports of Crude Oil in the United States averaged 763.94 USD Million from 1989 until 2021, reaching an all time high of 7449.30 USD Million in December of 2021.

The current level of U.S. crude oil exports as of January 2022 is 6,720.00 thousand barrels per day.

We should not be exporting any oil, nor should we be importing any.
Keep U.S. oil in America, and those we sell to can import their oil from elsewhere.

My inclination is to agree but sometimes being a reliable and trusted trading partner brings a level of influence with the buyer. That’s important.

It doesn't work that way.

Even though I'm not against the Keystone pipeline. People who think the Keystone pipeline will produce more gas is misinformed. The Keystone pipeline will only help gas get from Canada to the US faster but the amount of gas won't change.

As I said before, everyone claim to be an expert on everything. There is so much misinformation about inflation, gas prices and what impact the president actually has. It truly is mind-blowing and sad.

The people know their gas and food bill has skyrocketed since Biden took over. The people blame who is at the top so the Democrats are going to take an epic pounding probably if this doesn't change. It will be kind of ironic that this crap with Russia who they had as the villain with Trump will cement their fate if things don't change pretty quickly. I bet they start spinning some crazy mess that Trump made a deal with Putin before leaving to invade before the mid-terms.

I get the blame game and how everything is the presidents fault but being misinformed is still sad. Social media really created experts on everything.

So you're telling us Canadian crude arriving at Texas refineries can be used at only a single application?
I don’t even know what that dumb statement means. It makes no sense. You are obviously trying to repeat something you heard on Fox, but didn’t understand it. What are you trying to say?

Btw, I just watchEd some Fox Business Reporter try to talk about leases and permits and she obviously had no idea what she was talking about as well.

Thank you for confirming what most of us suspected. NavigatorII, do you want to try to explain what course Canadian heavy crude might take should Keystone be completed? What petroleum futures might do with the simple Biden announcement Keystone is back on.

Oh geez, now you are trying to talk about “futures”, something else you have zero clue about. Man up and quit asking others for help. What are these “applications” you are talking about?

The Dud set to announce ban on Russky oil.
Are we going to get the Venezuelans to open their rusty non-working spigots?
Another colossally stupid move by the Puppet Masters.
What are these “rusty spigots” you are talking about.

I love it when newbies try to talk about energy. Didn’t you used to live in Texas? You should have paid more attention.

Even ABC news is baffled why Biden sanctioning everything but Russian oil. It's that Biden "common sense" kicking in that jimbo1313R speaks so highly of and yet won't produce one example of.

I’m sure you will be cheering Biden when he approves the ban. Nope, you will be complaining about the rise in oil prices.

You are a hypocrite.

I commend the move IF he opens the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. Otherwise it is just a stunt, which is what I expect it to be. Remember, he still to this day has been on the wrong side of EVERY political decision he has ever made. Why would I expect that to change today?

This thread is funny. People are calling him idiot for not doing, now that he is about to do it they are calling him an idiot. This is a perfect example of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I agree. Especially the Gulf of Mexico. Alaska is no big deal and there are a lot of environmental concerns.

He certainly is suffering from the law of unintended consequences. But I hope you realize that opening those areas up would have zero impact on current gas prices because those areas take years, even decades to develop.

Now what about Florida. Should he open those areas up as well. What does an expert fisherman have to say.

Bump. Please explain yourself better and I will be glad to answer. What are you trying to say?

There is truth to that. It is a transmission consideration, although it is not clear if additional economical transmission then sets the stage for additional generation.

They are fine as long as they are secure and out of sight. They are a boon to sportfishing. I wouldn't expect you to know that. 😂 Just look at Louisiana. Sport fishing capital of the world. Hasn't hurt their fisheries one iota, in fact those oil rigs are spectacular fish havens.
